A touch of shimmer

I went a bit crazy at Sephora while on holiday, and bought several Becca minis, including this beauty. I love the mini compact - it has a sleek, glam look to it. I also like how just the right amount of powder seems to get on the brush without any spillage or wasting - with so many powders, you either don't get enough, and have to keep layering, or too much, and it's a waste. This gives me a healthy glow, and whenever I use it, I get compliments about how "well" I look! It is pricey, but a wonderful, glowing treat.

Subtly Shimmering

When chikoboo had her make up cleanout I took the opportunity to give this highlighter a try. This was my first experience trying a pressed cream highlighter. I first became aware of Becca through make up artists such as Jacilyn Hill. After seeing Trudies superhero task with Becca I had to give this brand a go after a glowing review. I'm still in an experimental stage with highlighters and have slowly developed techniques with each highlighter consistency.

This highlighter comes in a study plastic casing. On the lid is this silver rounded shaped lid that reminds me of a medevil shield. Engraved is Becca branding. Somehow this adds this touch of luxury which is unexpected. At first sight this formula is pressed and appears to look like a pressed powder but its not. Its a creamy formula that looks like a pale shimmery Champayne which makes you think this is going to be a coloured highlighter. There's no scent or colour at all. I was given Moonstone.

With application my first try was with a brush. It was difficult to get a highlighted effect with this so I tried a beauty blender, still it was looking like a very faint highlight. Then I had a lightbulb moment and decided to use my fingers. Hallelujah it worked. I warm my finger into this compact then apply to my upper cheek bones, nose and forehead. With a brush I go over this with a very light sweeping motion making this highlight appear naturally shimmering.

After trying this highlighter it was very tricky trying to understand how to use this. I think this highlighter is better for a naturally highlighted look. It is pricy and I definitely would like to explore the pressed powder versions as they are highly rated. It was a fun experience to try this out .

Moonstone

I received this in my Beautylish Lucky Bag and to be quite frank I am so glad I didn't pay full price for this. I just can't justify the $60+ for such a small amount of product that offers very little benefit for someone with my skin tone (reference MAC NC42-44).

I've always wanted to try the creamy formula because I've read rave reviews online but I now know that I'll be sticking with the pressed form because atleast it provides me with the kind of highlight I pay for.

I received the shade Moonstone and I actually thought I received the "deluxe" size only to find that no you're paying $60+ for 5.5g. It fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and my fingers close over two thirds of it so it's quite small which is great for travel.

It has a creamy smooth texture and one solid swatch reveals a golden ivory shade. I did notice that when swatching it, it appeared patchy however when blended it's a lovely soft champagne. On my skin tone it appears to brighten the area and gives it a lovely soft sheen but that's about it.

It's quite pointless for me to try and build up the colour because then it begins to look unnatural more of a stark ivory in contrast to my chocolate skin. I don't think it's an absolute loss though; I can still use this for days that I'm going for a natural look and want a bit of a natural glow but I have more affordable products for that.

There's no doubt in my mind I can pan this quite easily which is disappointing because it doesn't really give me the highlight I want for such a hefty price tag. So for me personally I wouldn't be recommending this to those who have a similar skin tone to mine - I'd opt for the pressed form but maybe a different shade.

Tips: I use a small flat top kabuki to apply to the high points of my cheeks.

Becca Poured

Purchased online. It's very expensive for what it does. I have the powder highlight and love that way more than this one. I would use it again to use more of what I have. I found it won't apply with a brush. I found using a beauty blender, putting it in and swirling it made the product stick to the blender. Then tap and swirl on my face. It does move the foundation applying this way. The blender I have has a point. Rub that bit in and apply to the inner corner of the eye works as well.

Packaging is a tin like compact. It matches my powder one. I love the industrial look of it

Not as in love as I am with the pressed formula

I recently purchased the poured version of pearl as it was forever sold out in the pressed format and I really wanted it, then I snagged a poured version of moonstone via Beautylish lucky bag.

The packaging is flawless and in keep with the rest of the shimmering skin perfector items just a smaller version as the poured version takes up less room, the texture is creamy with a super high pigmentation pay off, which means you need go easy with these guys.

A baby of the liquid and pressed powder format these poured version are excellent at being a skin base, and are very similar to the Mac skin base products. I find pearl to be too intense in this poured state to be completely honest and have limited its use as a inner corner eye and brow bone highlights, have yet to try moonstone though as I have 2 of the pressed versions to get through.
