How easy would it be to turn a blind eye to your body's skin care routine in the winter months? To hide under a blanket, drinking hot chocolate and just hibernating until warmer days rolled around...
The pros? It'd be very cosy.
The cons? When you did emerge you'd have some serious skin care work ahead of you.
Yes, even in the winter months - perhaps even more so - it's important to keep up your routine. So what do you need to change? Or change up? Read on...
Exfoliate
Any excuse to spend a little more time in a warm shower, right? (Note, not hot shower as that strips the skin of its moisture.) In all seriousness though, a few minutes with a scrub in the shower will remove dead skin cells, and prime the skin for the coming moisturisation.
Moisturise
Being wrapped up all day while sitting in heated rooms sucks the moisture from your body, leaving it screaming out for hydration, which is why it's important during the cooler months to take the time each day to nourish your body with a good, thick moisturiser. Can't bare stepping out of the shower before slathering yourself in a moisturiser? Grab an in-shower moisturiser, or use a body oil while you're in the shower, then rinse off before stepping out - your skin will thank you for it!
Also, don't forget to use a good, nourishing lip balm, like Chapstick Natural PaPaw Lip Balm (I have these stashed everywhere), and BR Kellie swears by Aquaphor as a sleeping mask for her lips, to keep your kissers nice and plump.
Sunscreen
We can't do a skin care article without ramming this point home... sunscreen is important ALL YEAR ROUND. If you're heading outside make sure to apply your sunscreen on your face and on your hands, as well as any other area that's going to be seeing the light of day.
So are you wiling to spend a few minutes each day caring for your body during winter? Or would you rather hibernate now and get busy dealing to dry skin once it's warmer? And what are your favourite products to you during the darker days?
Sharing is caring, so get chatting below!
Yip i sunscreen all year round but just my face and neck hahahaha. I got a bit slack with moisturising and body oil during this winter. Just want to wrap myself quickly under my warm duvet after a hot shower.
