Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of watermelon, the fruit. It's too sweet, too watery. Luckily, the Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Conditioner is not like the fruit. The packaging is reminiscent of a cafe juice bottle, invoking healthy freshness. An opaque, white stubby, 350ml recyclable plastic bottle (50% recycled) with a green flip lid (not recyclable), and pink watermelon image. There is a lot going on on the label. Garnier statement of commitments, Vegan formula, no silicones, ingredients listing 97% natural origin formula, dermalogically tested. Stating a 'melting' texture that instantly penetrates for volume, detangling and fast rinsing, for healthy looking hair with volume. There are also warnings in regards to do not eat and to keep out of reach of young children. The Conditioner is a thick and white cream, but with a texture that feels water-rich. The watermelon scent is noticable without being overpowering, and cream absorbs easily into the hair. Side note: Since shaving my hair off in 2020 lockdown for fundraising, I took up a No-shampoo then a C0-wash regime for over 12 months to avoid silicone-laden hair products, which led to my once-volumous, curly hair being lank and oily-scalped, prone to humid fluff. This being the first conditioner I have used with a shampoo in over a year, I really noticed the difference in absorption of the conditioner on the hair shaft. As claimed, the conditioner easily rinsed having done it's job, leaving no residue. Post conditioner, hair feels healthy, not weighed down at all. Hair feels lighter and looks reminiscent of my childhood hair, my curls reignited without any tangling, and while I don't have the massive volume of pre-shave days, there is a lightness and bounce to my hair that I haven't seen in the post-shave year. I love there is no silicone, and despite the watermelon scent lingering post wash, I'm a convert.

Tips: Apply the warning to keep out of reach of children - keep this high, as it does look like a juice bottle and could be tempting to a child.
I used this conditioner along with the shampoo. It has a lovely fruity scent to it which I liked. I applied to my hair following the shampoo and left for a few minutes and then rinsed. I definitely noted my hair had more volume after using this so I would use it again.
My big tick for this product - along with the shampoo - applies! The delightful watermelon fragrance is a gorgeous surprise. It’s a great conditioner that doesn’t leave my fine hair limp and flat. Instead it is non-frizz and soft, and stays feeling wavy and full of volume al day. I like the compact recyclable bottles (good for travelling too) and the sturdy flip tops. These are good value and I will buy again.
Tips: Use in combo with the shampoo for very good results indeed.
Like it's shampoo counterpart this Garnier line has been designed to look ridiculously cute! The scent is so yummy that you just want to eat it.
Very moisturising conditioner indeed! I am still trying to learn my lesson of using less product than I normally would.
The conditioner was great on my knotty hair and I didn't need much to deal with my fine damaged hair. It's always getting tangled, so I value that a lot!
Overall, pretty happy with this product because the main thing I look for in a conditioner is its ability to detangle and without needing a lot of product.
This product promises to give your hair volume and bounce. Moisturising while not weighing your hair down. And fast. Fast because you can apply and rinse straight out. I used this on my fine hair after using the matching shampoo and followed the directions on the bottle. (Which is both recycled AND recyclable...I did like this aspect). The white lotion is of standard consistency and smells pleasantly of watermelon. However, I did not find it very moisturising. This combined with the drying effect of the shampoo, left my normally soft feeling hair, rough and straw-ish. I think the main purpose of a conditioner is to detangle and smooth hair. Unfortunately, this only ticked one of those boxes.
As I said in previous reviews, I was so happy to be selected for this trial team! I used this in conjunction with the shampoo and I'll say it again, I am certainly not a fan of the watermelon fragrance. Once I got past this issue, I really like the product. I love the packaging, its reminds me of fruit juice bottles which is a refreshing style in my shower. The bottles reminds me that we are part of 2021, we are conscious of our environment and keeping things as natural as possible - random, I know, but its just the vibe I get and im digging it! I left the conditioner on for a few mins and washed it out as normal. I did notice that my hair felt 'straw' like which was a bit worrying at the time. I went on to brush and dry and am pleased to say that this did not last! Once dried, my hair was soft, shiny and really wasn't weighed down at all! My hair stayed this way until I washed it again a couple of days later. I will certainly be using this again!
I was very excited to get a hold of this along with the shampoo. It seems to be sold out in supermarkets and the warehouse stores that I have visited recently. I think it is because it is a new flavour / scent from the Garnier hair food line and they did so well with the others. I bought this from the beauty review vault. What I have noticed with the conditioner is in comparison with the papaya one this watermelon one is thick. I was a bit put off from the papaya as it seemed like a watered down version of the hair food in the round tubs. (I have tried the round tubs of hair food in all the flavours except the watermelon) what I have noticed is the watermelon scent doesn't linger in my hair as long as the others do. As I have said with the hair food conditioners if you're new to using silicone / diamenthicone free conditioners you might feel like this doesn't smooth your hair enough and that you need alot. That is because silicone diamenthicone free conditioners are missing that silly slippery smooth soft additive in them which gives those feelings to the hair when wet. They build up in your hair long term, can dry hair out and prevent dye from good absorption into the hair. They do give an impression of healthy hair because it masks damage by disguise - putting a coating on the hair and smoothing. It's a costume though it's not actually nourishing or hydrating. Anyway I like this product and I'm going to mix it into temporary hair colour in the future and use as a mask to try make the scent linger longer. I don't think this is my favourite of them all but I'm so glad I have finally got to try it. Didn't notice extra volume though but the shampoo made my hair clean and the conditioner left my hair feeling soft and not all weighed down.
I have fine, thin, flat, smooth silky hair naturally.
Packaging - very colourful, eye catching and appealing, great that it is recyclable too. It is great that this product is vegan and has all natural ingredients.
Fragrance- I love that the smell is so refreshing, not overpowering fruity watermelon smell. However, when I have washed it off my hair, the smell became so subtle, I can barely smell any watermelon.
Texture- quite thick and because I have thin hair , I didn’t need to use much at all, a little goes a long way.
Volume -I usually leave my hair to airdry. This conditioner did not leave my hair flat, I can see that my hair has a slight bounce and volume.
Usually with conditioner, I would expect that my hair will be soft, silky, easy to comb and will not tangle easily this. My hair still had tangles after I washed this off, it wasn’t easy to just comb my hair.
Yes, it certainly gives volume , but I wanted a product which can make my hair look and feel smooth, silky and also volumised. I will not buy this at all because there are just better conditioners out there.
Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Conditioner comes in an easy-to-use compact bottle with a fun brightly designed label. It's made with 50% recycled plastic and the ingredients are of 97% Natural Origin. The conditioner smells fresh and fruity like Watermelons and leaves your hair smelling delicious. The conditioner detangles easily and rinses clean without leaving any oily residue. My hair felt incredibly soft and bouncy after using this conditioner.
Tips: You don't need a lot of conditioner but if you use too much it still rinses away cleanly.
Love the packaging and how bright it looks. The texture of the conditioner is nice, thick and milky. It smells devine and if I'm not seeing things there is a slight pinky colour to it. I love how easy it is to apply. It makes my hair feel nice and silky and gets rid of all the knots. Having this conditioner left in or rinsed out of my hair made it so much easier brushing my hair.
Tips: Ensure your hair is wet before applying. You can either apply it just to the tips of your hair or full head and can either leave it in or rinse it out for great results and easy detangling of your hair.
