It’s no secret that we’re rather fond of buns here at BRHQ. They’re one of the easiest ways to hide a bad hair day while still managing to look effortlessly chic. However sometimes we tire of our old top knots and low slung buns. We’ll experiment with off to the side looks, two buns on top of the head, buns decorated with scrunchies, buns that are sleek, buns that are messy. But, to be honest of late we’ve been getting a little bored. And then we saw a new bun look that inspired bun-love all over again.

The great ‘they’ are calling it The Hun. You and I would better know it as a half bun.

Yeah, yeah, technically it’s not a new look, but it’s not a look we’ve see a lot of in the last wee while, so in the land of ‘fashun’ that makes the look ‘new’ again. New and huge. This look has exploded onto the runways, onto Instagram and onto a whole bunch of celebrity-type heads. And who can blame them for embracing this particular look? Its versatility is out of this world and best of all totally achievable for us normalish-haired types. Yep, your hair can be wavy, your hair can be curly, your hair can be straight, it can be dyed, or not. When it comes to creating your own ‘hun’ look, as long as your hair’s long enough to put up in half a bun you can do it. And the ways you can do it!

You can sit the bun at the top of your head, on the crown or at the nape. You can have fun by adding in braids. You can have it tight. You can have it loose. Sleek and sophisticated? Messily casual? It’s up to you!
Best of all, like all good buns, it too can hide a bad hair day while still making you look as if you’ve put in some effort.

So are you inspired by the half bun? Is it a look you’re keen on trying? Or are you ahead of the fashion curve and hunning it already?

i sported the half bun all the time when i was 13....oh gosh that seems like a very long time ago haha i won't try it again due to the style of my new cut but i think it looks great on long hair :)

I am trying to grow my hair long enough to have some kind of bun because I love the carefree look.

I've never been able to style my hair, I'm just so unco that it doesn't work! Teach me to do a normal bun and MAYBE one day I'd be able to pull off the Hun, lol. Would definitely be nice to have something other than a ponytail or straightened hair to do anyway.

This looks so cool! Ive seen a lot of selfies with "the hun", my hair is so thin so it would look so silly haha!

Buns are my best friend! Haven't given this a go though may give it a go later

20th October, 2015

This look is not for me, I don't suit my hair up.

Very young girlie look -I am well past the age to carry this look.

Ummm have you seen the size of my head? The half bun would look like a peanut!! Nope not for me but I definitely admire those who sport it.

I'm liking the look of the half bun! I'm wearing my hair in a bun most days at the moment. My hair is in such bad condition and it looks awful hence why I have been wearing my hair in a bun. I probably need to sort my hair out before I attempt the Hun!

Personally, the half buns that sit smack bang on the top of the head drive me nuts because E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E wears them...BUT, I still secretly want to try it lol. Good thing my thin hair can barely pull off a full head bun, there's no chance I could manage a half head one, it'd be the size of a Lindt ball (nom!).

19th October, 2015

I used to love having my hair like this years ago. I probably wont be doing it this time though. I wonder what hair trend will be next.

19th October, 2015

Nope I don't think I could pull this off. I'm a classic bun girl.

19th October, 2015

Personally it reminds me of those old dolls with topknots so I'm not a fan but to each their own opinion :)

19th October, 2015

I always wear buns but I'm a bit scared because I read somewhere recently that it can cause you to get a receding hairline!

19th October, 2015

I'd adorn it and have been for sometime but I thought it was just a lazy hot mess but now it's a trend bahhhh gashhh

Eeek. Unless you wear a tight ballerina bun I'm sure it won't affect your hair.
