The first time I used it I put the normal amount I would normally use on my hair and boy I think I could have washed the whole families hair with the amount I used, it is very economical as a little goes a long way. I did find it very thick and didn't run down my face and foamed up very well. When I rinsed my hair it felt very clean, kind of like squeaky which I wasn't too keen on, felt like it stripped too much of the natural oils away. I can't say I noticed too much difference with the colour of my hair with this shampoo against the normal shampoo I use. But knowing I can buy a 'supermarket' brand that does the same thing as the salon brand shampoo is great.
Tips: Only use a very small amount as a little amount lathers up nicely.
I was very impressed with both products .The Elvive shampoo is very nourishing. as i have bleached hair, which i have now tinted slightly darker i found the shampoo very gentle on my hair ,plus i didn't loose any colour residue it didn't strip out my colour , as i wash my hair every second day the texture felt good i found the shampoo nice and thick didn't run every where and you only need to use a small amount
Tips: Don't overload your hair as the shampoo is very concentrated a little goes a long way.
I don't typically go for shampoo & conditioner that can be found in the supermaket just because I've never really come across one that I love and doesn't dry my hair out. I have very thick, naturally wavy/curly hair that has been dyed countless times and is currently purple so I really need a product that doesn't strip too much natural oil from my hair, colour and add moisture.
I have been pleasantly surprised at how soft my hair has felt using this shampoo, I don't feel at all like it has been drying to my hair and it has done a reasonable job of not stripping the colour from my hair compared to other shampoo brands I've tried. I do have to admit it has taken out more dye than what my usual shampoo & conditioner would but they are sulfate free which I feel plays a big part in that. The packaging is great, stands up well in the shower and will be easy to get all of the product out of. The scent to me is kind of florally, nothing amazing but nothing unpleasant either.
Although I don't think this will replace my current shampoo, I will be keeping a bottle on hand as a spare to travel with and for if I run out of my more expensive product.
I've used this shampoo over the last couple of weeks and not overly impressed. I already have very dry, brittle, colour damaged hair and I found after using this shampoo my hair felt very dry and coarse. Yes, using the conditioner after restored it to its "normal" condition, but the shampoo compared to other brands I've used felt more damaging and left my hair drier than other products. In saying that though, it did feel very clean, it certainly stripped out all the oils and dirt and it smells lovely. I'm not sure that it restored my colour after 28 washes, and I cannot honestly comment on this promise, as I only wash my hair 2-3 times max every week and therefore have not trialed it for long enough. Also, I did recently dye my hair my normal bright red colour, and there's been just as much red wash down the drain as there would be with other brands I've used, so not sure if this necessarily "protects" the colour as it states it does. But is on par with other brands. The packaging is nice, easy to squeeze out, easy to open and close. Some other brands make you feel like a weak old lady when you're trying to squeeze it out, but had no problems with this bottle. I believe it's cost effective, as the shampoo lathers so easily, literally a drop the size of a teaspoon does the trick and is more than enough, therefore the bottle should last a while. Unsure if I would purchase this again but it was good to trial it so I know for next time.
Tips: Just use a small amount... a little goes MILES with this shampoo!
I really like that this shampoo is formulated to protect the colour of your hair. My hair is bleached and toned with a bit of a chocolate brown shade ombre.
I haven't had any experience of damaging so far since i cut my hair so i can't really say much damage wise, but i did notice my hair colour is a lot more vibrant. Im not sure if i like that or not because i like my hair cool toned and this kinda draws it into the warm side.
Upon washing, my hair is so tangly and this doesn't seem to help with. I also noticed after shower that my head felt heavier and that my hair took so much longer than usual to dry.
I probably won't purchase when i run out..
I really liked the smell of this shampoo, and I hoped that I would like the actual product, but it doesn't blow me away.
Instead, it makes my hair frizz - which is quite weird and it doesn't really live up to it's name. My hair feels drier than usual and even with the conditioner, it has become quite unruly.
The packaging is user-friendly, you get a decent amount out of each bottle, and it feels heavenly when you wash it, but that's it.
As for the colour protection aspect of this product, I haven't really noticed a difference yet.
hi girls
so i did my test with this lovely shampoo i actually couldn't really find a fault with it apart from the fact it sort of game my hair a bit of flatness.
Packaging was great was easy to squeeze out i find some shampoo bottles make it so hard for you to actually get any shampoo out of the bottle.
SMELLT amazing fruity and yummy left a lovely smell around my room when blow drying
All round great product would love to use it again
Loved the bright red packaging and the overall look is of a product that is a premium one. But sadly that's where it all ended for me. My hair has a significant amount of gray around the temples and it is regularly coloured with blonde highlights and foils. Gray hair tends to be porous and lose colour quicker than hair that maintains its pigment so I was keen to trial this product. If anything is going to work on maintaining colour on hair like mine I thought this might. As I only wash my hair once every two or three days I don't think the trial was long enough for me to judge whether it preserved my hair colour or not. It states that 80% of colour is preserved after 28 washes and my tally was nowhere near that level. I certainly didn't notice any change or fade in my hair colour but I did notice that my hair appeared darker and duller than it normally does. It was almost as if a film had coated my hair deadening its overall look. A bit like when your hair needs washing. The product is like all shampoos with simple instructions for use and a pleasant enough fragrance that leaves hair with that lovely "just washed" smell. It did not leave my hair with the smoothness or radiance as promised on the bottle. My hair was more unruly and flyaway than normal and I felt like I had a birdsnest on my head for most of the time. The conditioner did not seem to help with this issue. I used the conditioner every second wash to see how the shampoo performed on its own and with the conditioner. There seemed to be little difference. I did not notice any particular improvement of tone in my hair but rather it felt more brittle and looked coarser than normal.
Tips: Don't use this shampoo to preserve the colour of blonded highlights or white gray hair. My experience left both of these colours in my hair dull and dark. I would suggest that those who darken their hair or have a red tone may find this product more suitable for them.
I have been using the same shampoo for years. Occasionally trying another one for a chance but always being disappointed. Not this time though. I love the smell of this shampoo and the easy way it lathers up on my hair. Easily rinsed off, my hair feels clean, silky and shiny. I love it!!! It is hard to say if my hair colour has been protected as I began trialling this mid-colour but I haven't noticed the colour deteriorating either. New colour due next week so am confident this product is the one I have been looking for :) In response to the question ' would you use it again? well I have already bought this product as it was on offer in the supermarket and even picked up a bottle for my daughter who also dyes her hair :)
Tips: Use in conjunction with the conditioner for full benefit.
