The Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 IPL is described as the latest in at-home hair removal technology - offering 'the fastest, safest and most effective IPL on the market.'
So what did self confessed 'bit of a wuss' Beauty Reviewer Siouxsannah make of it? Here's her abridged review!
"I was quite nervous about using the IPL as I had never had laser hair removal treatment before. So I read the instructions very carefully and I proceeded slowly with the device.
The device itself is quite easy to use. In order to use it the area needs to be newly shaved. The device works by using two skin tone sensors on either side of the head. They both need to be in contact with the skin at all times. The sensors read your skin tone and selects the appropriate light intensity from that.
The device flashes bright red pulses of light as it moves across the skin. It can sting and feel a little bit like being pricked.
I have been using the IPL for about 4 weeks now. The only difficulties I have encountered when using the device is that even with a large area, such as my leg, the curvature of my calves means that sometimes it is hard to get both light sensors on the standard head in contact with the skin at the same time. However, the package comes with the precision head, which is narrower, so it is great for ankles, knees, armpits, etc.
Altogether I think the Braun Silk-expert Pro 5 PL5137 IPL is a great way to remove unwanted body hair if you are a suitable candidate for skin and hair tone. Once you are used to it, it is a fast, efficient, low discomfort way to remove hair."

"Love this, so easy to use and the swivel head is fantastic. You are able to work on every angle without being a contortionist. Did it remove my hairs any better than my old one? No but I've enjoyed using it more.
Tried the smaller attachment on my face under my brows which took off all the blonde fluffies instantly. Brilliant.
The facial brush I've used in the shower twice weekly. At first I used it with my cleanser and thought it was just okay. The next morning when I woke up my skin felt super smooth and my foundation glided on."

For stephxo the epilator attachment seems to be the winner!
"The facial epilator turns very fast to remove hair. It’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t pull the skin away while it does its thing. There wasn’t much pain in most areas, except delicate areas like the upper lip and eyebrows there was just slight bit of pain, but that disappears very quickly. I have a mix of course and fine hair and I didn’t see any regrowth for at least 4 days, which is so much better than shaving or dermaplanning where I see regrowth the next day. However, even with the regrowth, it wasn’t very noticeable as the hair weren’t long. I only had to reuse it again after 6-7 days."
For PurpleCake the cleansing brush is a hit.
"This is my favourite! A gentle soft brush that cleansed my skin really nicely. I applied face wash to my damp face, and gently moved the brush around my face. You don’t need to press it hard into your skin, just glide it lightly across your face so it doesn’t pull your skin, and let the spinning brush do the hard work. My skin felt so clean and smooth afterwards, it felt like I’d just had a lovely exfoliating facial at the beauty spa!"
Im very keen to try the braun silk expert pro 5 IPL- I've had laser hair removal treatments that has really helped reduce haur growth but a year later I think I need to start touching up so this would be great to be able to do this at home
