I am the biggest fan of the other Loreal hair mask that comes in the caramel coloured tub, so you should have seen the look on my face when I saw that wee plastic tag with 'temporarily unavailable' placed where my beloved hair mask usually sits. Hey look on the bright side Bex it's gotta be good everyone else loves it too that's why it's 'temporarily unavailable' still what do I do? So I scan the hair care section for another favourite and wouldn't ya know it they don't stock it! So I found this and thought well why not it's probably identical to the other one its just a different coloured tub right?
So the White tub is narrow at the bottom and widens towards the lid, making the opening of the tub quite wide which is perfect for scooping out the product.
The formula of the mask is so thick and rich i instantly think this is going to work wonders for my mop, I have this thing where the thicker the mask the more moisture it will add to my hair and more repair it will do. This has a slightly fruit slightly clean fresh scent, It's nice but nothing distinctive.
So I scoop out a good sized amount maybe the size of half a tennis ball, and massage it through my mane. It glides through my hair easily and it feels great as I massage it through, I let it sit for a good 10 minutes to soak in.
When I start rinsing it out my high hopes I have for this product diminish. After its all washed out my hair feels like it has just been conditioned with an average conditioner. And once it's completely dried my hair feels dry and straw like, unlike its sister in the caramel tub. I'm so disappointed with the results I've tried it twice with the same results and I've had to add lots of oil to it too. I won't be repurchasing and next time I will patiently wait for the caramel tub to become 'available'
I made the big mistake of colour damaging my hair recently which left my hair burned, frizzy and breaking at the drop of a hat. This is when I decided drastic measurements needed to be taken so I purchased a semi-fancy brand hair mask. Enter L'oreal Paris ELVIVE Total Repair 5 Mask. I have used other products in this range before so was expecting some sort of good result.
The tub is quite a substantial amount which is good value for the price I paid. I paid $9.99 for this tub and I was quite surprised by how cheap it was considering it's a hair mask and a well known brand.
The formula is quite thick in consistency which made my heart happy. If it's thick it means to me that it has moisture galore and will penetrate my hair to lock in moisture. I wash my hair as usual and put this in my hair concentrating on the most damaged areas of my hair which is the tips.
I leave it in for a good ten minutes to let it really soak in to my hair. After I rinse it out I didn't really find it to be any different to what it was when I started. After four uses it feels slightly less rope like but not significantly better which I thought it would be.
I would expect for a well known well respected brand that it would give better results, Even after using it with their shampoo and conditioner it doesn't work that well. I am highly disappointed to be honest.
Tips: Use quite a bit of it to really get the hydration quality out of it.
