I had always avoided mascara primers as I wasn't too keen on having a white base, I was positive it'd just turn my mascara grey. I then saw glowing reviews about this waterproof primer and had to try it out!
The thing that drew me in was the fact it holds a curl like a pro. My lashes are long, but they're dead straight, and most mascaras can't hold the big curl that I love going for. This formula is super light, it's not really a mascara, more like a tint, so I think because it's a lighter formula it performs much better at holding a curl.
I apply this, let it dry while I do my other eye, then go back in with the mascara I'm using at the time and I can absolutely see the difference in my curl throughout the day (created via le lash curler). It's also fab to use on its own if you're going for a super natural look and don't have jet black lashes naturally, because as I say, it's more like a tint so leaves you with a super natural look.
The brush is super thin and curved, I like the densely packed bristles but could do without the wand being curved, that took a bit of getting used to! The one downside is the price tag, I would only recommend purchasing this when Estee Lauder has a sale, or gift with purchase, because it's a bit of a splurge!
I was so excited to try this product after reading some amazing reviews for it! I received it free as part of a gift set, and thought the idea was so neat. Estee Lauder products are usually amazing (apart from the animal testing aspect) and I thought this product would work wonders on my lashes.
Unfortunately this wasn't the case. I found the Little Black Primer did honestly absolutely nothing to improve my mascara and lashes. If anything, it made my lashes clump together and appear less fluffy and feathery than they usually would, much less voluminous than if I'd just applied mascara. Really unimpressed since this is literally the opposite of what they claim on their website: "the optimal mascara base for volume, lift and length".
This product might work great for some people, but it's sadly a definite no from me!
