Far too harsh for skin. It leaves my skin feeling very dry and tight, and I immediately have to apply moisturiser lest I feel like I'm going to crack. I feel like it ruins the top layer of my skin. It doesn't leave any lasting damage it just feels uncomfortable. I have dry skin, so it might be more better suited for someone with extremely oily skin already.

Reviews
I use this product when my acne is at its worst. This wash makes my skin so dry that it flakes. When i do use this product I moisturize a lot afterwards to ensure my skin isn't really dry. I would only recommend this product for people with oily skin or with bad acne as its to harsh for dry skin.
Just to make things clear I have never suffered from Acne, I have been very fortunate with having clear skin for the majority of the time but a week before and during the time of the month my face turns into pimple puss town. Normally I have normal to combination skin and I was lucky enough to be sent a bottle of this a few months ago.
The gel formula is quite thick, it has a subtle Aloe Vera smell and a smooth texture when you apply this to your face. It removes all the excess makeup and dirt that has been built up through out the day.
The first time using this my face felt refreshing and a bit tight afterwards, this was followed by a drying feeling on my face which I had never experienced before. I panicked, and then I saw it was normal when using this cleanser. After my experience I started using it only when I was warming up to the time of the month, it made my pimples come and go so quickly, it also kept the redness from the pimples at bay.
I can see why this isn't for everyone's skin type, this has helped my skin a lot when its the time of the month, whenever I use this I make sure I moisturize.
I will definitely buy more in the future.
This was the first product I used that dried out my skin so badly that it actually made it flake around my nose/mouth/chin :( However, it was effective at controlling acne, and when I retried it a couple of months later (in summer rather than winter, using only once a day at most, and moisturising well afterwards), I didn't suffer from any irritation. The risks mean it's probably better for those with acne prone skin to use a gentler cleanser and target acne with leave on applications instead.
Tips: Patch test thoroughly! And always moisturise well after use.
Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Wash is not the best cleanser, and definitely not one for sensitive or dry skin.
This product dries out any acne and so reduces acne, but in the long term this product would do more harm than good for sensitive skin. This product tends to dry out sensitive skin like mine. The scent is nothing special, though it doesn't linger too much on the skin. You do get a fair amount of cleanser for the price, so this is a very budget friendly product.
Overall, this might be a good product for oily or combination skin that can tolerate harsher treatment, ie exfoliating beads. I wouldn't buy this again, as there are many better alternatives out there.
Tips: If you do have this product, use this with an oil free moisturiser to be safe.
If you have sensitive or dry skin, it is best to avoid this product.
I tried this product and while it did clear up my skin of zits it was also very harsh on my sensitive skin and gave me a rash after about a week of using it every evening. If you have skin that can tolerate a harsher product it is effective at eliminating zits. Not recommended for anyone with sensitive skin or allergies to salicylic acid.
I purchased this when my skin was breaking out really badly, I had seen the ads on TV, and thought maybe it'd be a great product to help clear my skin. It does have Salicylic acid but not enough to actually help clear acne.
This was an ok wash, it smelled refreshing and clean, it foamed really well, but sometimes it just left me feeling a little too clean, and would often dry me out. A tiny bit goes a long way, and you will definitely need a moisturiser after use.
Tips: Hydrating moisturiser is a must.
I had suffered huge break out in the last few months. I tried high end cleanser and natural cleanser but nothing help until i find this one. It doesnt clear my acnes but i found my skin is cleaner and has less break out. Yes my skin is soft and smooth like baby butt, also brightener. The downside is it dry my skin out badly. I have to use moisturizer straight away after wash otherwise my face cant move. It removes make up quite well. Overall i would still use it but less often.
Growing up I had terrible acne from the age of 11 to 18. I tried everything, and it wasnt until I was 16 I came across this product and have been using it ever since. With the combination of the face scrub this product is dynamite.
It cleared my skin and made my skin less oily. I continue to use this to this day. Its affordable, lasts ages and delivers results.
My skin is generally good but I got this cleanser for summer when my skin feels a bit more oily. It's been great, I don't know how good it would be for people with acne-prone skin but it cleans really well and doesn't dry my skin out. I follow with the grapefruit scrub in the same line and my skin feels clean but not squeaky-clean. Will be buying more of this for next summer.
Tips: For normal skin, I find using this every second day (followed by the scrub) strikes the best balance between clean but not dry. I follow up with a light facial moisturiser.
