The only thing I don't like about this product is the packaging. I think I'm on about my fourth of these, and every time the hinge on it has broken, and the powder has smashed. This seems to be a problem with several essence powder products, because I've had it happen with bronzer and highlighter also. However, I have a solution to this; I have several empty containers from loose mineral powder, so I just put the power in these, and problem solved! Of course, it would be better to not have to do this, but everything else about the product is great, so I will keep repurchasing it.
Anyway, on to the good points. It's super affordable, and it works really well to set makeup, and mattify skin, which is particularly useful in the summer. It doesn't look cakey at all, and isn't drying. A little goes a long way as well. I use the shade light beige in the warmer months, and pastel beige in the cooler months.
I picked this up in the palest shade available to try, as I am normally impressed by essence products. The product comes packaged in a simple clear plastic compact. The palest shade still wasn't pale enough for me, and was rather warm toned. I thought I'd be able to blend it out to hide that but this doesn't blend out well. It tends to cling to the hairs on the face and any dry patches on the skin. This is also very powdery so there's a lot of kick back and product going everywhere when using it. However, this did mattify my make up and my make up stayed oily free all day. So this definitely adds coverage to the skin and mattifies, but with the downsizes of patchy colour and lots of product kickback. The packaging is also cheap and broke quickly; the hinge for the lid broke off within a week of purchase which made this impossible to travel with. The powder is also very fragile so if you accidentally drop this, it smashes easily. It never made me look terrible, but it didn't make my skin look great either. I suspect it's almost too mattifying which is why it goes patchy and clings to drier spots of the face. If you're strapped for cash, this will do the job and you won't look terrible, but I wouldn't recommend this if you have more money to spend, there are far better performing drugstore powders out there.
