Don't you just love watermelon season? That gorgeous time of year when the fruit hits the shelves, all plump and ripe and sweet and chin-drippingly juicy. Not only does it taste great and add to your 5+ a day, it also provides hydration due to its high water content, and provide you with vitamin A and C, which is great for the health of your skin. Alas, unless you're willing to fork out a fair bit for the off-season stuff, during the non-summer months if you're wanting to enjoy the benefits of watermelon you have to look elsewhere, which, lucky for us is becoming easier and easier, as companies are infusing skincare and makeup with the goodness of watermelon. Check these products out...
35%. That's how much watermelon extract you'll find in this pot of Watermelon Cream moisturiser. We don't know about you, but that feels like a goodly amount! This is no 'tip of the hat' to an ingredient that's cool right now. This is serious watermelon hydration for those whose combo/oil skin needs a refresh. Nice work #16brand.
We bang on about staying out of the sun and/or making sure you have fantastic skin protection if you're heading out into it, but let's be honest... we've all been caught short at one time or another and come home to discover our face has caught a bit too much Ra, and it's a little tight and uncomfortable feeling. For times like that it's always good to keep a mask on hand, like Sephora's Watermelon After-sun Mask, which is designed to cool and care skin that's seen too much sun.
A beautiful scent that pampers the skin? Yes please! Clarins Eau Ensoleillante Sunshine works double duty to leave you smelling and feeling fabulous with the uplifting scent of mandarin, grapefruit, patchoulie and ylang-ylang and the goodness of watermelon, linden, chamomile and mimosa to soothe, smooth and hydrate your skin.
Got thirsty skin? Quench it with Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster. It claims to be a big drink of water for tired, dry skin. With ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, evening primrose oil, coconut juice and - you guessed it - watermelon fruit extract, we think it sounds divine!
How much do we love cosmetics that also include ingredients that benefit our skin? SO MUCH! If you're looking for a hydrating boost alongside the usual benefits of wearing a foundation, then check out Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude. Not only does it have SPF 25, it includes antioxidant rich red fruit extracts, including watermelon!
Okay, so this Lancome Juicy Shaker doesn't contain watermelon, but we love it - and it has moisturising properties, AND it's called Wonder Melon. So we're putting it in the list. Great for a touch of nourishing lip colour on the go, we think these need to be one of these in every handbag.
These sound delicious. A huge fan of the smell and taste already and have done eye pads out of melon but have not used any actual skincare products... yet. The cream sounds amazing and not too badly priced.
