Similar to a Strobe Cream.

Like many of the other reviews, I received this as a sample in my BRBB. Being a fan of Shiseido, I was stoked to get this to try as I love anything that helps my dry skin look more luminous.

The packaging for this is really stunning. It comes in a matte silver tube with a black twist off too. The tube itself is super easy to squeeze out product.

The cream comes out white but applies translucent. This adds a beautiful soft luminosity to the skin and doesn't have any glitter in it, it just gives the skin a slight glow. On my dry skin this doesn't feel heavy or greasy and is comfortable to wear throughout the day.

This definitely adds a subtle glow to my skin when I wear it under foundation or BB Cream. The finish is similar to MACs Strobe Cream in my opinion, and I really love this for my dry skin.

If you're looking for a little glow then I recommend you try this or MACs Strobe Cream. His is slightly more subtle than Strobe Cream but it is a beautiful product and the only thing that would make me hesitate purchasing it is the price. It is quite expensive although a little goes a long way.

Sheseidon't know

Received this as a deluxe sample of the March Beauty Box and was super excited to try it.

The Sheseido packaging is quite lovely simple and elegant with a soft metallic silver sheen on the tube.

The texture of the primer is soft and light although it does feel greasy when you apply it. I am prone to oily skin so the greasy feel was off putting.

Make up applies great with no problems with evenness and seems to cover the pores a lot better. It does leave you with quite a dewy look so using a powder to set was a must for me. The dewy look is part of the glow and does look lovely but makes me nervous for later in the day when the oiliness tends to come out. Dewy is good, shiny not so much.

The 10ml sample lasted about a month of not everyday use. A little covered a lot, easy to apply.

Tips: If you can get hold of a sample its worth trying before you spend the money I'm sure it would work better on other skin types

If you want to glow this is what you need

Because it makes you light up like a Christmas tree full of glittering lights, and personally not in a good way.

This little tube of Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer was a beautiful treat inside the recent BRBB and I was overjoyed as I am a huge fan of Shiseido products. Upon opening and squeezing a small amount out of the tube it became apparent that the liquid has a sort of sheen effect not quite glitter but a reflective quality to it. When applied to my skin it left a slight tackiness that remained even after waiting 10 minutes for it to settle which in turn caused my foundation to become streaky when applied. Also the glow effect made my skin turn brilliant white with a really high flash back of light when looking in the mirror, far too much glow for me.

I feel that on the right skin tone and type that this would be a brilliant addition to brighten and give a healthy glow, just didn't do anything to me

Shiseido's Primer

When I saw this primer in our last beauty box I was excited to try it. To be honest I don't really use primers under my make up. But since my skin has changed into being acne prone I find that I need to have that extra coverage.

This little sample tube I got seemed to last me a few weeks. Its a ten ml bottle that I got many uses out of it. When I apply this on my face it covered well. It has a slight greasy after feel. It looks like a medium thickness cream. It has a slight scent to it.

My results from using this was minimal coverage, I found it to almost disappear into the skin. I wasn't happy with the greasy after feel. I definitely wouldn't go out and buy it for its price tag. I think its overly priced.

So-so Glow

I love Shiseido products and was excited to receive this Glow Enhancing Primer in the Beauty Review March Beauty Box. Also I’m not one for using primer usually so I was very curious to find out how much difference it would make to my make up.

The product comes in a cute silver tube with a black cap. It is very classy looking in tune with Shiseido’s usual sophisticated branding. It is a white cream, and is soft and simple to use and apply. I didn’t notice any scent.

The product describes itself as an oil-free primer that enhances skin's clarity, for a brilliant quality that adds a natural, vibrant glow to the finish of various foundations all day long. It is non greasy and does absorb into the skin quite easily. I find it leaves a light coating that helps my foundation glide on smoothly and evenly, but I don’t notice a glow that lasts all day unfortunately.

It is a nice product and somewhat helpful in improving my foundation, but for $65 I could never justify purchasing it myself. I would be happy to discuss it with my friends, but I’d be reluctant to actually recommend they buy it, as the outlay is big for anyone who only finds it ‘nice’ like I did.

Tips: For dedicated primer connoisseurs, it might be good to look out for this product on a good special buy in order to try it without the big cost.

Middle of the road, at best.

I have always had an appreciation (but not necessarily the budget) for Shiseido as a brand and when the Beauty Review March Beauty Box contained a deluxe sample of this primer I was stoked. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed.

The primer, dual named Glow Enhancing Primer/ Base Eclat Intensif comes in a gorgeous little silver tube with a black cap. Like all Shiseido Products it's quite elegant and simple in its packaging.

The primer itself is a white cream with a vaguely pearlescent glow in the right light. It is odourless and the colour disappears on the skin.

I applied this under my makeup every day for about 6 weeks and was expecting it to make a difference to the way my skin appeared. It simply doesn't. It offers up a dewy look on first application but for me that seemed to be about all it did. Once my makeup was on I could do one side of my face with and one without and see absolutely no difference. Again, in the right light, you can notice a faint sheen before your makeup goes on, but that's about it.

I have a similar product from another brand that is far superior to this primer and a lot cheaper. I have heard other girls rave about this and kind of wish I'd given my sample to one of them rather than battling on because it doesn't seem as if it was the right one for me personally. At $65 there is no way I'd buy it again.

The pluses? It feels nice, didn't break out my skin, did help my foundation go on more evenly - and it was free.

Koni my regular 'glow' primer might be more what you are looking for? Hard to get in NZ unfortunately but I love it: Victoria's Secret Fresh Face Brightening Gel Cream. Not a 'primer' per se but def peps up my skin

Darn it! I was really looking forward to the "glow". Great review Trudi, I always like to know the colour of a primer and if that colour is still visible once blended - very helpful!
