Tips: wear gloves and nothing white haha
I tried the Manic Panic in the bright pink colour. It was easy to apply but it didn't really take to my hair and what did take didn't last very long at all. It doesn't seem as 'strong' as other brands. It did make my hair look and feel a bit better.
Tips: I would suggest having hair as close to white as possible if you are going to use these colours. Make sure you keep a little product to add to your shampoo to help maintain the colour.
I think this particular dye would be good to maintain already coloured hair but not so much to get an initial colour.
I find that manic panic is good but the lasting power isn't as strong as directions which is my go-to. In saying that, manic panic has some colours that I prefer such as electric lizard which is the best yellow toned lime green I have ever used! Manic panic is good if you want the colour to fade out, but if you want long lasting bright colour you will need to do a lot of touch ups while using manic panic.
I bought a few colours from this brand (classic colour and amplified) as I was going for a rainbow effect. I already had bleached my hair to blonde and was careful about which product went where for the overall effect. I spent a long time applying the colours and waited out longer than the necessary length of time, washed my hair and um... where's my rainbow? seriously beyond upset! I had wasted a lot of time and money for a product that barely lasted one wash, and what was there washed out after only two more washes (using salon branded colour-safe shampoo).
I am mortified at the price I paid when I could have purchased a cheaper brand that I had used before and knew it lasted longer (much, much longer). I tried once again but less time spent on application with just two colours chosen... same result... washed out within a week. The amount of product I used was a lot more than I would have on the cheaper brand I normally buy.
This not lasting long might be a good thing for some but for me it was a big waste of time and money.
I brought the vampire red manic panic and to say i was disappointed would be an understatement. As told by the staff member who sold it to me and the manic panic instructions it said to be used on light blonde hair which was what i had as i was bleach blonde so was already set to go. Applied as per instructions and left on for an extra 10mins to help build a better colour, it was looking so red and exactly what i wanted; washed it out to find it had turned my hair neon pink - not what it said it would go or what i asked for; i ended up having to re-dye it with a cheap supermarket hair dye just so i didn't have to look like a walking highlighter. Other than the colour it was a good thick consistency making it easy to apply
Tips: Do extra research into what other peoples colours have turned out like so you know what your in for.
I have dark violet/brown hair with bright pink foils all through. This is done at the hair dresser and fairly pricey so I wanted to find a way to keep the quickly fading pink up to its fluro and bright potential.
I found it with Manic Panic. I got my mum to paint it onto my hair with her pastry brush (whoops) and then I left it in for hours. Not like you're supposed to but I had the same theory about longer = brighter. Eventually I washed it off outside with the hose and it looked incredible! The pink was right back to the colour it is straight from the salon!
Was very easy to apply - just make sure you do it outside and use gloves because that stains big time! Smells nice and feels good using something cruelty free!
You will need pre bleached in good condition hair to get the shocking colours. But that is much the same as any other bright colour dye.
Tips: Rinse of in cold water! Cold water keeps more of the colour in. Its a horrible experience but worth it in the long run!
Also - use dark towels!
I have been using different brands of hair stains for years but was never happy with the colour pay off or how long it lasted. Finally got around to buying Manic Panic and I love it! The colour is amazing.! It came out the same colour as it shows in the pot.
Before using this product I had dyed black hair and a pretty decent amount of dark blonde regrowth. A hairdresser lightened my hair using foils. I put the product through all of my hair and it turned out great. My foils are a bright beautiful purple and the rest of my hair - including my regrowth is a gorgeous purple tinted black.
Tips: Use gloves and Vaseline. Put Vaseline around your hair line and anywhere you tend to get dye when you do your hair yourself to reduce staining problems. If you are rinsing it out in the shower make sure to bend over so that the water doesn't run down your body otherwise you'll end up a very colourful person. If you manage to get your hands stained while dying or rinsing, spray them with hairspray and rub it in like you would when washing your hands with soap. Then wash as normal and it'll be gone! Also worked for my fingernails too :) I sleep with an old towel or pillowcase on my pillow as the colour transfers quite badly. Also have to be careful with what you wear
I used the midnight blue in my younger years and found the colour pleasant and lasted a long time. I loved that it was vegetable based and didn't damage my skin in anyway. It made my hair feel soft and supple. The smell was pleasant and the colour even better.
Tips: Make sure your hair is very blonde and even to achieve and even result, and sometimes it might not show up as vibrant on poorly lightened hair unless overlaying with a red based dye.
I have only tried this product in Fushia. I loved the colour, it was very true to the colour of the dye itself, my hair is a medium brown and this is the first vibrant hair dye I have tried that actually lasts in my hair and shows up.
It was easy to apply and smooth through my hair, although the colour does stain skin. I had bright pink hands for two days afterwards so would definitely recommend using gloves to apply. As I have very thick hair and used the whole container of dye it took a very long time to rinse out (and my shower looked like a murder scene) but as long as you leave yourself a bit of time this shouldn't be an issue.
The brightness of the colour lasted properly for about two-three weeks, before fading, but lasted for a further month as a much duller colour.
I would definitely try these dyes out again.
Tips: It will rub off onto bedding when you are sleeping, so I would recommend using a pillow case you don't mind staining if the colour doesn't come out in the washing machine. Definitely use gloves and prep the skin around your hairline.
Was quite upset at the longevity of this product! The original colour was amazing but only held for about 3 washes. I've seen it last well on friends so I would recommend but I won't be using it again.
Tips: Make sure you cover the area you are in when dying(the room) it stains really quickly !
