Undercuts - Yay or Nay?

Undercuts.  No longer the go-to 'edgy' look for pretty boys.  (Hello David Beckham.  And Brad Pitt.  And Brendan Fraser circa 2001)

Women are rocking the undercut, and it's not just short, choppy or textured styles that are paired with the so called buzz cut.  Women with long hair are taking the plunge to shave a section of their hair - usually the front side-over ear section.

So why is it so popular?  We think it's the versatility of the look.  With a centre part no one is any the wiser (if you have hair below the lobe).  The shaved section is completely hidden.  Switch up your part to a side part and instant edge, danger and flair.  Even the growing out phase isn't too painful, because its easily hidden!

And there's no age restriction on this the look - the ever youthful Jada Pinkett-Smith (how on earth is she 43?!) rocks it with the same conviction as Miley.

You might be able to tell, but I'm seriously contemplating one - so help a gal out, share your thoughts!

What do you think of the undercut?  Do you love it or hate it?  Have you?  Would you?  Could you?

Some women can pull this look of but personally not my cup of tea.

I love the undercut! It looks awesome on long hair and on short...I'm a fan :)

I did the undercut of hair competitions about three years ago.. It did look good, for about a week, then it started to grow back, and was terrible! I think unless you intend to keep this hair style for a long time, stay away from it....

I have super thick hair and have been so tempted to try an undercut out myself but I'm not sure how I'd deal with growing it out... that's kind of what stops me lol

If you've got the head/face structure to pull it off, go for it. I'm not a fan of it personally.

This is not for me but I have seen some people who really suit an undercut and I admire them for being different.

I haven't tried this but I wouldn't be against trying it! It looks amazing on some women :)

I very judicious eye required for this . . . there would be millimetres between the 'edgy, modern rock chick' look and the 'I have had a lobotomy today' look. Otherwise - what is there to lose? Hair grows back!

I think it looks good.. I would personally wouldn't get it on me. It would look so weird, but it looks really good on others.

I love mine, but I must say I prefer the undercuts that don't go right back to skin, I think those can look a bit out there!

10th January, 2015

Not a fan. Only some people can really pull this off

I didn't used to like them but I have seen some beautiful ones recently. It does depend on your face shape, bone structure and hair type. Ask your hairdresser to pin back the side or area you are thinking of having shaved or gel it close to the scalp to see if you like it before you take the plunge.

This style looks really good and I do like it but I don't think I would be brave enough to try this hairstyle.

Some teenagers might suit it, but not very versatile if you get sick of it, and would take ages to grow out.

10th January, 2015

It would look odd on me I think, but I know some people who really suit it. :)
