Skinfood Facial Cleansing Wipes Review

Oh my god.

I bought these thinking they were going to have a lovely, mild, natural scent judging by the list of ingredients on the front of the packet.

I got home, opened the packet and was smacked in the face with the stench of pure toilet cleaner. I couldn't believe it.

If you are sensitive to scents and fragrance, steer way clear of these! I have no idea what is in them that causes this smell.

It literally smells like a mix of Lynx (cue PTSD flashbacks to high school socials) and actual toilet cleaner.

I cannot use these on my face!

The only positive thing I can say is that the wipe itself seems to be made out of a sturdy material. I hate when other wipes warp and disintegrate while you're using them.

Edit to add: after reading all the previous reviews raving about the mild, fresh scent, I thought I was losing my mind! I asked my flatmate to smell the wipes and tell me what she thought it smelled like, and she immediately said toilet cleaner. So I feel better knowing I'm probably not losing my mind! I do see that the other reviews are a couple of years older though, so perhaps they've recently reformulated?

I purchased these from the supermarket, they are a great price with a nice smell, not strong. I have sensitive skin and this has caused no burning, rashes or breakouts, this removes the day and all my makeup including eye makeup, they are my go to.

I love these wipes, very moist and effective at cleansing makeup off. A generous size, the scent is pleasant, good for sensitive skin. Made in New Zealand and Skinfood has nice natural ingredients. The only things I don't like are the pull up flap on top which tends not to stick after a while, and the environmental effect of disposable wipes.

To jump straight to the point: these do the job but don't exceed expectations.

I don't use wipes often - only on super late nights or when I am travelling. I bought these to add to my work travel bag (always prepacked and preprepared). I like the Skinfood brand as it is simple and doesn't irritate my skin, is affordable and just simply seems to do the job. They are gentle, soft and don't have any horrendous smell - leaving you feel fresh.

Now this isn't unique to these wipes, but I find they don't get everything off the skin. But they are a good 'pre-wash' before cleansing properly - especially when travelling without your normal cleanser.

Would I buy again? Sure - for the price and for travelling. Not an everyday use item for me (especially environmentally-wise), but a good travel companion that does a good enough job.

I love these facial cleaning wipes from Skinfood. First of all Skinfood is a brand I know and trust and it gets extra points for being a New Zealand natural brand. Having these facial cleansing wipes on hand is awesome for those late nights and makes taking makeup off so easy!

I struggle with finding the energy to take my makeup off on late evenings after coming home late and getting the kids sorted ect, having these on tap makes it 100 times easier for me to take my makeup off, cleanse my face and keep up with my skincare habits and routine.

Firstly, I don't actively purchase wipes, but this came in their monthly bundle so I happily reach for it during my cleansing routine.

I use wipes as a pre-cleanse, to remove makeup before using a proper cleanser.

The Skinfood wipes are gentle enough for my sensitive skin, but not super effective at removing all makeup. However, for my needs, this is fine.

I wouldn't repurchase based on the fact that I find wipes wasteful being a single-use product.

I have struggled to find cleansing wipes that actually remove my makeup. So many others just take the top layer off and even though I double cleanse my skin still feels grotty. These wipes are thick, very wet(which I love) and a decent price. I paid $7 but I’ve seen them on special for $5 quite often. They remove my mascara and my eyeshadow but I do need to use 2 wipes. I will definitely continue to use this brand and will be recommending them to my friends.

I always have a pack of skincare facial wipes in my bathroom,for those days I just want to remove my makeup and get into bed as quickly as possible.

The packaging is nice, modern and simple. Like the brand and it’s simple and natural ingredients. I r used the cleaners and moisturisers in this range and couldn’t wait to try these.

I found them really nice and gentle for my sensitive skin and they removed the makeup really well. Overall I’m impressed and found them a really good product that I will definitely recommend.
