This is the most beautiful product! I have fair skin and this is a perfect colour match for me. It sets my skin beautifully and gives it a lovely airbrushed look, I use a dense brush to apply all over or if I want the really airbrused look then use a puff to press it into the skin. These last a really long time and are worth the investment.

Tips: If you're unsure whether you want to commit buy the mini version first!
As a beauty lover I have long heard about Hourglass and their beautiful Ambient Lighting powders, how they were raved about as "holy grail" products you had to have. I was always turned off by the price tag and how they were less available than other brands I frequent so I couldn't have a looksee in person to see if they were worth it so I gave it a miss.
Recently this changed however when Mecca Maxima opened up locally for me and I was able to go and have a nosey myself. I was in need of a new setting powder, I was completely out, and asked one of the friendly staff if they had any recommendations for such and she recommended Hourglass Cosmetics Dim Light. I had always assumed this was a highlighter so was suprised to learn that it worked well as a setting powder (she was wearing it herself) and that it was made to suit all skin tones. I was a bit dubious about that as in the pan it looks like a pale powder but convinced otherwise by her testimony thought I would give it a go.
If you haven't used Hourglass' powders before they have the most beautiful packaging, reflective chocolate casing which is quite sturdy so good for the handbag.
The powder itself is finely milled and comes off not so much translucent but fair, but when applied to skin it's colourless. I have combination skin which has been oily but is currently very dry and it sets my makeup beautifully while giving off the slightest glow, my skin but better.
I now have this in both the solo powder for my handbag and also now the palette, more on that later! I highly recommend if you're after a fantastic non-hue-specific pressed powder to give this one a go.
I first had this when I was in a massive matte/dramatic phase with makeup and didn't fully appreciate it. I used it but it wasn't giving me the look I wanted.
I'm a bit more subtle and glowy these days, and have fallen in love with my second purchase of this, made recently. I have the smaller size, in Dim Light.
Hourglass packaging is subtly stunning, this is a small bronze compact with a secure clasp and small internal mirror.
The fine milled powder basically sits on top of your foundation (or on bare/primed skin) to get a natural glowy shimmer (not a highlighter sparkle, just a 'lit from within' radiance).
It settles beautifully and looks stunning. I'll more than likely purchase a full sized when I pan the baby one.
I love this powder! Although I don’t use daily I love to use on special occasions to give my face a glowy luminous effect and it does a fantastic job at that!
I was super sceptical about buying this because of the price but it's so worth it, I have mine in Dim Light I think and I use it as a highlight and an under eye setting powder which stops my concealer from creasing. On days when I want to look super dewy I'll set my whole face with it. It's so finely milled and soft that you hardly feel it on your face. It gives such a perfect glow and a little goes a long way
I use this in radiant light as a everyday bronzer give me a barely there bronzed look with a natural glow have repurchased and will keep doing so.
I have a warm based, medium skin tone and whenever I use this product, it instantly turns my cheeks ashy and have to restart my makeup. The finish is really lovely and I really would love to buy this in another colour
Tips: Strongly suggest trying it in store before purchasing to make sure it suits your colouring
I purchased this powder after hearing all of the rave reviews on youtube. After doing quite a bit of research (as I always do when spending that much money on makeup) I settled on Diffused Light. The reason that I got this shade was because I have a wee (ok a lot) of redness on my cheeks. This shade is a pale yellow and said to conceal redness.
The packaging is great I find that it is very sturdy, yet not too big. Great for travelling and I have had no problems with any breakage. It has a large mirror in the lid also which is nice.
Onto the product itself. Yes I think this is brilliant. The powder it self is very 'finely milled' (you can tell I watch too much youtube). But it means the product goes onto the skin very nicely. I use this product in two ways. I like to do a light dusting over my face with a fluffy brush and it seems to blur the redness and imperfections. It is hard to describe as even when I look at my own face I can't really see it but I can tell when I haven't used it. Recently I have also been using this with a more dense brush and it makes a lovely subtle highlighter. It has a wee bit of sparkle which isn't noticeable when lightly put over your face but when used in a more concentrated way it is lovely.
Overall I love this product and will consider buying more of these powders. Please however if you are considering purchasing this do your research and pick what powder will do the most for you.
Tips: Be careful with your expectations of this powder. It doesn't give coverage, or set makeup particularly well. But it does give an effect I haven't found in any other make up product.
I first saw the Hourglass Dim Light powder on Chloe Morello's Youtube and after seeing what it did to her skin I had to have it.
I bought it while I was in Melbourne and have absolutely no regrets. The powder is silky soft and so finely milled that it never looks cakey. I have very fair skin (Nars Finland) and find that that smallest sweep of this all over is all I need. When i get carried away it can make my face look way too dark so a light hand is recommended. Nevertheless I absolutely adore this powder and the blurred and perfected look it gives to my skin.
I also recently purchased Ethereal Light as well (seeing as how Mecca has dropped its prices). This is an almost translucent powder that I use mainly for setting my concealer as it is light enough to maintain the highlighted look without making my skin look overly shimmery. It promises a 'moon lit glow' and I believe it definitely delivers. I'm so in love with these powders that i'm planning on purchasing Diffused and Luminous light as soon exams are finished
Tips: I truly believe the best way to apply these is with the hourglass ambient lighting powder brush. The brush is dense enough that it picks up the perfect amount of product and effortlessly buffs it in for a seamless finish on the skin.
After reading many, many reviews about how amazing this is, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Ambient Lighting Palette. It is one of the most expensive products I own and I was super hesitant about it, as I have dry skin and am very cautious about using a powder on my face.
The packaging of this is absolutely obscenely gorgeous. It is packaged in a kind of burned/blackened bronze compact and has a large mirror. The only thing I dislike about the packaging is that it collects fingerprints like crazy. Aside from that, it looks, and feels extremely high end.
The powder itself feels soft to the touch but isn't dusty. I like to press this all over my face to set my foundation and to add a little glow.
This powder is extremely subtle - there is no risk of looking like a glitterball when using it. When you first apply it, you may think that it hasn't done anything to your face. Step back and have a look - it adds the most natural, gorgeous glow to your skin. It really does look like you are glowing from the inside.
The first few times I used this, I had male coworkers ask me if something had changed, as my skin was glowing! For dudes to even see that my skin was glowing... I was amazed! Hahaha.
As mentioned above, I have dry skin and was concerned that this would make it look (and feel), worse. It doesn't. It is so finely milled that it doesn't make my skin look patchy.
This is a pricey product... but if you are looking for something to treat yourself then I highly recommend getting it. It really is worth every cent.
