NARS lip gloss - not my fav

I have this in the shade Turkish Delight, which is a pale milky pink colour. I purchased online and I feel I picked a shade a little light for me on it's own but it is nice on top of a slightly darker lip colour.

This is a really pricey lip gloss and it is a lovely product, but I don't think it is worth the price tag for what is is. I have much cheaper products that do exactly the same thing, if not better.

The packaging is nice and sleek, but quite basic and nothing special for the price you pay.

This isn't very pigmented, so you have to really pile it on to get good colour and it doesn't have great staying power either, it doesn't last very long and I am not sure if it is because I have a light colour, but it doesn't wear off evenly and can look quite patchy.

The lip gloss that changed my mind

I was up until I got a deluxe sample of a NARS lip gloss the hugest anti gloss fan, the whole sleek, sticky, slippery affair really put me off but that all changed when I tried this gloss, I am now a convert and love my high end glosses.

Istria (deluxe sample, 0.12oz) this pink lustre gloss that is sheer and packed with the tiny flecks of silver and gold particles that give an amazing shine and reflection to your lips, is a mini version of the full sized glosses in every detail, the packaging mirrors it's full sized siblings, the wand albeit smaller in length has the same doe foot applicator for smooth coverage over the lips. Then the formula, a thick gloss that moves effortlessly across your lips to give the right amount of shine without being tacky or slippery, the particulars are not chunky so you don't get a gross texture on your lips and it also doesn't move about much so it stays in place for a long period of time even when drinking, but eat something and it is all gone, it is a gloss after all. After being converted with this gorgeous gloss I purchased another 2 NARS glosses and other higher end makeup branded glosses of which I am in love with too. So it wasn't that I hated glosses it just appears I am a gloss snob and only like the pricey versions.

Dolce Vita (full sized) silky dusty rose colour that looks great over a nude lip pencil and has a sheen effect that has a super shiny look

Orgasm (full sized) a peach pink with a golden shimmer to it, similar to the blush that shares its name, and of course looks stunning when used in conjunction with said blush

Kissable lips

NARs.. Never fails to impress me, they have such a wide array of fantastic makeup items.

Everytime I buy something of NARs it seems to become a holy grail product for me.. Such as 'Laguna bronzer', 'sheer glow foundation' and 'Orgasm blush'

The packaging is distinctively NARs, with its modern and stylish look. It's in a long tube with a black lid. Its very sturdy and has never leaked. A perfect size for popping into your handbag.

This NARs lipgloss I brought in the colour 'Pillowtalk' (don't you love the names that they create?!).

The colour is a pinky nude colour which is just slightly darker than my lip colour. It's a beautiful, natural colour which just really enhances the colour of my lips. I was recommended this colour from the salesperson at Mecca Cosmetica, and it was a really great choice.

The lipbrush is soft and easily glides over your lips. The formula is a lovely consistency and just right. Sometimes I can be put off wearing lip glosses, as they can be sticky. What I love about this formula is its not sticky and just feels lovely on the lips.

It leaves my lips feeling moisturised and healthy. My lips look so glossy and kissable using this lip gloss, I love it!

This lipgloss is rather expensive, but its a lovely product which left me wanting to buy more colours.

Would recommend this gloss to anyone.

Tips: Go into Mecca Cosmetica and try this out!

Very pretty, but overpriced

I picked up one of these in the shade 'Baby Doll' in the recent Mecca sale.

It's very very pretty, but I got it half price and the half price amount is all I'd probably pay for it.

The tube is a good size, not so huge that you're using it forever, but a decent amount, and the classic Nars clear and black, sleek and expensive looking. The doe foot applicator is adequate, perhaps a little small and skiny but does the job.

The gloss definitely transfers and is a little tacky, as glosses tend to be, so doesn't last forever on lips but you'll get an hour or two out of it if you're not using your mouth.

The shade I have is a really pretty pearlescent petal pink, that i'm loving day to day as 'pretty but not in your face'. It suits my skin and goes well with my preferred palette of colours

Tips: If you're reading this now (early July 2020) they're still on half price at Mecca so get amongst it!

NARS Lip Gloss

When I first started getting into makeup and got out of my MAC makeup stage I started obsessing over NARS. I set myself up by purchasing as many as I could, or so it seems looking at my collection now. I have one full sized and seven of the smaller ones that they usually release in sets at Christmas time. The funniest part is that now I hardly ever wear lip gloss as I would much prefer having something with more colour on my lips and something more long lasting. I bought most of these over the internet and my full sized one from Mecca Cosmetica.

I love the packaging of these. I know some people don't like the rubberised finish that NARS do on the lids of this product. But I love it, it has a really nice finish on it. It does pick up mess from your hands from other products but overall I just think it looks nice. The bottom is just a clear frosted finish which looks really nice too. It has a small doe foot applicator, nothing fancy.

They don't feel sticky on the lips and feel almost moisturising. Overall if you find a shade you absolutely love then buy it, otherwise you can probably find something the same from a different brand much cheaper.

Orgasm - This is the full sized one I own, I love the blush so thought I'd pick up the gloss too. A great everyday peachy colour with a golden sheen. Leaves a lovely finish on the lips, kind of natural but better, just like the blush. Not particularly sticky as it isn't very thick on the lips when you apply it.

Laguna - This is brown with a slight golden sheen. Why did I buy it. I don't know. It applies quite opaquely too. If you want shiny brown lips then go for it.

Turkish Delight - I was excited to get this pale pink as it is apparently Kim Kardashians favourite. Why I thought that would suit someone as pale as me I don't know. It is almost completely opaque and gives me ghostly pale pink lips. Not flattering.

Deep Throat - Where do they come up with these names!?! This is slightly more peachy pink coloured than Orgasm with a much more opaque finish. Love it.

Easy Lover - This is a crazy bright pink with a blue sheen. It gives a sheer wash of color to the lips that I kind of like.

Angelika - A creamy bright pink that applies quite opaquely. Still a bit pale and cool toned to be flattering on me.

Sweet Revenge - A true peach. Quite sheer but a nice everyday sort of gloss.

Moon Fleet - This is a cool shade I haven't seen elsewhere, a clear gloss with golden shimmer running through it. Very pretty and great to have to put on top of other shades.

Turkish Delight

After years of umming and ahhhhing I finally picked up Turkish Delight. The shade doesn’t suit me in the slightest but with a lovely brown based nude I feel I can pull it off. Despite the sturdy plastic packaging, it looks and feels cheap which is not a good indication of the $40+ I forked over at Mecca Beauty.

When opening the lipgloss you don’t need to unscrew the lid right the way up, just 2 twists and the wand springs up – I quite like that. The wand is a doe foot applicator and probably what I detest most. It looks soft but once I press it (lightly against my lips) I can feel that it’s quite hard. I expect I bit of cushion with it.

The colour is a milky baby pink which no doubt looks amazing on fair to tan skin but for those that are part of the chocolate club like myself I think it looks better paired up with your favourite nude lipstick or lipliner.

In terms of performance it’s just average. It gives a lovely gloss but after 2 hours it begins to fade to a sheen. I don’t find it overly tacky but I do notice a manufactured kind of scent which I find a bit much. I will not be repurchasing anymore lipglosses from this range nor would I recommend it.

Tips: I pair this with MAC Pander Me (Lipstick) or MAC Soar (lipliner).

NARS

Chelsea girls Orgasm I have these two in deluxe size and they're both very different in formula and applicator but the pacakging is very much the same so I'll start there. A sleek little see thru tube with a matte black cap/lid, which has a rubber texture feel about it, Im not sie if thats the material but its cool amd different , I guess yu could compare it to the nyx lip matte creme tyoe of lid except Nars is square in shape same goes for the tube its square.Th e brand name is wrapped around the tube in their logo font. I think it's quite sophisticated. The cap is also the applicator and having the tube see thru helps with product awareness.I'm not too sure if it's acrylic or glass whichever it is, it's good quality imo. A little sticker at the bottom gives that shade name.

The shade Chelsea girls is a nude pink brown shade with a nice sheen to it, shiney but not sparkle there's no titer in this puppy. It goes on easily & has buildable coverage from a light sheer finish to a very opaque finish. The applicator is a "TINY THIN" brush applicator so unusal but it does apply product seemingly well. The product is sticky but not bad that your lips are stuck together just sticky to keep the product on & it wears down during the day. I love this shade aswell as the gloss it provides. Also has a hydrating feel about it, with no lingering build up left on the lips or corners of your lips. There is transfer, however you hardly notice it on your cups of coffee, it's as if it comes off transparent.

The shade Orgasm is a pinky sparkly gloss with the shimmer again the same type of coverage but can be streaky when applying. The applicator is a doe foot applicator which I much prefer & I guess this is the liquid gloss version to the blush. I'm going on a hunch because I don't own the blush. Again the formula is just as sticky & leaves no build up of product on your lips it just seems to wear off without the big transfer effect in your face. Which some lip products can be terrible with transfer.

I'm pretty happy with these lip products & am glad to have tried them in deluxe sizes. I'm not too sure if I'd go out & repurchase in a full size if I did I'd buy the shade Chelsea Girls because she's so pretty.

Tips: Try purchasing in deluxe size to get a good trip for a better price or even in the lipstick stash from sephora when they come out

Laguna

I received a mini tube of this with a Nars gift set in the shade Laguna. It is a brown-bronze shade (as the name would suggest) and a quite thick consistency. Its a bit tacky but this means it holds on the lips really well. It also applies really smoothly and easily.

The shade is definitely not one I would normally go for- browns wash my fair skin right out. However I recently tried this over a too pink lipstick and I loved the effect- this brought the colour back to more of a pinky nude. This is definitely something I will continue to wear and will be seeking out other shades as money allows

Nice but average

Nars lip glosses come in the most beautiful shades, beautiful packaging but unfortunately they're just your average lipgloss. I do like the applicator but i am put off from wearing this lipgloss as after time it just gets too tacky on my lips. The colour does stay a decent amount of time for a gloss though! On the downside, of course my hair still gets stuck in this product haha!

Tips: The lighter shades can be very sheer/patchy so you can always pair these with a lipstick/lip liner first

Classy Gloss

Hi, my name is Alikat and I'm a long time fan of your packaging Nars. I have three of these in the shades Baby Doll, Ophelia and Salamanca (try saying that last one drunk....)

Baby Doll is a candy pink, almost strawberry with a silver shimmer. I freaking love this lipgloss. Its the perfect workday gloss.

Ophelia is again a shimmer, but is a peachy-pink with gold and on me makes a great nude gloss for popping down to the shops.

Salamanca is a non-shimmer strawberry gloss. It looks scary in the tube, but on the lips, its great and after a few hours, you get a just bitten kind of look.

Any gloss is going to be tacky. I'm yet to meet a gloss that isn't tacky. The doe foot applicator doesn't bother me as I think it gives a more precise application, but not as precise as my beloved Lancôme gloss wands. The wear is comfortable and lasts about as long as you'd expect a gloss to last.

My only gripe is that after time, the click when closing them becomes less and less, and only noticeable when opened after you've been swatching new glosses from this line.
