Could be better

This was on my want list for some time before I finally managed to get my hands on it.

The case layout is the same as the standard Maybelline "Nudes", clear lid so you can see all the colours, tips for colour combinations on the back, brush/applicator space and 2 double tipped sponge applicators. The sponge applicator ends are different with one slightly fatter than the other, I figure they might be good for smudging something so I haven't thrown them out but they are no good for applying the makeup unless you are desperate even then think twice, use a brush.

If you haven't heard the saying "its a crime not to prime" you will be committing a felony with using this as 4 of the light shades just show as sparkle without primer and the only matte is barely visible. Of the 12 colours in the palette, 2 are really metalllic, 1 matte and the other 9 have varying degrees of sparkle. There is no label for any of the colours and I wish there was so it would be easier to describe them,

- on the top line we have a white sparkle, pale peach pink sparkle, silver grey sparkle, pale pink sparkle, light dirty pink matte, and dirty rose gold,

- the bottom line rose gold metallic, mid brown with pink sparkle, grey toned pink sparkle, darker grey toned pink sparkle, mid pink metallic and black with pink sparkles.

If you are a matte fan, put the palette down and step away as this will blind you with sparkles. You could use the 4 lightest shades as highlighters, I have on occasion since I don't own any highlighters at present. The colours are great but the pigmentation could be better on some and even with primer I do think they need a touch up part way through the day, I am thinking of the lighter colours only. The colours are nicely milled but slightly more powdery than creamy. It is blendable but it does take a little work. I have used the darkest colour both wet and dry with no issues.

Would I buy this palette again, probably not but I will definitely finish it.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadows

This is the second Maybelline Nudes palette I have bought and the second one that I loce. I have actually panned 4 colours in this and another two colours are close.

The selection of colours in this palette are super cute, especially if you love soft, subltle looks for your eyes. There is a selection of mattes and shimmers with a hint of rose gold. So pretty.

You can create many different looks with the colours, I would say mainly soft looks as the colours lend themselves to that look but there is a couple of colours that you could do a not so subtle look. While these colours are pretty you really do have to use quite a decent amount to get a good coverage. I have used a wet brush which gave me a better colour pay off and also using an eye primer helped the colour last all day

While I do love this palette I probably will not repurchase it as I feel for a little bit more money I can get a palette that is a bit more pigmented and one that you dont have to do so much to get a good colour pay off.

Tips: I feel this palette would be awesome for a young teen or pre teen as it is a decent price and the colours are not too dark.

Maybelline Beautiful Blushed Nudes for Beginners

I was happy to get this in The Nudes Best Ever Beauty Box. I did have my eye on this palette because of the one beautiful rose mauvy beige matte/satin shade and the shade right underneath it an eye catching metalic plummy rose those two are my most favorite shades in the palette, but I couldn't justify buying this palette for just those two shades so was really happy to get a chance to have this in the Nudes box. Now there is a few other shades in this palette that I like as well like that mettalic copper and that dark brown satin shade next to the plummy rose shade. The other shades are okay. Now I do like the beautiful rose gold color of the case and that they did give the number instructions in the back if you wanted to use the palette as duos, trios or quads which does help beginners a bit as far as which colors to use with which. The colors are nice neutrals so color wise you can get a lot of use out of this palette. The things that don't appeal to me about this palette is that there's only one sort of matte shade and a satin white shade, so unless you like an all satin or all mettalic eye look following almost all of the duos, trios and quads, then there's only a few looks you can do with just this palette and that's before you hit pan on that one matte shade and the white if you want to use the white all over your lid. Another thing is that most of these shades lack pigment especially the lighter shades so I really have to build them up, especially on my monolids. And then the wear time before they fade and crease isn't good in comparison to the other eyeshadow palettes I have. I think if I had gotten this palette a few years ago I would've been impressed but now that I've known how well some other brands perform I feel this falls short. That and discovering mattes work better for my monolids than other shimmery, shiny textures. Having mentioned that the palette that I love so much atm costs twice as much as this palette and I get probably about three or four times as much eyeshadow so I don't think for the amount I got it's expensive. Maybelline is a drugstore brand and so I don't really expect it to out perform more mid to higher priced brands. I will be giving this palette to my youngest sister who doesn't have much eyeshadow and needs some neutral shades for school.

Tips: If you are used to pigmented eyeshadows or really like matte eyeshadows you may find that this isn't a palette you reach for a whole lot. So if you have better performing eyeshadows I wouldn't purchase this. But if you're just dipping your toes in eyeshadow this might be okay for starters. That being said, I think there are better palettes out there for beginners and I personally would rather spend more and get better quality but this is okay on the basis that they don't have a lot of experience with other eyeshadows so they won't be disappointed since they don't have much for a comparison basis as far as pigmentation and how long it lasts.

it's ok

I got this little palette from the nude box by best ever beauty box. I've seen a lot of talk on these maybelline palettes, positive and negative so I was happy to be able to try one to put my 2 cents of opinion in the mix.

I think the packaging of this is pretty. I love pink so of course I love the rose gold metallic color of the palette. It's made of plastic and feels pretty sturdy. It doesn't have a mirror but it does have a clear Window so you can see all the shades without opening it.

The shadows do look really pretty to look at too. You get a really nice mix of pinks, bronzes and some browns. This also has a pretty even mix of warm and cool tones, a bit more warmer though. It is mainly shimmery shades though. There is a mauve matte which I've enjoyed using as a transition shade and a darker brown matte. I would have loved a light brown matte in here as well so I wouldn't have to incorporate another palette alongside. I find the shades blend well but they just don't have enough pigment in them. You really have to layer the shadows but even then, you don't get an intense look. The shimmers are best applied with your finger, a brush picks up more glitter than color. They last most ofethe day on my lids, I do use primer though.

I think this palette is marketed at beginners, so I think the it is an OK palette for that. I don't think it's amazing but it's not the most awful palette I've tried. I do really like a couple of the shades (the matte mauve and a deeper rose shimmer), so I think I'll reach for this occasionally. I won't bother to try out the other maybelline palettes though.

A dupe for the naked 3?

For me this was too plain but for some one with fair skin it is okay if you have dark skin I think some of the shades might not show up as they lack depth. A couple of the shades are glittery but not foiled or amazing shimmers there is the type of formula that is sort of a satin a matte with some glitters. None of the shades stand out for me as very likeable but those who like soft looks could enjoy this for everyday. This one is like a copy of the urban decay naked 3 but the naked 3 is far better in terms of pigment and has more true matte shades and the shimmers have more luster. The Maybelline has only like one true Matte and its a very pale shade. I would not re purchase this one but that is more because I am very drawn to some pops of bold hues. I also like shimmers very boldly pigmented like foiled pearly I don't really like loose glitter particles falling out.

Pretty in the palette, not really my thing

I was given this, and it's super pretty in the palette, but I'm more of a brights and bolds fan and so I've not used this anywhere near as much as my more dramatic options.

The packaging looks a little cheap to me, with a peachy plastic outer and a clear window to see the product through. The pans are a decent size, but I've had the shadow come loose from two in a bit of a brick, which shouldn't really happen.

Colour payoff is subtle but pretty, and the shades complement each other. They're relatively fine milled and blendable, but very much rosy nudes for a 'lil bit of makeup' look.

Pretty, just not for me.

Tips: Swatch in store so you know if this is something you'll wear. If not, follow my lead of using this palette more for base and inner corner shades.

Pack them on!

This palette came in the Ball season Best beauty box ever, this was my first Maybelline nude palette to own and I heard so many good things about these palettes.

This palette is in a rose gold colored palette and has a clip that takes a good amount of force to open, it is great for when you have those little fingers around trying to get into your makeup.

The shades are both matte and shimmers. Most have a rosey pink tone which is nothing that I own in my eyeshadow collection. I was worried as there is more light shades, lighter shades dont normally show on my skin. I have a medium skin tone (Mac NC30) and find anything light looks washed out. I was surprised that the lighter shades work well, and they make a gorgeous highlight or base for eyeshadows.

The down side is the colour pay off isnt good, you need to pack your brush with pigment before applying it to your eye lid. Blending also takes a little long than usual when using the darker shades.

Overall this palette is good, Im unsure if I would repurchase as the colours are shades I would use on rare occasions. They would be great palettes for beginners and as little gift fillers.

Tips: Use a white base to make the lighter shades stand out more. The light shimmer shades are perfect for highlighting.

Pretty in pink!

I’d been hugely keen to get my hands on this palette from the moment that I learnt of it’s existence. I held off for a while, waiting for some reviews first and despite a lack of rave reviews I still really wanted it. So eventually I decided that the best way to get it would be to purchase another BBBE containing the palette.

The colors in this palette are so pretty and versatile, I believe that they would look beautiful against all skin-tones and eye colors. Most of the colors are shimmery to varying degrees, a few are very shimmery, most are only slightly shimmery and there is 1 matte which is pale pink. There’s 4 pink colors in total, 1 off white, 3 grey, and 4 brownish/bronze colors.

Some of the colors in this palette are more pigmented than others, and overall the pigment is medium. I assume that some may be disappointed by the lack of pigment of these eye shadows, especially considering that the original Maybelline nudes palette received rave reviews. While I would have appreciated a richer pigment, i’m not too upset about it personally as I generally go for subtle eye shadow looks rather than bold ones.

I love this palette, the colors are awesome for subtle every day looks, and you can also create a smokey eye with the darker colors. If dense pigment is generally important to you however, then this palette may not be for you.

Crappy cousin of Naked 3

I had been considering getting the Naked 3 palette because of its gorgeous rose gold/copper themed eyeshadows and raving reviews. I happened to see this on trademe for like $5 so I bought this just to try out. The shades seem similar and there's definitely that rose gold, shimmery theme going on.

Now a good eyeshadow needs to be buttery, pigmented, and long staying. This scores 0/3. Its glitter is slightly on the chunky side, and has a gritty texture when applied with my finger. It doesn't pick up on my brush and by the time I transfer it to my eyelid there may as well be nothing on the brush. Even my trusty primer potion couldn't save this. I tried spraying the brush with a little bit of toner before really digging into the shadow but that made it look messy and hard to work with. As for staying power, because it's so unpigmented I really can't even comment on how well it stays. Another thing I'm quite annoyed about is how similar a couple of shades look, namely the lighter ones which both come of as 'barely-existant-white'

It does have one shade out of the 12 that I really like, and it's the coppery shimmer shade in the bottom left. It's very similar comapred to chopper from Naked 2. And surprisingly, the pigmentation and payoff is really gorgeous on this one!

The feel of this palette just can't compare to higher end palettes like Urban decay or lorac. Heck, even some wet n wild palettes I've used had been better than this. Definitely glad I didn't pay $20 something for this. I've decided to depot just the copper shade and add that to my diy palette and just chuck the rest of the palette in the back of my makeup drawer. That's another day's worry!

Tips: Just don't buy it, for the money you pay, may as well buy one or two decent singles that you really like.

Loads of sparkle

This is a palette I wanted once seeing the nudes I got gifted this palette and was super excited about it. It can be used in a combo of ways quads, tris or duos. It comes in a pink nude palette with a good size of varied shades of shadows with a few duo chrome shades. You need to use primer with these shadows. They swatch really good but when going on the lid there's zero performance apart from sparkle. So use primer. Although it's an ideal use on its own palette I'd set primer with a matte shade from another palette that performs well.or shadow single. I found using thsee shadows with ur finger gives a better pay off when using brushes the product gets sucked up by the brush. So move forward with application with your fingers. These shadows are so pretty when looking at them and it's a pity that they don't have that colour pay off for me. I think some fairer complexions get a good show with this palette however my skin tone is medium to tan with some discoloration on my lids which I think is the reason for minimal pay off. I feel if you're after a natural look with a good amount of sparkle then look no further. Also good for begginers. I fell like this pattern has duo chrome cream shadows and duo sparkle and glitter shades.

Tips: Apply with finger tips. Prime and set ur primer on your lids also try using a non duo fiber non synthentic brush the shadows work alot better
