I love the Lime Crime brand, so I thought I’d give Eyeshadow Brightener a go since I’ve been looking for a great eye primer. I was lucky to get it on sale for $20. It came in very cute packaging and the tube was easy to carry around.
I squeezed a tiny amount onto my finger and rubbed it onto my eyelids (a little goes a long way). I found it to be fast drying and it had a canvas like texture on the eyes. I applied my desired shadow per usual and noticed the Lime Crime Eyeshadow Brightener intensifies the shade and holds the eye shadow for hours.
The Lime Crime Eyeshadow Brightener is a great product and my favourite eye primer. It’s definitely worth trying!
I have only used a couple of eye primers but this one was definitely better than the other one I had been using for years. The one I was using came in a pot and this came in a tube. Personally I preferred the tube because if you're going to hold on to makeup as long as I do you're going to want the most hygienic options you can find, right? Plus I have long nails at times and don't like getting products under my nails. The eye primer is white which provides a nice blank canvas that makes your brighter eyeshadows and eyeliners stand out more. I have oily monolids and this keeps my eye shadow in place and brighter for hours. I do have to make sure though that wherever I put the primer I have make sure gets covered with eyeshadow, otherwise the stark white detracts from the look. I find that it makes not just bright colors stand out, but any eyeshadow I apply over it looks truer to the shade it is in the pan and the same with my eyeliner pencils. I do experience some creasing and fading at probably around the six hour point, especially if the quality of my eyeshadow isn't as good at staying put or isn't matte. The primer doesn't irritate my eyes and goes on smoothly that is until it hardened. The major con for me about this product is that it is very, very difficult to get out of the pretty peach tube. The product seems dried out near the top of the tube and it is really hard to squeeze out the dried out portion doesn't go on smoothly either. When I do my eye makeup I don't have lots of time and so I find not being able to easily squeeze the product out of the tube kind of frustrating. Because of that I probably won't repurchase this.
Tips: I like to take a very tiny amount on an angled or fine pointed eyeshadow brush and apply it to my lower waterlines to prep it for colorful liner. If you do buy this do keep in mind that this product seems to harden in the tube and so be prepared to part with it or just buy another eye primer.
