I'm quite new to waxing. I tried many years ago with some strips my sister got, it put us both off for years. Then recently there was a discounted product at Farmers...well there was a reason that was discounted. OUCH! But this sugar product...well it may have just changed my mind.
When I first saw the packaging it looked like it was a jar filled with golden syrup. When I opened it up, the product was rock hard though, not like syrup (although it has a nice sweet scent) This was just because it was cold. 10 seconds in the microwave made it a syrup that was easy to smooth across my skin.
I decided being a waxing rookie I would start with my legs. It was so easy! It definitely wasn't painless - but it wasn't as painful as the other methods of waxing I have tried. I felt confident doing both my legs and managed to get most of the hair, there seemed to be the odd bit that was a bit stubborn.
I really like how it is so much easier to remove than wax too, that stuff sticks to EVERYTHING. This sugar formula was easy to remove with a cloth and warm water.
It has been two weeks since I did it and the hair hasn't come back yet, this is awesome. My hair grows so fast :( Can't wait to keep using this...and maybe be brave enough to try it in other spots ;)
I have been lusting over this since I saw the trial team. I didn't get on the trial, but I did pick it up in the vault and I'm so glad I did. I was skeptical - could sugar wax be the answer to my problems? A day after my vault goodies arrived, I cracked into it. The brown box is simple with all the info, and inside was a gorgeous frosted glass jar with the delicious amber wax within. I removed the lid and was hit in the face with the scent of toffee apples! Oh god, I think I drooled a little. I set about getting some stuff prepared to start waxing my lady area, like a bowl of hot water for the wax, a cloth and some scissors to cut up the strips.
Fail. The wax adheres well to the hairs, but it does not pull them out nicely. After 2 hours of failing I gave up trying my lady area - the pain wasn't worth it. I was swollen, sticky and sore, and really not enjoying my experience. I had used minimal wax, as I've never used sugar wax before, so I was quite disappointed. The hair has since grown back and I have had so many ingrown hairs - I don't think I'll use this down there any more!!
However. I plucked up the courage to try my legs, and oh my god. It was like the easiest thing in the world. Slather, rip, wipe with damp flannel, repeat. I couldn't believe how well it was working on my legs, and how painless it was, and they had less than 1cm of hair on them. I sat in a state of euphoria as I pulled all of my leg hairs out - 3 WEEKS later, the hairs have barely grown back, it's a little sprinkling of stubble and that's it.
I have also given my armpits a try and I just can't get the wax to work - I don't know what I'm doing wrong. This would have been perfect as my razor has been irritating my armpits to the point where I scratch them raw.
The wax claims you can pull it with the hairs, I've found that no, you cannot do this. So other than that, and the pain from the lady area and the fact I can't use it on my armpits, I'm happy. I'll gladly continue to use this on my legs and be dolphin smooth, baby.
Tips: Does NOT taste like toffee apples. You've been warned. The strips are also reusable! Just a wash in warm water, leave them somewhere nice to dry and viola!! Thanks MalloMiss :-) Do not heat over the 15 second suggestion, it will get burny hot and you will burn yourself.
