My skin was looking lacklustre, so I thought I'd give the Elizabeth Arden Hydra-Plumping Serum a go.
First of all, the packaging is simple, and the capsules are the twist the top off and squeeze type. I'm not a fan of this kind of packaging, but did enjoy their other capsule oil/serum product so didn't let it put me off.
The serum is quite thick and white-ish opaque-ish in colour. It smooths easily onto the skin and is VERY silky. Unfortunately I didn't like the way it felt on my face very much at all. That being said the product did work beautifully in that it plumped my skin as promised, and gave the look of less fine lines and more health. Makeup went on afterwards without any issue.
I'm torn about this as it does what it says it'll do, it works well, but I can't get past the feel of it on my face. It's a yes in terms of doing what it promises, but I don't see myself getting it again and will look for a less slippy looking serum in the future.
I was given a couple of sample capsules to try. Firstly i want to say i liked the choice of capsule colour for this serum. I think it reflects it’s chemical properties quite well. The first thing that came into mind was innocence and purity, reflecting the light, and soft texture of this serum.
The texture was a soft, whitish, slippery, light, airy, and gentle silicone-like whipped serum. It just guides effortlessly over your skin when applied.
I felt this serum would be more suitable for those with a more dehydrated or dry skin type, over those with oily skin, who may prefer a more clear gel-like serum. My skin is always tight and feels thirsty after shower so i found it to be a nice and comfortable treatment for my skin. I didn’t mind the slight feel of silicones on my skin. Or maybe because i’m a little biased as i find most hyaluronic acid-based skin care suit my thirsty skin type.
The next morning i could feel my skin nice and plump and hydrated. Especially my cheeks which were nice and soft. A treatment i think will benefit my skin type as an overnight treatment on my driest nights.
But oh how i wish there was a mini capsule for those with a smaller face ratio. As maybe some days i dont need to use the whole entire capsule in one night.
My next to try would be Elizabeth Ardens’ Advanced ceramide capsules. Looking forward to this moment.
