Oh how the other half lives!  We've looked at pampered pets, we've looked at expensive hotels and spas; now let's loo at how much a simple beauty product is for the rich and famous!

Theodent 300 Toothpaste - $100

The main ingredient in Theodent 300 is Rennou which is naturally occuring in cocoa beans.  Rennou is used as an alternative to fluoride and can strengthen tooth enamel and leave you with a healthier smile.

The price tag is caused by the process to extract Rennou from the cocoa beans and to purify it.

We wonder if it tastes like chocolate?

Creme de la Mer - $150 an ounce!

For those of you not down with the metric system, a fluid ounce is just under 30ml.  A 500ml jar of Creme de la Mer will set you back $1900.

Formulated by Estee Lauder, the formula was discovered in the 1970s by NASA scientist Dr Max Huber, who was badly injured when a routine experiment to develop rocket fuel went wrong. He spent the next 12 years developing a product to help reduce his scarring, and came up with this "miracle of the sea".

Tweezerman Luxe Edition Crystal Slant Tweezer and Stand - $200

Tweezerman is the ultimate name in the world of Tweezers and are no strangers to funky designs.

But if you fancy something a little more blinging to tame your bettys why not go for this bejewelled pair, complete with a stand to ensure they have pride of place on your vanity.

Stainless steel lovingly lavished with Swarovski crystals.  Diva.

Azature Black Diamond Nail Polish - $250,000

No, the 0 key didn't get stuck - there really is a quarter of a million dollar nail polish.

Azature make (expensive) jewellery and recently released the world's most expensive nail polish, made with 267 carat of black diamonds.

If you want a taste of this lifestyle you can buy Azature's 1 Black Diamond polish for a more reasonable $25.

Philip B Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo - $150

The 'fountain of youth for hair' contains 11 L-amino acids that work to repair and restore your hair's cellular structure.

The double hit of vitamin B5 and phytantrial moisturise and seal moisture into your locks.

This  shampoo has been deemed the best of the best by Vogue magazines throughout the world, and would you dare argue with Anna Wintour?!

Natura Bisse - Diamond Life Infusion - $590

A ground breaking serum, 3 years in the making.  Let's be honest, we meet a new miracle serum monthly, so why is this one so coveted?  (and so expensive?!)

This nightly rejuvenating treatment is aimed at women over 35. The technology and 16 state-of-the-art ingredients bumb up the cost, but it's the newly discovered magnetic active that inflates the price tag.  This replacement retinoid eliminates common effects that come along with anti-ageing products, like sensitivity, dryness and redness.

Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Treatment - $1500

A four-week treatment (one tube per week) is supposed to deliver serious anti-aging results. Guerlain recommends using this product twice a year ($3000 on one product?!)

The 13 ingredients in the solution, which include 24-karat gold and platinum nanoparticles, work together and claim to provide a “lifting and firming” effect on the skin

Your skin will glow from the flecks of real gold within the product!

Jean Patou Joy Baccarat Pure Parfum - $1500

Don't let the simple bottle deceive you.  This is the most expensive fragrance in the world.

The Joy fragrance is made from a flower that only grows for two weeks every year in Jean Patou’s fields.

It also takes around 10,600 jasmine blooms and 28 dozen roses to make every bottle.  The fragrance also contains ylang-ylang, michelia and tuberose - safe to say the notes are floral!

RéVive Peau Magnifique Youth Recruit - $1500

This anti-aging bank-breaker contains ingredients like epidermal and fibroblast growth factors, which trigger skin cell and collagen production.

Essentially it kick-starts cells to reproduce more than usual, meaning the inevitable signs of aging are postponed.

But don't let the price put you off - each application consists of only one drop, so really it's a bargain right?!

La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation - $195

Ok, we all know caviar is expensive, but do we really need to put it on our face?  Well apparently it actually has anti ageing properties, so if you've got nearly $200 to spare you might want to give it a go.

Not only is this a foundation, but the bottle cap hosts a perfectly matched concealer. La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealor Foundation encourages firming with legendary caviar extracts and help shield skin from ageing factors.  And you get the brush for free.

So there we have it - our top ten expensive beauty products - anything take your fancy?!

$250,000 for a nail polish...holy smokes!

23rd March, 2015

Oh wow, now that's absolutely crazy, $100 tooth paste. I hope who ever buys these never have to re buy them ever again, I mean lets face it. That's far to expensive to keep doing.

23rd March, 2015

Just imagine the lifestyle you would be living if you could afford these products...wow!

23rd March, 2015

I must try chewing cocao beans and see if it gives the same effect ;) I some in my cupboard, so I will let you all know how it goes. I listed over the La Mer cream when it was first released, so yes I would buy that if the income was there. I have always wanted to smell Joy too and who doesn't want diamond entrusted tweezers?

23rd March, 2015

I woudn't spend that much on products. You could get so much for those amounts of money. I suppose there would be people out there that could easily spend these amounts.

23rd March, 2015

Is it silly that I want to try that toothpaste?! I mean it has to taste sweet right? I also really want to know if Creme de la Mer works... if it does it would be worth the price tag surely. I love reading about these expensive items... I show them to hubby then he doesn't complain about the somewhat cheaper expensive items on my wish list ;)

23rd March, 2015

I have to admit if I had an endless pot of money I'd probably give most of these a go.

23rd March, 2015

House or nail polish...hmmm. CRAZY!

23rd March, 2015

Yes, I wonder what that toothpaste tastes like? The rest I would try if given to me, but even if I had the dough, I wouldn't buy, because I am a lifelong bargain hunter and scrimper.

23rd March, 2015

Wow! Really. I wonder if you went to the Beautician how much they would charge to apply a couple of coats of that nail polish. The toothpaste I would love to try and Creme de la Mer.

23rd March, 2015

I wouldn't buy any of these but if they were given to me, I'd definitely use them. The toothpaste, tweezers and nailpolish aren't something I would buy even if I had the money.

23rd March, 2015

Wow! Some of those are... A lot ott. I've been eyeing up a serum for $211 and while I was looking into it more another product popped up for $1027 I was shocked and thought seriously people actually do buy this? and yes this is a NZ website and they also have stores in Christchurch and timaru. COOORRAZY!!

23rd March, 2015

Wow! I presume there must be a market for these things but REALLY! Especially the toothpaste, I just don't get it.
