When it comes to hair advice, the quickest and easiest route to get the knowledge you need is YouTube. The place offers an abundance of folk with opinions on hair, thoughts on hair styling, reaction videos on hair gone wrong with info on why it went wrong. One can easily lose hours going down hairy rabbit holes. And one knows this because one has.
But what takes your average hair influencer YouTuber and elevates them above the rest? Knowledge helps. A lot. As does personality. And then there's that secret sauce that's hard to put your finger on, but is a must if you're going to have success in the influencing sphere... charisma.
With that in mind, we nutted out our favourite hair-loving YouTubers, so that you too can enjoy dropping down into that YouTube hole of colour and cut, and do's and don't's.
Oh, and should you choose to hit the play button, you might hear the odd word that would make my nanna's lips pucker. You have been warned. Volume down or earbuds in. With that said and done... who are five of our fave hair YouTubers? Watch on...
With over seven miilion subscribers, Brad Mondo is a YouTube superstar. No doubt about it. He's also the YouTube hair favourite of BR Merilyn. Whenever we perk up with a hair question, BR Merilyn will fire back with 'well, Brad Mondo said...' followed by a gem of advice that'll see us right. Fun, funny, and he knows his stuff, he's a must-watch.
Curly hair do care? Then Manes By Mell is for you! She isn't a fountain of knowledge when it comes to curly hair, she's a veritable waterfall! With product reviews, product demonstrations, do's and don'ts, hair cutting advice and more, Manes By Mell is a one to watch for our curly-haired beauties.
In my opinion, Guy Tang is for those who are not afraid to get colourific with their hair. Or for professionals. The hair transformations he performs are next level amazing, but well above what those of us who colour our hair at home with a box colour can do. That being said, there's something really soothing about watching a professional talk about his art. Also, he uses his YouTube channel to post about his journey as a music artist. Come for the hair, stay for the music vids.
Kayley Melissa is the Tati of the hair world. There's something so calming, and friendly and sweet and nice and soothing and all those best-friend qualities, that make watching her a relaxing experience. Kick back in your fuzzy socks and cosy bathrobe, eat some chips n dip, and let her walk you through hair style tutorials, product reviews and hair tips that'll see you with your best mane ever.
How could we not put Jonathan Van Ness in this list? He's such a delight to watch. Wild and zany one moment, serious the next, Jonathan knows his stuff and is not afraid to share that information. His channel also dips into skincare and life advice, which we're here for. The icing on the cake? It's a way for us to get an extra Queer Eye fix while the show's on hiatus.
This is interesting never watched YouTube hair stylists before
