Last week we were overcome with Ombre, and we spoke of how the trend for graduated two tone hair had exploded last year and showed no signs of slowing down this year. Well we've just discovered the ombre trend is spreading. To our eyelashes.
Ahead of festival season in the UK, salons are seeing an increase in the demand for bright, bold and statement lashes - in the two tone hair style rocked by many a celebrity. But before you have nightmares about bleaching your eyelashes, you can sleep easy - these are eyelash extensions.
Eyelash extensions have become a staple salon treatment, with people paying around $250 for silk fibre extensions. Eyelash extensions add depth, volume and length to the upper lashline and are great for people with fine, short or few lashes. They are made from silk fibres and are lightweight and incredibly natural looking, lasting as long as your natural lash takes to grow out (between 6 weeks and 3 months). You can choose to have eyelash extensions as a one off for a special event or have regular infills.
To create the ombre look, each fibre is dip dyed to create a striking tip against the classic black fibre. Popular colours include purple, green and blue, which each work best with certain eye colours to bring the glitz and drama. Some salons will even custom dye them for you, with clients opting for clashing colour combinations such as lime green and orange.
And you thought coloured mascara was daring!
So what do you think? Will you be batting two-tone colourful eyelashes, or is this one best saved for artistic purposes?
It would be a cool idea if your going out to a party or concert. I do like false eye lashes but have never tried them
