Winter Shades You Need To Get Your Hands On Now!

As much as I'm not the hugest fan of winter... and that's probably an understatement... what I do enjoy about it is the opportunity to break out the darker side of the Pixie. No, I don't get all that much grumpier or gnarlier... but I do grab my darkest hues of nail polish and joyfully apply them to my fingernails. You see, while I'm all for doing whatever you want to do make-up wise whenever you want, I do have a tendency to stick with light and bright nail colour in the warmer months and more sombre shades in the cooler. So what shades are looking hot for winter? Check these out!

How beautiful is 'Therapewter' from the new Sally Hansen Color Therapy range? Let me count the ways. It's a khaki green. It has a hint of gold shimmer. It makes me think of walks through the bush with watery winter sunlight filtering down from the tree canopy. Also, it's a little edgier than your usual purple or deep red shade, which is often what I'd reach for at this time of year. Not that there's anything wrong with those shades either, especially when you see...

O.P.I Ink is like the velvety night sky in winter. So deep it's purplish, but with twinkling stars that instead of being a brilliant white are a lighter glittery purple. Then there's this beauty...

Butter London Ta-Ta! is truly reminiscent of an overcast day, where the clouds huddle the land, the world seems slower, time ticks by at a snails pace. Beautiful in its own subtle way. However if bold is your thing...

Nails Inc Nail Pure in the shade 'Victoria' is the thing red nail polish dreams are made of. It's a super deep red, with a hint of brown, and reminds us of sipping a glass of cab sav on a chilly evening, while rugged up in front of the tele binge watching our show du jour.

Of course winter isn't all dark and gloomy. Sensational sunrises, startling sunsets and lighting a cosy fire means it lends itself to some brilliant orange hues, and we can't get enough of the shade 'Atonic' from Kester Black. A stunning orange that will brighten up your life even on the dreariest of days.

So do tell... what are your favourite nail shades to wear during winter? Do you go bright and beautiful? Bold and brash? Soft and subtle? Chat away!

I used to wear only darker shades in the winter, and all the brights and pastels in summer But lifes to short so I wear whatever I want regardless of the season. Whateve I feel like is the way to go :) Sometimes a pop of colour mid winter is just want you need.

I love maroons and dark purples. Navies and greys are also great too. I feel that nudes are great all year round - professional and sophisticatedly understated.

I never really thought about switching up my nail polish colours as the seasons change. I always have liked nude nails and bright toes, I dont like having the yellow nails after the last time I used a dark polish on my fingers

O.P.I is absolutely gorgeous!! I have to say I love a deep red during winter. Namely Red-y to Glow by Sally Hansen.

My nails are seasonless! Who cares if it's winter I'll have baby pink nails or rainbow or gold depending on my mood.

Ohhhhh O.P.I ink and Therapewter look amazing!

Therapewter, wow! I am in love. What I wear on my nails depends on how long they are. If they are long I will wear a big, bright, bold colour however if my nails are on the short side thery will be coloured in light pastel shades.

I am the type of person that wears whatever shade I feel like whether it's winter or summer. But I do like the look of the first two polishes and the Nails Inc one, although with bright colors and dark colors you really need very well manicured hands.

I usually go for pastels on my nails so Ta-Ta would be my pick.

I like dark or nudes for my fingers and dark or bright for my toes...and NEVER matching. I love the new Sally Hansen in Mud Mask and i am currently rocking 'envy' a gorgeous deep bottle green from Avon on my fingers at the moment.

I tend to wear more blues, silver, greys and burgundy in winter, although at the moment I'm wearing a grey and hot pink polka dot combo to brighten my fingers up a little on these cold mornings (pic on Photo Wall).

Oooh they all look great, I actually like all of the colours, just wish I had decent nails :(

I love reds and purples. I love summer best but winter clothes and colours that are warm and cosy. I love that Nail Pure red -Wow !!

That Sally Hansen colour looks gorgeous, not a colour I would usually go for either. I also like the nails inc colour and I've never tried that brand before either.
