Tips: Expect them to be a little bit dry/ matte
I am obsessed with these lipsticks! At the moment I only have 3: 1995, Nude and All Dolled Up. 1995 is definitely my favourite, it is the perfect deep brownish/pink. Nude is the perfect nude for every skin tone and it looks amazing under a nude gloss. All Dolled Up however is my least favourite. In pictures online, it looked like the perfect barbie pink which I love but when I got it, it was a neon/highlighter pink which looked way too bright for my skin tone (i have a light/medium skin tone). The formula of these lipsticks are unbeatable though, they have matte finish but it doesn't dry my lips at all. The most amazing thing I noticed about these lipsticks is that when I drink my coffee from a mug, there is no lipstick left on the cup! So this lipstick lasts ages even if you eat or drink. Even though the packaging does feel quite cheap, it still looks pretty and the actual product is the most important part. So excited for more colours to be released :)
Tips: For the All Dolled Up lipstick I wear a dark mauve/wine colour lip liner underneath and then apply the lipstick. The colour comes out as a pinky/purple colour which I love!
I've been using Gerard Cosmetic lipsticks since they launched and I always have one of the colours in my bag.
The product itself is amazing, with the exception of Buttercup it has great pigmentation (1-2 swipes should do the trick), applies on smoothly and lasts about 5 hours on my lips. I don't notice any feathering and don't have to retouch as often.
The packaging is beautiful but I was disappointed to find it's actually quite cheap. It's incredibly light to the point I initially thought there was no product in the bullet). Out of the 7 I own I received 3 with dents (which I don't believe was due to shipping) and 1 with a crooked logo - not a deal breaker for me.
I would highly recommend 1995 and Cherry Cordial - bold colours. The one I like the least is Buttercup! It doesn't show up very well on my lips I have to lay down a pink lip liner before I can get some colour but it looks nothing like the swatches online.
I purchased my lipsticks using coupon codes and would recommend you check for available discounts before making a purchase.
After hearing all the hype on youtube about these I needed to try them. Although skeptical, I found a great discount code so went ahead and ordered 3 in the shades Nude, Buttercup and Cherry Cordial.
They come in gold packaging shaped like the MAC lippies which looks really cool now however they feel a little cheap (plastic isn't as 'heavy' as the MAC ones if that makes sense) and I suspect after a couple of months rolling around with my other products the gold may chip/flake off.
The actual lipsticks I would describe as a demi-matte finish with buttercup having the slightest bit more sheen than the rest (you wouldn't notice unless you swatches them all together). I absolutely LOVE the finish on these, I think they are so flattering. They don't look cracked and dry like some matte's however still give the matte effect which you can always add a gloss too if that's your thing.
They are all super opaque on the lips and I find I only need one or two coats with these to look fantastic. As Cat said, Buttercup is slightly more sheer than the others but can easily be built up.
The lasting power is incredible too, they last me a good few hours and are easy to touch up (doesn't go crumbly or gross)
My favourite surprisingly is Cherry Cordial, I chose this one on a bit of a whim but it is a STUNNING dark vampy berry shade that looks incredible on the lips - I will be taking this on my trip to Canada to wear (its winter there now) as it is the perfect winter shade! Be warned, it does stain though!
I feel like I'm rambling now but you get the gist I hope! These are amazing and definitely worth a go if you were thinking about purchasing them. They are overpriced in my opinion however there are plenty of coupon codes floating around so you never have to pay full price. I will definitely be purchasing more colours in the future to try!
I have 6 of the current 7 lipsticks from Gerard Cosmetics. I brought direct and found they have fast delivery. They are all quite matte formulas. They are long lasting. I find I need to apply a lip balm under and with some I need to build the colour up. But once application is made they last and look great. One thing I've found is that these make my teeth look really white. Considering they originate from a teeth whitening company I think this is great!
The shades I have are:
Nude: quite opaque with one swipe, it's a peachy nude.
Buttercup: light pink, quite sheer but buildable. It's creamier then their other shades I've found. Not as long lasting and I tend to get that gross line on the inside of my lips with this!
Tequila Sunrise: I was surprised to find this is my favourite! I don't tend to suit coral but I really liket it on me. It's very vibrant but wearable. Opaque and super long lasting!
1995: This colour represents the year 1995 well, it's a soft brown shade. Can be built up to a darker shade of brown. Very wearable.
Fire Engine: this will make your teeth look so white! A very beautiful classic red. Not as opaque as I thought it would be which was disappointing.
Cherry Cordial: dark vampy plum colour, like the red it takes a few swipes to build up the intensity you usually want with these kind of shades. I only just got this shade for Christmas so haven't tested its longevity yet.
They all have a lovely fruity scent which is nice.
The packaging is very nice, all gold encased. Similar size to MAC lipsticks but maybe a touch rounder. I have found a few faults, some wind down while applying which is very annoying.
Tips: Always check youtube or Gerard Cosmetics Instagram for promo codes, they ALWAYS have something happening!
Like many others I was very drawn to the ''Kylie Jenner" lip and had heard a lot of hype around Gerard Cosmetics and the '1995' lippy. Unfortunately I thought it was pretty hard to get my hands on it, so when I saw the website did direct shipping to NZ and were having a sale I decided to give it a try for myself.
I really like the packaging - the gold metallic casing may be plastic but it feels secure and well made and I like how it stands out amongst my other lippys.
The formula is a matte finish and longwearing, even holding up through drinking and light eating. I do find it a tad dry so I like to exfoliate before initial application, apply a lip balm and wait for it to set in before applying straight from the bullet.
1995 as a colour is everything I could have hoped for. A soft brown shade it's the perfect colour for everyday use and really does fit the 90s lip colour well. The formula is highly pigmented so one swipe is all you need but you can build the colour up to a darker shade of brown.
This is one of my most worn lippys and Id happily repurchase any of the Gerard Cosmetics shades.
Tips: The website provides fast, direct shipping to NZ.
