ELF Tone Adjusting Primer

I've had this primer forever. I don't strongly dislike it, but never really find myself reaching for it - is probably time to get rid of it if I'm being honest!

My skin is quite red and this product does not cover any redness at all. It does make my skin feel super smooth and makes my pores appear smaller. However, when I use this over my whole face, or too much, it makes my skin feel quite greasy and just kind of gross. When I use this primer, I use the tiniest amount over my nose and cheek area and it does make my makeup sit nicer on my skin than it would without it. When my skin is quite dry this primer doesn't work for at all, and makes my dry patches more visible. I don't find this primer to make my makeup last any longer.

I think this is an okay primer for the price point, but wouldn't repurchase it.

Elf face primer, green

This product did not give me the effect that I wanted. It did not really help cover the redness/pink of my cheeks. I do like the formula though and it felt really nice when I put it on.

hmmmm...

Primers. I have never been a fan, of any!

I purchased this primer from iherb.com after hearing great things about e.l.f primers. I wanted the original however they were out of stock so I purchased this instead.

Lovely packaging for how cheap the product is. Frosted bottle which shows off the green tinted product, I love how this product has a pump. One pump is all you need as this product goes a long way!!

This is green tinged silicone based Primer. I do not feel the green does anything for the appearance of redness, as you rub it out the green seems to just dissipate. I really HATE the feeling of the silicone on my skin... it actually makes me cringe! It does make foundation application easier however I feel like it makes your foundation slip throughout the day and you end up looking quite shiny and patchy.

If you love Primers and Silicone based and feel they work for you and your skin/foundation then I would totally recommend giving this a go as it really is so cheap. I do not love it but will continue to try it on and off with different foundations. I don't think there would be much difference between this and the original Primer so if you are unable to get original then give this one a go.

I know what you mean..I really dislike the feeling of silicone on my skin too, it makes me cringe too! I think some people either hate it or love it!

You get what you paid for

Pretty cheap but not too nasty. It’s a good enough primer, I mean you could definitely find a better one, but maybe not for $6. So you get what you paid for.

As for the tone adjusting: it does not work. My skin is pretty evenly toned apart from some redness around my nose and mouth/chin, and a red patch on my jaw. Green is supposed to cancel out red, but all of those areas remained just as red as before, so not really impressed with those claims.

Its okay

I brought this after hearing many people rave about it, and because I do tend to have red toned skin.

The formula is very silicone feeling, but glides on nicely, and one pump does your whole face.

I found that it didn't really conceal any of my redness on my face at all, but a primer, it does make my makeup go on nicely, and last longer.

I did need to touch up during the day, but for a $6 primer it's pretty good.

Good product but deceiving bottle

I have tried this primer in the tone adjusting green colour. It comes in a plastic bottle that looks like frosted glass, with a pump to easily get the right amount of product out.

I found that the green colour didn’t do a lot to cover my redness but I still really enjoyed using it. I only need about 2 pumps to cover my entire face. The primer fills in fine lines and makes my face feel silky smooth for a flawless make-up application. I haven’t noticed a dramatic difference in how long my makeup lasts though when I’m wearing this or not.

There is one thing that really bothers me about this primer, and that is that there isn’t nearly as much product in the bottle as you think. When you open it and unscrew the lid to get the last of it out, you see that the container holding the product is tiny. It’s probably less than a quarter of the size of the actual bottle and the entire tube is a green colour, so its not actually the product you can see from the outside of the bottle.

Although I did like the feel of this primer, I won’t be repurchasing as I feel like the product is deceiving with the amount in the bottle. For the price you would pay for this primer in NZ I will probably try something else now that mine’s finished.

Nothing Special

Like other reviewers, I found the primer did not cover my redness at all but it still makes a fine primer. I haven't tried any of the others in the range.

Personally I prefer my primer to be a bit thicker and feel more silicone-y but it's fine for the price & does make for smoother makeup application. I wouldn't go out your way to get one if there is no ELF in your area. For around same price point you could get the Maybelline Babyskin primer.

Not good for redness

I got mine from iHerb for about $3.00 so I find it to be very economical which is a good thing as the packaging is a bit misleading. The pump dispenser it comes in looks to be quite big, but it reality it's not as the product is actually encased in another smaller tube inside the bottle. It's lasted me quite some time, just over a month with daily use (including my neck)

I use about 1 1/2 pumps to get the desired result.

When you pump it out it's a rather putrid green coloured primer which is supposed to combat the redness in your skin, I find this to be grossly exaggerated and it hasn't made any difference whatsoever to the redness. What I do like is the feeling and look of my skin once makeup has been applied over this, it seems to make a visible difference in the texture and pore visibility so I would use it again but not for the purposes of trying to cover redness.

Great primer - does nothing for redness

I bought this primer at the same time I bought the clear version of this. I have quite a lot of redness on and around my nose and was hoping this primer would help correct this. I find it works great as a primer (See my review for the clear version as I find it exactly the same) however personally I don't think it does anything to combat redness because this product is far too sheer to correct any red tones.

I have tried using this primer on one half of my face and the clear version on the other side of my face after using just the green one and seeing no obvious difference. With the two side by side I could still see no difference and neither could my family. Although this product is scarily green in the packaging, they weren't lying when they said it was sheer!

So basically this is a great cheap silicone based primer but it doesn't do anything to correct the redness on my face (maybe i'm just too red!). I wouldn't recommend it to someone looking to cover redness as I don't believe it works for that however I will finish the product and would use it again (if the clear version wasn't available) as a regular face primer. Hope this helps!
