Wet-look hair: It's cool. It's rock chick. It's got attitude. And it's one of those styles that never fully goes out of fashion. But just because it's "in", does that mean it's a good look? That it's something we should be embracing? Or does wet-look hair come with the potential of looking like you've had a ship crash into your skull, causing it to drop a boat load of oil onto your head? A danger for sure, but one that can be avoided with the right products and technique. So what is wet-look hair and how can you achieve it without looking like a ship wreck? Read on...
What's the deal with wet-look hair?
Wet-look hair is exactly what it says it is - it's when you style your hair so that it looks wet. It's the look you get when you've just slunk out of the pool and raked your fingers through your hair, or taken a shower and then combed your hair. It's not dripping wet, but it's not at the half-wet/fluffy/kind of dry stage either.
How can you get it?
Achieving wet-look hair is EASY! Don't wash your hair. Let the grease take over. Brush it through from root to tip. JOKING. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
There is most definitely an art to creating the wet hair look and it involves using a fair few hair products - think gel, a smoothing serum or cream, and hair spray - so that you can lock in moisture for a whole day and keep it looking Bond-girl-fresh-from-the-sea damp.
The steps are relatively simple: towel dry wet hair until it's 50 - 60% dry, take a wide tooth comb and comb your hair into the style you're planning on wearing - this might be parted in the middle, to the side, or slicked straight back. Next, take your gel AND serum/cream, pop them into the palm of your hand and mix them together. Take the mixture and run it through your hair from root to tip. If your hair's style falls out of place while doing this, follow it up with a brush through of your comb to reset the style. Finally, take your hair spray and go over your hair to lock in the moisture, and you're good to go!
Is it for everyone?
Yeah, no, yeah. Technically anyone can attempt this look and call it good. It's just a matter of confidence. Me? I'm not confident enough to step out with wet-look hair. I'd feel more drowned rat than uber cool rock chick. But if you're game to try it, then you absolutely should! And if you change your mind about the look after you've achieved it, you can simply jump in the shower and shampoo it out.

As mentioned below, it's not for me. I think it would make your hair look and feel greasy. When I see it on a lady I work with, I keep expecting to see her hair dry after a bit as though she did actually come into work with wet hair
