Move over pastels, there's a bolder trend in town. And by bold, we mean shades that are deep, glossy and metallic. Think vamp. Think vixen. Think goth. Just make sure you preface each with BOLD!
Blues so dark they're almost black. Purples so deep your hair glistens like an amethyst. Reds that run more seductive than claret.
Bold, bright, 'unnatural' colours are no longer just for the young, teenage rebellion or for a fun night out. With the right colour, with the right product, you can go bold all by yourself, and rock the look, every day; doing the school run, working in the office, looking glam for a night out. Bold colours can be an any-time look, here's how!
Whether you opt for bright-as-bright or a more muted colour statement here's some points and tips to consider;
1. Consider your comfort zone.
We're all about pushing boundaries, but it does take a certain amount of confidence to rock bold or unusual colours. There's no point taking the plunge if you're going to hide under hats. You could always opt for a subtle sheen, like the gorgeous Cool Amethyst shade from Schwarzkopf's Brilliance Gem Collection.
2. Bold hair choices will attract attention, so make sure your hair is in great condition - you want people noticing the shade, not the dry/damaged/split/frizzy strands. Check out the Fibre Therapy range, which contains Omegaplex - Schwarzkopf's revolutionary ingredient that actually repairs hair damaged by over-processing and heat styling. It has reviewed amazingly well - check out over 40 independant reviews here.
3. It's easier to acheive a bold colour on light hair. However if you have dark hair and want to introduce a hint of colour, consider using a bold colour, say purple, over your existing shade. The result will be a colour sheen that is more vibrant in sunlight, without being in-your-face bright. It'll also save you hitting the bleach bottle. Another win for the incredible Brilliance Gems range where several of the shades can be used on darker hair to maximum effect!
4. Bold colours require maintenance - unless you're happy to rock faded/pastel locks, you're going to want to use semi-permanent dyes in between colouring, or specially formulated colour shampoos to prolong the colour.
5. If you're nervous about taking the full head plunge, consider strategically placed splices. Colouring the under layers is a great compromise - a bold look, without having to worry too much about how the colour affects your skin type. If you're considering going the full head, why not try semi-permanent splices around the front of your face, so you can better understand the effects against your skin, before taking the plunge.
Schwarzkopf Brilliance's Gem Collection not only offers deep, intense colours, but also more wearable shades, like Dark Sapphire or Fiery Topaz, for those who don't want to be too bright, and of course you can always incorporate just a hint of colour with splices, ombres or even just random streaks. Each shade in this collection has a varying metallic finish - perfectly on trend for this Winter. The Diamond Gloss Serum in the colour creme will ensure you achieve the cardinal rule of bold hair - SHINE!

They look lovely. I have had my hair bold and have just gone back to dark hair to give my hair a bit of a rest from hair dye for a while.
