Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Review

Hi, I love Too-Faced products and while this went on great, it kept smudging throughout the day. Dam Girl is a better product, no smudges!

I have tried many mascaras, which often tend to make my eye lashes look cakey as if they have mascara piled on. However, this is the first mascara I have used that doesn't do that or crust off little pieces onto my face. It gives length, volume and deepness to the lashes which I LOVE. The only negative would be that it is not water proof so any rubbing instantly smudges it off onto the face.

To preface, I don't have a lot of natural lashes in both length and volume.

While the formula of this mascara is good and definitely gives me length and definition and lasts well, the brush is tricky if you don't have a lot initially to work with and can clump easily. For lashes like mine, a small slim brush such as Benefits They're Real is much better.

This is my go to mascara in my make up kit. I love the length and volume it gives me, as someone with very blonde and straight lashes normally it's always nice to see them with some volume. I don't find it clumpy like other reviews have mentioned. While I do have some occasional smudging I find it's only when I've got a bad hay fever day and rub my eyes. Otherwise it stays put all day long. A gentle oil based makeup remover on a cotton pad and it comes right off at the end of the day. I'm looking forward to trying the waterproof version as well to see if that improves the hay fever/eye rubbing smudge aspect but all in all I absolutely love it.

I am a devout fan of Benefit's Roller Lash and I tried Better Than Sex to see if it could do a better job. Almost! It gives great volume to my lashes but I have to really push it to get the length I would get from RL and it can be a bit clumpy if I don't really brush the lashes out. It also smudges onto my under eyes a bit by the end of the day and looks like it doesn't stay on the tips very well.

I really love this mascara! Don't let the brush scare you - it feels a bit scary getting up close with it at first as it feels like you easily end up with a mess of mascara on your brows but it really works! The curled brush allows you to coat each lash effortlessly - leaving lashes longer, thicker and with a great feathery texture. Just beautiful!

This is my fave mascara of all time. I use it on a daily basis. It makes my dark brown eyes sparkle by making my eyelashes seem fantastic! It's simple to apply, whether you use a curler or not. It doesn't even come close to the competition! I would strongly recommend everyone to give it a go!!

I LOVE mascara, bathe in it kinda love! Have tried many in my time as mascara is my everyday staple that I cannot live without!! Even in lockdown I slap some on! BUT, this mascara... it’s nice, works well but really didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. It’s not bad, but it’s not life altering either. It gives great separation and lift, tends to smudge on hot days but that’s expected for most mascaras. So yes, it’s great, but it doesn’t live up my all time favourites. Worth it for the price though. In saying all this a close friend uses this and adores it! So I may just be a mascara snob!

I was so excited to try this mascara after a couple of work colleagues recommended it me but I found that it didn't really live up to the hype.

The pros for me are that it does add volume and lengthen the lashes leaving them looking quite good when you first apply it. However, the cons really outweigh any of those pros for me. The brush is quite large, difficult to use, and it clumps easily. The mascara smudges and requires an under eye finger sweep periodically throughout the day, which is far too high maintenance for me! Plus it is super expensive compared to its equivalents. I also found removing it quite difficult with a lot of product left at the base of my lashes after washing my face (which doesn't happen with other mascaras). Wouldn't recommend.
