My hair is thick and dark so this didn't work out as I thought? I used it after lightening my hair and the red sorta turned out like an ugly orange but I tried it again and it seemed to work better! I like it but I wouldn't try again. Any suggestions please tell me! But the instructions are easy to follow and everything is nicely packaged and labelled.

This L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss hair colour is good product I would recommend to my friends. The package is elegant and eye catching with the bright pink in the middle. It contains 3 bottles of crème and 1 pair of glove. I purchased another one as I have long hair. It's easy to operate by following the instruction. The colour comes out rich and nature. My hair is shine and gloss, especially great under the hot sun. I had washed my hair twice and the colour stays. However, I would like to recommend that it contains a disposable hair cover as I have to stay in the bathroom for 20mins. A cover will make it easier for consumer.
Tips: I used a plastic hair cover to express the colouring process and stop it running over my skin
I was lucky enough to trial another ammonia free hair dye and I have to say that I'm a total convert! You don't get the horrible chemical smell, any excess dye that may have ventured its way onto your face or ears wipes off with ease and you still get the 100% coverage of a dye that does have ammonia in it!
The instruction leaflet was easy to follow and all of the bottles were clearly labeled. I LOVED the conditioner. It's got such a yummy sweet scent and you get a decent amount so you have plenty for extra washes.
What I really loved about this dye, is that it's semi-permanent which means it *should* wash out after about 20 washes. For someone who is maybe trailing new colours, this would be perfect because you get to do that without the complete commitment.
I chose the Light Brown colour in this brand because being summer, I thought it would be nice to go a little lighter than I normally would (I would usually have choc brown). Unfortunately, it's not the colour I got! I ended up with a mid to dark brown so that would be something I would be wary of in future purchases.
Overall, this dye left my hair shiny, a gorgeous colour and nice and soft! I'd definitely buy it again!
Tips: - Keep in mind that the shades may run darker than the box suggests, as I found out! - If you have longer than shoulder length hair or it's really thick, I'd be inclined to get two boxes.
This product is great if you pick the right color. I have used it previously with the iced chocolate shade and found that it gave my hair a wonderful shine and added a lovely depth of color. However, with the sample I was sent I tried the dark blonde shade. At first we had an issue with the gloves as they were far too small for my boyfriends hands, then there seemed to be absolutely no color change even though my hair isn't dark blonde to begin with. It has developed with a couple of washes but only seems to be at the roots. While I have had successful results in the past I am disappointed but will probably still use this product in future but be more careful with shade selection.
This product was great. I really like the colour, although all the dye I have in my hair from many years of dyeing has built up so my hair is quite dark now, and you can't tell the true colour of the dye properly unfortunately. I find when I dye my hair my roots take ages to develop :(
This product is very easy to use and does not smell too bad, like some dyes I have used in the past where you can't even breathe properly lol. Also I love the fact that when your rinsing the dye out it doesn't take ages to get the water to run clear, that's always a bonus ;)
So all in all a great little product and I would definitely recommend to others!!
Tips: Now we all know how horrible dye skin stains are!! So my tip is to go around your hairline with a barrier cream to help prevent staining, and always have a damp cloth on hand to wipe any areas of dye from your face asap!!
My other tip is, once you have finished washing out your hair, run as cold a water as you can handle through your hair for about a minute...Why you say? I find that doing this helps prevent dye seepage at night onto your pillow ;)
When the chance came up to review the L'Oréal casting creme gloss hair dye, I was super excited to give it a go. Being a busy mum, I never really put myself first or give myself some pampering, so it had been a couple of years since I last dyed my hair. I was well overdue for a change!
The hardest part about reviewing this product was choosing what colour to go with, there is a huge range to choose from! Should I go lighter? Or darker?.... In the end I chose to go darker and went with Iced Chocolate (sounds yummy doesn't it?)
Applying the L'Oréal casting creme gloss hair dye was fairly straight forward, just following the instructions and go. Once applied to the hair, wait for the dye to take and then wash out. Easy peasy!
I loved the results!!!!
Lovely rich dark brown with a reddy tinge, looked amazing. I was impressed!!
I've had my hair coloured for 3 weeks now and as I was my hair everyday the colour has faded. This particular dye only being semi permanent lasts for 28 washes. But I have loved the change and the colour and it's a great way of doing something different and then if you don't like it, it's going to come out within a month anyway!
But for me, I'm going to be looking for a permanent colour. I hope they make it!!!!
Tips: This colour will fade over a short period of time, it you're wanting a longer look then better to go with a permanent hair dye. Other than that, I loved it!!
I found this product quite amazing. I was concerned to begin with as there was not a chemical smell that I am used to and associate with hair colours. I put the product in and waited. When it came time to washing it out, I was not sure it had even taken (should remember that you can never tell until it is washed). The washing was easy. I didn't have a ton of colour coming out as I have in the past, so washing time seemed to be halved. Shower clean up was a breeze as the product had not gone crazy all over the place. I dried my hair, and what a nice surprise. The colour had taken so well. I didn't have any pieces that were missed, or hair dye over my ears or scalp, which meant I could rock my hair any way I wanted. I am loving having this colour in my hair. The awesome thing is that the sun really sets it off and now that we are in summer, there is a ton of sun to help my hair shine.
Tips: Go for it.
I was fortunate to get this on a Trial from the BR team. All the packaging is pretty much what you expect. The bottle for application is a good size, easy to hold & made for easy application. The first thing that hit me when I opened the colourant tube to put in the developer was the smell of Black Currant! I was not expecting it to smell like it's namesake! Very nice touch! I found the formula to be a little drippy, disappointing as it states a "non drip formula" but then again because it's a little runny, it was easy to get through my knotty tangles. I really didn't like the instructions. They were a little simple (although home colouring is pretty much all the same process) & most of the writing on the page was in Arabic or something of the like. Only a 20 min developing time which is great, I don't really want to sit for a million years waiting. The colour came of my skin easily which is great as it was very red on my skin & washed out of my basin easily too (I made a bit of a mess with the drippiness). The coverage seems to be pretty good, I can't find any greys so it did what it promised there. The end result is a little darker than I was expecting but that's pretty usual I find. It's not so much shiny but it's healthy looking. I'm not really a fan of the Casting Creme Conditioner that came with it, although a great size bottle (would get a few washes from it) it's really thick & took ages to wash out & off my body. I probably won't use this again to be honest.
I have brown hair and tried the Dark Chocolate shade and love it. My hair feels nice and soft and the colour is as it is shown on the box. I don't think it has the 'shimmering tones' as stated on the box but I'm happy with the colour.
The product has easy to read instructions, and is easily applied. Nice sturdy gloves and I like the pink touches to the bottles. My favourite thing would be the yummy smelling conditioner, and there is enough for a couple of uses. I have shoulder length hair and there was enough colourant for me but I any longer and I think I would have needed two boxes of colour.
Overall a great semi-permanent colour that I would use again.
I purchased this product with the mind of covering up a regrowth line, so that I looked nice in my Christmas-in-Thailand photos. I had a regrowth line after colouring my hair for the first time last year; I hate the look of regrowth, and in hindsight I wish I had only gone with a semi-permanent at the time. So I specifically wanted a semi-permanent this time, because I only wanted a temporary fix and to not do any further damage to my hair.
First impressions, the product is easy to use and straightforward. You put the colour into the developer, and spread through your hair. Easy, and a nice short developing time (20 min). I have long, straight, relatively fine hair; and I found one bottle was more than enough to cover everything. The smell is much more pleasant than other colours I have smelt.
Rinsing the colour out doesn't take long, and the creme conditioner that comes with it is a delight; nice fragrance, nice texture, and leaves your hair silky smooth. Enough to get through 3-4 washes as well.
The colour turned out darker than I expected, but given that it does begin to fade (and I was in the sun everyday), after a week the colour was exactly as I wanted it to be.
And a huge added bonus, now a month on (when it has mostly faded out, my hair is back to its mid-brown), and my previous regrowth line is much less noticable!! And the condition of my hair is still lovely and healthy and soft. I'm a semi permanent convert now, if you want 'the look', but not the damage or long effect of permanent, then give this product a try.
Tips: These tend to be on the darker side... I went with medium brown, and it ended up dark. If you want your hair to turn out a specific shade, choose one shade lighter in the spectrum.
