my sister and I both have dermatitis all over our hands. i have a million prescribed creams from the doctor but the only things that has seemed to work was this cream from lush (same as my sister) which i'm actually surprised about but would defiantly recommend.

Lush Helping Hands Review
Lush Helping Hands Review
Originally created with nurses in mind as well as all those with cracked and sore hands. Honey is a natural antiseptic and, together with lavender and African marigold essential oils, brings relief. An infusion of gentle chamomile helps to reduce redness, while linseed mucilage softens rough hands and helps to minimise cracking. Almond oil, shea butter and cocoa butter are what makes this cream so moisturising, all bound in a loose emulsion that ensures it sinks in.

I am a big fan of Lush moisturisers and handcreams normally as I have sensitive dry skin and have ezcema at times, so usually their products are a miracle worker but this hand cream just...is meh. The hand cream comes in the classic sturdy black recycled plastic Lush pot with white writing. I love the hand cream being in a tub as I can ensure I get the amount of product out that I actually want to use which minimizes wastage. The cream itself is a thick texture and a creamy pale pink colour. The fragrance is very plain, it smells earthy and a little bit like chamomile. It's not a super nice scent and reminds me of medicated skincare or stuff you'd get on prescription. A little of this goes a long way and it is quite greasy and takes forever to rub in and absorb into the skin. However, once it's finally absorbed I didn't find it provided much hydration for my hands at all and just didn't seem to really do anything much. This might work better for those with skin that isn't as dry as mine, but I get more hydration from $5 handcreams and this is quite pricy, so I definitely would expect good results! This didn't make my hands worse or do anything bad to my skin but I felt it was inconvenient how greasy it was and it barely made any difference to hydrating my hands at all! I will use this up but I definitely won't purchase again. In my opinion, Lush offers body moisturisers such as Dream Cream that work wonderfully as a hand cream and anybody looking for a handcream from Lush should go for Dream Cream instead.
Tips: Return 5 empty Lush containers in store to get $5 off or a free face mask. A little goes a long way of this, use sparingly as it takes a while to absorb!
I have terrible skin on my hands. It's dry all year round and since moving to Christchurch the cold weather has destroyed my hands. There are flakey dry patches and painful cracks that actually bleed.
Last winter I tried every hand cream I could find but this become my saviour. It's a heavy cream in a black pot (100g) with a pleasant earthy/plant smell.
I lathered it on every night in bed with a generous amount and the next morning would wake up with soft nourished skin. Within a couple of weeks the dry skin had vanished and the cracks were well on their way to healing.
I have continued this routine all through summer and am only just getting to the bottom on the pot now. I will definitely be repurchasing this product and am so glad Lush made a heavy duty hand cream.
Tips: Perfect for dry elbows and feet.
I first received a sample of this when I did a Lush order, and a month later after I used up my sample I bought a full sized tub. The sample literally lasted the whole month, and that was with almost daily use.
The hand cream is a gorgeous grey lavender color, and it smells a bit like lavender, and I can also smell chamomile too, which is amazing because I never know my smells. I use a pea sized amount and find that it's enough to cover my hands.
It smoothes out really well and I find the amount I use is enough to do my hands without over greasing them. Too much would be overkill, a waste, and your hands would be slippy. I also find that the amount I use absorbs really well, it leaves my hands soft, moisturized and feeling good.
I'd gladly repurchase this delightful hand cream. It's the only one that makes my hands feel good after they've been washing dishes, and it's going to last so long cos I only need a little bit. It's amazing.
I have the 45g bottle of this. I saw it cheap in Lush's boxing day sale at the start of the year so I decided to purchase it. I love hand cream and am always searching for my perfect one.
The pic shows this as a tub but mine is in a little pump bottle. I like the idea of a pump but this isn't too well excuted. I think the lotion is a bit too thick and only a small amount comes out when you pump it. I mean, you'll get there eventually but you need about 6 pumps at least.
This has a quite natural scent to it. I think it's all the oils. It's not too overpowering and while it's not my fave, I don't mind it. It is a decently thick cream but it rubs in easily. It does leave a slight oily rub to your hands after though and won't absorb straight away. For this reason, I prefer to just use it before bed.
I don't find it too bad to use, so while I'll definitely use it up (I'm about halfway done), it's not something I'm going to be looking out for and always needing in my life. I'd possibly buy it again if I saw it cheap but I wouldn't pay full price.
I got this just after Xmas when lush had a discount on all there amazing boxes, mine came in a tub so easy to use. I found the smell not very appealing it was earthy/plant smelling but non greasy which os good for a hand product. But because of the smell I haven't been using it on my hands.... I've been using it as a foot cream when I remember to treat my feet lol. It's great to pop on after a bath and before bed my feet are all soft and pretty!
Tips: Use as a foot balm, or I put a large amount on my heels and cover with glad wrap for 10mins. Works great
This was in one of the Christmas gift sets I got through the famous Lush Boxing Day sale. I received the 45g one but it also comes in 100g. Now the thing that I don't quite understand is the 100g comes in a tub. The 45g one that I have comes in a bottle with a pump top lid.
The bottle is rather small which yip of course means the pump is small so I seem to have to pump and pump and pump to get enough product out. I've also found it doesn't like to come out when it's cold -can't blame it really! Anyway I find it easier to sit it in my pocket for a while to warm it up a bit.
The scent of this is like a herbal/plant scent not one that I love, it is quite a thick moisturiser. I apply a small amount, about the size of my little fingernail, rubbing and massaging it into my poor neglected hands. I rub it in for what feels like forever and it feels greasy and oily but at the same time my hands don't feel moisturised.
After reading up on this product I read it was for cracked hands, my hands are dry and do get cracks but when I was using it I had no cracks just dry skin. It did nothing extra special to ease the dryness than a standard moisturiser, so I know it wouldn't work to speed up the recovery of cracked hands.
I wouldn't repurchase (sorry lush) as there are better hand creams for cracked and dry hands and the greasy and oily residue is annoying.
Ok so I work out doors and have fairly rough damaged hands. My best friend bought this for me after I arrived back from Europe as my hands we're cracked and calloused. It is reasonably cheap and very effective. I found it quite soothing on my dry hands and absorbed really quickly and began working straight away. After a few applications my hands had improved significantly.
Tips: I applied it at least twice a day untill I noticed a significant difference
I got a sample of this due to my hands being terrible from harsh soaps and hand sanitisers (peeling, cracking etc.... Im a nurse). Initially it was pretty hydrating. Nothing miraculous. It's relatively thick, which is hydrating, but it also leaves an oily residue. After having this for about 6 months, the smell of it got so much worse! I mean, the scent was never amazing to begin with, but after 6 months it just smells terrible! I can't even use it anymore!
Tips: Fine for an intense hand moisturiser, but use it regularly so that you use it up within 6 months!
