All the good things, none of the bad. Cleans and nourishes hair without weighing it down. This is the first shampoo bar that I have used that was easy to rub down your hair to create a lather. Nice fragrance. I loved this product and it left my hair feeling clean and moisturised. Will definitely be looking to buy this product.

Tips: Store in a dry place
I was super excited to try this shampoo, I have been wanting to see what a bar shampoo is like. Obvious bonus points for being less waste, and it smells so good! The bar lathers up easily, although it can get a bit matted with hair when working it through your scalp (there might be a trick I’m not aware of here!). It’s a bit hard to ascertain how much is needed so although the bar promises a certain number of washes I’m not sure how much shampoo is meant to be used per wash so hard to tell!
My hair felt super clean and soft using this shampoo bar and my scalp seems to love it too!
The downside for me would be towards the end of the bar, as with normal body soap, it gets too small to use properly and bits break off until you give up and chuck it in the bin to start a new one. So I’m imaging some wastage towards the end of its life!
I haven't traditionally liked shampoo bars as much as regular shampoo because I've found them drying. This is definitely one of the better ones I've tried because it was a lot less drying than most bar type shampoos.
The smell is really lovely, I love banana! However, a note of caution - if you are not a fan of stronger smells then this isn't for you because certainly not a light fragrance, it's pretty strong.
The bar lathers up nicely, and is easy to spread through your hair, which I loved. Other bars I've used have been hard to spread.
My hair felt really clean after using this bar, which was nice.
My favourite thing about this product is how sustainable it is. Buying this means no plastic waste, little water used to make the bar, and the cardboard packaging is recyclable. These are extremely important elements and I would love to see more brands making more sustainable products like this one. I love that this is a relatively affordable option too, in comparison with some shampoo bar brands. I love how accessible this is for people too, it's easy to find in the supermarket.
Tips: I'd recommend using this mostly on the scalp and avoiding the ends of your hair, to avoid drying out your ends. Shampoos in general can be drying on your ends, and I've found shampoo bars to dry more than liquid shampoo (although this one is much less drying than others).
I really liked this product it smells sooo delicious and made my bathroom smell great, it does what it says it'll do and washed my hair and cleaned it well. The only thing I didn't like is how it dried, it started cracking so not sure how it'll stand the test of time and if I'm able to use it before it crumbles apart?
Tips: Don't leave it in its box it'll get wet and stick to the shampoo bar
This was the first time I have used a shampoo bar, so was interested to see what it does to my hair. The bar comes in a bright yellow cardboard box and has a distinctive fruity scent. I wet my hair and rubbed the bar through it, producing a light foam. Left my hair feeling clean and moisturised and shiny. The scent was too overpowering for me, I just prefer a light scent in shampoo and conditioner. Also with a bar shampoo, I had to find a container to keep it from going soft and there's not much room in my shower for extra stuff. The 94% natural plant ingredients are a plus though.
Tips: I wouldn't recommend you have really long hair, just takes to long as opposed to liquid shampoo.
When I opened the box the smell was amazing. A beautiful banana fragrance that wasn't too overpowering or fake smelling. The bathroom smells of banana all the time now. The bar itself is a shape that makes it easy to hold but also stand up on its side. Wetting the hair it glides on smoothly and lathers well. Some shampoo bars I find pull the hair but this 1 doesnt, so really happy. I only need to glide over the head 3 - 4 times and that is enough to clean and lather so feel this will last a long time. It cleans the hair well and easy to rinse out. Hair feels soft and clean. I used the matching hair food conditioner afterwards and my hair feels soft.
Tips: Store bar somewhere dry to avoid wearing away quickly
I’ve been lucky enough to have been given the Fructis Hair Food Nourishing Banana Shampoo to trial with the Mask. I have medium length dry and damaged hair and been using this shampoo for a couple of weeks now.
First thing is first... can we talk about the smell?! My gosh!! It smells amazing! It makes you want to eat lots of bananas!
It left a delicious scent on my hair, and it's not overpowering. My Nephew loved the smell and I have received numerous compliments.
Packaging is nice and a little bit goes a long way and it foams up quite nicely. I would purchase this product.
I had never used a shampoo bar before and was keen to give it a go to try and minimise my plastic usage and being fast rinse, with no preservatives, artificial colourants and with many other benefits it is truly sounded like an amazing product.
For all of the reasons mentioned above I loved this shampoo bar. Not too sure about the banana smell, it was more like a sweet banana lolly but not offensive in any way. The packaging was simple and recyclable but then I had to find a storage case for the bar as it said to store it in a dry place and with a shampoo I want to store it in the shower for ease of use but the shower is not a dry place! So in a close-able container it went which I then had to make room in the shower to store. I needed to keep it in a storage container as I do not like keeping soap products on the soap holder in the shower - they get stuck, make a mess and it just doesn't work for me. I was a fan of the shape of the bar - very easy to hold. I think the shape was one of my favourite parts. I followed the instructions and not much happened - there was no foam but it did make my hair squeak. I did like the fact that when I washed it out there were no soapy bubbles in the bottom of the shower. The next time I used it I tried going from roots to ends with circular motions and this produced a much more foamy result and once again a super squeaky clean .. squeaky! It was quite a bit of effort to get the product all over my hair but when done in circular motions I ended up with much better coverage and felt like I got a better clean.
As a person with a lot of hair I probably will not continue using it despite loving everything this product stands for. I love and appreciate what Garnier are trying to do with this product and wish it was for me but for now I will be continuing to use flowing shampoo.
My mum also tried the shampoo bar. She has very short, thin hair and for her it was excellent and going forward she is 100% going to continue using the shampoo bar.
Tips: Apply roots to tips in small circular motions. Potentially more suited to those with shorter and/or thinner hair.
I received the Garnier Fructus nourishing shampoo bar - banana hair food as part of a trial team. The smell on opening the box invokes memories of a trip to the tropics. I was pleasantly surprised & pleased that it wasn't more ripe banana. The bar is tear shaped & easy to hold. The packaging is 100% recyclable & cardboard so reduces potential plastic waste. I've kept the box to store the bar in as the bar needs to dry out during washes to last longer. A slight downside as you need to remember to take it into the shower each time. The ingredients are 94% plant based & there don't appear to be any nasties in the remaining 6%. No irritations to my sensitive skin. I've used the bar 3 times over the trial period, and overall i'm reasonably happy with the results. My hair still feels a bit dry after washing but less so each time so probably it's a transition thing from using a liquid form. I've found a similar effect with other shampoo bars. It lathers well and claims are that it lasts up to the equivalent of 2x 250ml liquid shampoo. The cost is around $10.50 per bar. I'll continue using the bar but reserve final judgment for a few more washes.
Tips: Use together with the hair mask for a silkier result.
I really enjoyed using this shampoo bar. It smelt devine and lathered well with not using much. It rinsed out easily leaving my hair clean and soft. I love that it lasts so long and cuts down on plastic usage. I was impressed with the results as other bars I've used felt harsh on my dry hair. I will definitely be purchasing this again.
