Confusing

My first problem with this is the instructions. It says daily serum, but then goes on to how to use once a week. They should definitely look into this.

The dropper is useless, the product is too thick, nothing ever comes out of it, the dropper is full, but I just have to slide my fingers on the side of the dropper to get product off. Not very hygienic and so I use a lot more product than recommended.

It smells nice, I tap it into my skin lightly before I apply my nightcream. I don’t use it daily, just when I remember. I don’t see a difference between the days I use it and when I don’t, so not sure what it’s doing or if it’s actually doing something!?

I’ll use this up, but I’m happy I didn’t pay for it, I picked this up in the vault, I definitely won’t repurchase and it didn’t make me want to look into this brand any further. :/

Wild Ferns Radiance Moisturizing Honey Emulsion

This is a nice product. The ingredients are mostly natural, the honey scent is delicious and I find it soothing and comforting on sensitive skin. I've used this when my skin is oily, when it's dry and when it's been sensitive and it need of extra nourishment and it's suited my skin every time and given a subtle glow and radiance. Honey is one of the few all rounders that benefits every skin type and helps in some way with almost every skin issue from acne to dry and sensitive skin. I think the price for the product isn't too bad. Now here's where it gets a little confusing it says to use the product 2-3 times a week. I don't understand. I would if it had acids or some irritating skin ingredient that would disrupt the acid mantle or cause irritation and redness if used daily or twice a day. I don't see anything irritating in this. The box says the manuka honey has over 80% manuka pollen but I think that it's possible that manuka honey in general does. And as someone with chronic hayfever I haven't had any irritation or allergies from using this, in fact it's soothed my skin that was irritated and red from hayfever. I also think the product needs a bigger dropper or something as the product is a big thick to use a dropper. I can still get it out but I think a bigger dropper or a pump would've been more efficient. Other than those two cons it's a lovely product I enjoy using under and in place of a moisturizer some nights. I have nice a radiant glow after I use it but that gone the next morning, although using it calms down my skin and helps to keep it hydrated. It also wears nicely under makeup it feels like a moisturizer when I first apply it but then it absorbs and my skin feels plump. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a moisturizing honey emulsion.

Tips: Ignore the 2-3 a week suggestion, it's gentle enough to use anytime you want really. I have skipped layering a night cream over this in my T-zone at night as I find this moisturizing enough for the oily areas of my face.

Sadly did nothing for my skin

I was lucky enough to get this product in one of the beauty vaults a long time ago. I'm one of those skincare and makeup hoarders so it can take me ages to get around to using something! I have recently finished up this bottle so thought I better get on to reviewing it!

I'll start with packaging. I think this looks nice and sleek with a clear yellow glass bottle. It's good to be able to see how much product you have left. It has a eye dropper style of application. This works well for oils but I find this product is just a bit too thick and it was sometimes hard to get enough product. For about the last third of the bottle, it was pretty much impossible to use the dropper so I had to shake some out and would invariably get too much out so it was wasteful too.

The actual product smells incredible, it has a really nice light scent of fresh honey. The texture is slightly thick but also easily spreadable and a little goes a long way. I did find it felt slightly sticky on my face but it dried down quite quickly.

I used this product three times a week for about 3 or 4 months that the bottle lasted. I honestly noticed no change in my skin. I'm 31 with slight eye wrinkles and very dry skin. I didn't see any brightness, change of texture or just any general small change. I was quite dissapointed as I have used this brands night cream and really enjoyed that product.

I wouldn't purchase this with my own money and I can't recommend this either. Super sad because it's a NZ product and filled with so many good ingredients!

Good value

I think for the price this serum is worth it, it does have a nice feel on the skin and a little goes a long way as it's rather thick in consistency and saying that the tincture is not the best for this product you may end up just shaking it out of the bottle especially to get the lat of the product

Honey, Oh Sugar Sugar...

This product was in the vault recently and I have a love for serums so I knew I had to get my mostly clean hands on it. The yellow enticed me and I loved the idea of the honey in it. It arrived in a very timely fashion, maybe 3 days after the vault itself, and I couldn't wait to wash my face and test this out.

The box is quite attractive to the eye, on the front is honey being poured down from flowers, and the flower theme continues around the box, as does the gorgeous golden honey color. All of the information is on the box as well, so I kept it!

The bottle itself is a golden honey color as well, with a white dropper top. A glass pipette is snugly inside, surrounded by the creamy white serum. The serum is quite runny, but also it feels quite thick. On the face it sort of melts and becomes a bit sticky as you rub it in, but it fades quickly and you can definitely tell when it's rubbed in. It does sit on my skin funny though, and my skin still feels a bit sticky, like I have rubbed honey on my face.

The smell is very much like honey, but I also pick up a bit of a floral scent as well. I like the smell but then sometimes I find it a bit off putting and then I don't like it. I am uncertain if I like this product, I know I wouldn't repurchase it. I haven't seen it do anything for my skin, other than make it slightly more sticky than normal.

I do think there is a design flaw with this bottle, everything is perfect except the pipette. It's too big for the hole. Product sticks on the outside of the pipette and when you try to put it back in, it's like playing operation, because if you touch those sides the product will go over the lip and down the side of the bottle. I also think this type of serum is too heavy for a pipette and would be better in a small pump bottle.

Manuka Goodness

I was lucky enough to get this serum from the beauty vault some time ago.

Firstly, I love yellow, so the attractive yellow box had my attention immediately. And I haven’t tried any Wild Ferns products, so my mind was open to that too.

The product comes in a dropper bottle that is 30mls, and quite big for a bottle of serum. The dropper is quite big and doesn’t pick up as much product as I like to use in one go. That’s not a deal breaker though.

I can’t really detect much scent in the product, which is quite thick and cloudy looking.

I’ve just finished using an excellent serum, so this one had a bit to live up to. It didn’t quite make the mark, but then, it is only half the price! It feels pretty average on application, but it certainly does reduce dryness. It is soft and absorbs quickly into my skin. While I don’t have particularly sensitive skin myself, I have to say it feels like it wouldn’t irritate my skin if it was sensitive.

I like the look of all the fabulous ingredients – vitamins A, C and E, with a blend of lovely oils.

The price is very reasonable at $23.60 for a good facial serum, so I would recommend it to others to try, especially if you like honey based products.

I’m not sure if I’ll buy it again, but I’m certainly happy that I had the chance to try it.

Tips: It may be a good starter product for young girls. There are some lovely products on the Wild ferns website which is worth a look 

Honey

Cloudier than my previous serums have been, however a small amount easily covered my face and absorbed well.

The dropper was a little odd, but still distributed the right amount. The dropper picks up just enough product, so no worries about having too much product to massage in. This feature did take a bit of getting used to.

Definite honey smell, so if you don't like the smell of honey - don't get this serum.

Absorbs well and I don't need to apply any further night cream due to my oily/combination skin.

Wild ferns manuka honey purifying toner review

I was sent the wild ferns manuka honey purifying toner not the Wild ferns radiance renewal facial serium to review so I am reviewing the purifying toner here. I loved using this product, the packing is exquisite, the product smells great and also works great. I have sensitive skin and it did not react to the product. I also like that if my face was looking greasy applying the purifying toner took away the greasy look and was a great base for applying the moisturiser with sunscreen. I also like that the product is 93% natural, is New Zealand made and is paraben free/ not tested on animals. It also has a handy spray bottle so the product is easy to apply.

Tips: Apply the product using a cotton wool ball or cotton wool pad, is best used after cleansing and before moisturising.

Nice enough

I picked this up in the Vault quite sometime ago and have only just come to the end of it. I like to mix my skincare up and use products according to my skin's need at the time. Wild Ferns is a brand I tend to associate with airports and souvenir shops so I haven't actually tried anything by them before.

After ordering from the Vault, this promptly arrived in a cheery yellow box. The serum itself is in 30ml honey yellow bottle with a dropper. The thickness of the serum means it is actually quite difficult to dispense the right amount (no suggestions as to how much this is on the box or bottle though). It takes a few goes to get out enough to adequately cover my face. By the time I got near to the end of the bottle I just stored it upside down then used the dropper to scrape the serum out.

This smells lovely! Not just of honey but there is also a floral hint too it so you wouldn't really mistake it for the honey you put on your toast! It doesn't look like honey either but it is sticky when applied. Once it dries down though, I feel a slight lifting effect on my skin which then feels smooth but you can tell it has a product sitting on it. It definitely needs a moisturiser over top of it. I found it sits well under BB cream.

I didn't use this frequently enough to see any long term effects but it was pleasant enough to use. I probably wouldn't use this again mainly because there's too many other products I want to try first!

No radiance for me

Unfortunately this serum just doesn’t cut it for me. This was my first manuka product I’ve tried so I had high expectations after seeing all the hype around these types of products. I received it in the BBBE Cruelty Free edition and was blown away by the actual pottle.

The contrast of the milky serum in this yellow stained glass pottle is seriously worth a double take. It comes with a functional dropper which holds quite a bit of product so you may want to go easy when dispensing the product.

The serum is a semi thick milky consistency which is light weight on the skin. It has an artificial honey scent that reminds me off the skincare section in NZ souvenir stores. I notice that when I rub it into my skin it feels somewhat sticky and once ‘absorbed’ my face is left lightly tacky. Having oily skin I can do without this feeling particularly when I’m off to bed as I don’t want the product residue getting on my pillow.

After using this four times a week for 3 months I haven’t noticed any change. No radiance, no glow - nothing. The good news is that I have sensitive skin and I didn’t react to the regular use however you won’t find me lining up to purchase any manuka serums any time soon.
