When i heard about this product on BR, it sounded too goo to be true! Plus it was a version of waxing i had never heard about. Sugar waxing! It sounded delicious, but i really wondered if it would work.
This product comes in a understated cardboard box. Nothing exciting and something i would work straight past in the store. The wax comes in a frosted jar, with a plastic black lid. The jar is transparent and you can see the wax inside. It also comes with the wax strips, and two wooden spatulas.
The wax looks just like golden syrup. Its had the rich dark caramel colour to it, and the same sticky quality. It has a really thick consistency when it is at room temperature, but it is winter so no suprises there. I just leave it near the fire for a few minutes to warm up and thats when the wax looks more runny, and is easier to spread.
This wax is really easy to use. You just spread it over your hair, rub the wax strip over the hair, and then pull the wax strip off. Easy as 1, 2, 3.
I find this wax pretty effective, and one good strip is all it takes to remove most the hair, although a few straggly hairs remain Also this sugar wax is meant to be less painful than other wax strips. I haven't really used many other wax strip so can't comment on that aspect, but i do not find these painful to use at all (other than the expected slight twinge when the hairs get pulled out). Also my skin does feel sensitive after being waxed, but that's expected.
Overall, yes i would use this product again, even though it is time consuming, it saves me from shaving my legs every other day, and its not too painful either.
I used the Aio waxing body sugar on my legs. This product claims you can pull the wax strip off in the same direction of the hair, but I found like normal wax the strip needs to be pulled the opposite direction to remove the hairs which made it just as painful as normal at home waxing. However, I found this product to be a lot more effective than any at home waxing kits I've ever used before. It pulled out practically every single hair first go. There was no need to wax the same spot again which meant my skin was far less red and sore than it has been after using other waxing products. Only the hair follicles were a little red. I loved the soft material of the waxing strips, I found them to be far more effective than the paper strips as they did not rip and contoured well the areas like my knees. Overall I found this to be a very good at home waxing kit. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to wax at home.
Tips: Make sure you do heat up the wax a little beforehand, it makes a big difference. Apply a thin layer of wax to the skin and ensure that the wax is very well stuck to the strip before pulling it off.
