I purchased two of the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks after looking for a new, everyday shade and formula. These promised to be non-drying, pigmented and easy to apply, all packaged in a bright, girly tube. I purchased Peony and Nude. Peony wasn't the right pink for me, so I have only worn Nude.
Of course I have to mention the packaging. It’s gorgeous – girly, fun and fabulous whilst remaining sturdy and practical. I know many people don’t like the ‘unhygienic’ furry applicator, but I find that it provides an easy, accurate application. I don’t share my lip products and I don’t suffer from cold sores, so it doesn’t seem unhygienic for me. Compared to a standard lipstick or pencil product, this option does not deteriorate or loose its shape.
The formula is . . .fine. It is more drying than I expected, but I suppose the longevity of the product makes this necessary. When my lips are already a little dry, I can’t stand applying this product. It feels icky and really highlights the dryness of my lips. Although this product doesn’t immediately dry my lips out, I wouldn’t wear it two days in a row. Let that be a warning for those who struggle with dry lips. If my lips are in good condition this product is great. The pigmentation is high and it lasts a solid 4-5 hours. The shade does deepen on my lips after an hour. However the formula and shade isn’t anything special. It doesn’t make me feel fabulous, it does complete my makeup look, and it certainly doesn’t gather compliments from anyone in the street. It is fine, and I will use it, but I won’t be reaching for it on a special occasion or on a day where I need the confidence of Beyonce.
Final verdict: The packaging of this product is typical Too Faced – gorgeous and original. However the product inside is plain and drying. If there was a particular shade that you fell in love with – you may be able to combine it with a lip balm and be happy with the results, but I personally won’t be repurchasing.
I brought this off another BR beauty, and I'm glad I did. I have wanted to try these for the longest time. I was always cautious though because I always associate liquid lipsticks with matte and drying. While this isn't matte it is slightly drying.
The packaging is nice, a nude colour that matches the colour of the lipstick with a big gold lid. I love that this comes in a tube. I can be rough on my make up when it gets thrown from bag to vehicle to makeup box to shelf to pocket and this tube has survived.
Being a liquid lipstick I know I have to be prepared and scrub my lips first then apply a reasonable amount of lip balm. The tube has a soft sponge type tip that is angled and I find it makes applying it very easy. It applies easily and doesn't go on streaky or patchy.
The formula seems quite thick and sticky at first but once it dries I can't really notice it. It has a gorgeous shine and the colour for me is the perfect nude. It is slightly drying even with lip balm, I have noticed it slightly transfers but nothing major as this lipstick lasts for 3 hours before I need a touch up even when I eat.
Overall I like it and want to try more in this range.
