I love Lime Crime, the packaging is beautiful and palyful and the colours are uniquie. This would be getting a 5/5 but I found that my red velvet was a diffrent formula to my wicked and pink velvet as it didnt last as long and smudged/bleed more then the others. Over all the staying power is great, theyre vegan and pretty! whats no to love PLUS theyre relativly cheap ( I paid $25 off facebook new)

I really love the velvetines tey have some awesome colours ranging from nudes to brights. It isn't drying at all for me personally and one of my favs is pink velvet. They also do last on the lips.
Tips: Avoid oily food eg. fried food as this is what kind of makes the colour come off. Also sometimes some batches or colours are more 'watery' than others but still looks great.
I love my Velvetines - I have black velvet, pansy, cashmere, wicked, red velvet and riot. I still have more colours to purchase :) I never used to like matte lipsticks until i tried these. I don't know why, but I just fell in love (with the whole limecrime brand too). These lipsticks last all day at work and I don't need to reapply and when I wear these on a night out, I DON'T have to reapply! It amazes me :) They go on really smooth and i find they dry quite quickly. The applicator is easy to use and makes it easy to trace around your lips. If you make a mistake though, be quick with cleaning it up. I made the mistake of taking my time and it ended up staining! I ending up losing the plot (which involved a lot of swearing), wiping off all my make-up, starting again AND ended up late to my Uncles wedding. Please tell me I'm not the only one that gets like this when it comes to stuffing up my make up..... The only down side (which i don't really care about) is that they can feel like your lips are quite dry. But don't wear a balm underneath these, as it just doesn't dry up and ends up rubbing off. All in all - i love limecrime and i love these lipsticks.
Tips: Definitely exfoliate your lips before you use these matte lippies and slather your lips in a moisturizing balm of some sort (trilogy everything balm is my fav) and make sure you get it all off before you apply your velvetine. I always do this the night before so my lips absorb everything.
Use a lip liner to if you want to be perfect, but you really don't need too.
So I LOVE liquid to matte lipsticks! They are my absolute fave, my make up kit has about 30+ of them. These are fantastic for people who are a little more "out there" and quite comfortable with themselves as the colours are quite bold and make a statement, but on the other hand there are a few neutral colours too which is nice. The applicator is nice I always achieve a perfect lip line without using a liner. They are super long lasting so you don't have to worry about re applying all the time! They smell amazing also. The only Problem with these is that they are quite drying! That would be the only down fall for me personally.
Tips: Would definitely use a lipscrub or lip balm before using these as tjese can be quite dry, also don't over apply product or it will crack and won't look nice!
I brought this a while ago after hearing all the hype about its longevity and its matte finish. Well personally I LOVE the matte look so I spent $25 I think and brought one. BIG mistake. 1. It felt horrible to apply and I had to apply like three coats to get a decent color coverage. 2. It stung sooo bad!! 3. Was nowhere near as long wearing as advertised, in fact it smudged and rub off fairly easily for a lip stain. 4. The matte finish was not as silly as other brands I have used in the past, and it actually became very dry and crackled after about an hour. Will not be buying any more velvetines.
Tips: Don't buy
This product I use to think was amazing u till I tried others like it that were cheeper and actually felt nicer on my lips as well. This product is average hence my scoring. I don't think this product is worth the price tag as it tends to flake off easily and doesn't stay on too long
I love my Lime Crime Velvetine Wicked. Before purchasing online, I conducted a bit of research and found that some people have problems with the product being drying. As I have dry skin/lips, as well as allergies to most lip balms, I was nervous about this. However, Wicked does not dry my lips at all. If any thing, it requires a small dab with paw paw cream every couple of hours, just to keep it fresh and moisturized. The only time I notice the drying effect is when worn for more than eight hours. After this, the lipstick does become something disgusting and begins peeling off my lips like sunburn. However, it is rare that I ever wear a lipstick for that period of time at a time, so I have no real issues with the dryness.
The only thing is the high price. I purchased Velvetine dupes off Ebay and found them just as good, if not better, for a fraction of the price and that came in twice as many shades.
I own a velvetine in the shade Suedeberry. The packaging is very pretty, with the velvetine having a red and pink floral printed lid. The velvetine smelled like vanilla when I first got it but after a couple of months it has a very unpleasant Playdough scent, which concerns me. The velvetine has a sponge applicator which applies it very neatly with no need for a lip liner. It's hard to get used to how drying it feels on my lips, but it looks good. Suedeberry is a very wearable orange, however I do find it makes my teeth look super yellow. I was gifted this product and I am glad I was as I feel the price of this product is very steep for what it is. Even though I liked the colour, I would not repurchase as I feel I could get a matte lipstick for cheaper that would provide a similar effect.
I have had 2 of these suedeberry and wicked. Both beautiful, they dont dehydrate my lips, my fav of all time is wicked. they both last ages, as in hours throughout the day, they dont feather, they dry fast , theyre opaque Luckily though many other brands are coming out with liquid lipsticks because even though this is a really great product I wont be repurchasing this or recommending it to a friend. I only have wicked left and when it runs out i will put it on my mantel as one of the greatest and best lip products i have had the pleasure of using.
Ahhhh the velvetines - I can still remember the hype around these beautiful frosted tubes of colour with the fuchsia pink lid covered in hot pink roses. I really enjoy the shades and I've worn them several times whether it's to the office or a night out. Admittedly I have the more "tame" shades (in comparison to all the other crazy shades in the range) but they're still quite bold.
Red Velvet - a gorgeous blood red
Pink Velvet - a vibrant hot pink
Suede Berry - a coral based strawberry
Wicked - a dirty sangria
There's no room for sheer application with this lot, the opacity of the colours are just incredible - a swipe or two is all you need. One of the things I love about this product is that they don't take long to set so even if I'm in a rush I can quickly put it on knowing it will stay in place.
I love that they don't bleed or feather so I can skip the lip liner if I wanted to. They have fantastic lasting power, I remember the first time I wore it to work I kept checking my mirror to see if I needed to retouch and I did - AFTER 7 hours of wear! The colour stays vibrant for those 7 hours; so it's merely just fading around the edges but nothing blatantly obvious.
This product would have received top marks if it wasn't for the drying aspect. On the first day; there's probably just a bit of dryness on the lips but nothing that a lip conditioner can't fix. However what I noticed is that with consecutive days of use it actually just gets worse despite my best efforts to keep the dryness at bay.
If I know I'm going to wear this product or any drying lip product I always prep my lips the night before by using a lip exfoliator and lip conditioner and I repeat the process after I've removed the velvetine. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely I've gifted these to friends who love it just as much as I do.
My favourite is definitely Red Velvet. Lime Crime products used to be available in NZ however that changed not too long ago and you can only source it officially from the Lime Crime website.
Tips: Exfoliate lips and use lip conditioner before and after use of velvetine.
