I have 5 of these velvetines in Salem, Wicked, pink velvet, red velvet and suedeberry...and need to get my hands on the newest Utopia I like these so much due to the matte finish they give and the long lasting powers. These are perfect for a night out and they stay in place, and are food/drinkproof. They do leave a stain on the lips so I usually have to makeup wipe or exfoliate to completely get rid of the colour. Not only are they a great product but the packaging is also amazing and looks great in any makeup collection.

Tips: Apply slowly with a steady hand as it can be hard to get a defined edge around the lips. It can also become quite dry and crack over the lips so I use a lip balm beforehand and this fixes the problem
I got a Velvetine in Utpoia because I liked the idea of a bold colour - I don't normally go that bright. I found application easy and the texture agreeable. It turned matte shortly after application like it was supposed to.
Staying power can vary depending on if you're eating or drinking - so I may lose colour along my inner lips but mostly it does leave a stain of colour that requires makeup remover to take off.
Tips: Don't press lips together like with lipstick. Wait for it to dry first before you add another layer or you end up pushing it around. I keep it handy in my bag for touch ups just in case.
I currently have 4 of the velvetines - Suedeberry, Pink Velvet, Wicked and Salem and I cannot wait to get my hands on Utopia and Red Velvet.
I love wearing these lipsticks to work or when I am going out somewhere where I cannot touch up my makeup. I know that whenever I wear these bad boys, they are going to look exactly the same at the end of the night as they did when I first put them on.
The velvetine that I have used most, and would have to be my favourite, quite surprisingly is Salem, which is a deep brown colour. As I am so fair, it gives me that 90s grunge vibe, without the stark harshness that black lipstick gives me.
Tips: The one thing I will say about these lip products is that they can we quite drying, so make sure your lips are well exfoliated and moisturised before applying!
I have tis in pink velvet i purchased it as i wanted something long lasting for going clubbing without having to reapply throughout the night whist drinking and I was not dissapointed. Firstly the packaging is so cute with the metalic looking lid. I dont think this is a colour i would personally wear day to day but defineatly one for those nights out. Its long lasting and doesnt come off! The formula is very drying so I have to use my lip scrub and moisturise before i apply. The finish is matte but if you prefer a glossy look you can always apply your favourite lipgoss over it. Im unsure how to discribe the smell but its defineatly not unpleasant.
Tips: Precicion is key, it takes practice so dont worry if it doesnt look perfect first time practise makes perfect.
I have the wicked lipstain and it's my go to whenever i go out. I absolutely love the vibrant colour and the smell, Oh. My. God. I wish they had that in a perfume! best applied after a nyx liplinner as it can feather out. The colour stays really well and it doesnt come off unless you want it to. I wore it to my school ball so i could still kiss my boyfriend and he didnt have a mark on him whatsoever!
Tips: Be verrrrry careful applying it!
I wanted to own a Velvetine for the longest time. I had forever lusted after Wicked! One day I was lucky enough to win it and I was over the moon! All the incredible reviews and fans of this product had my expectations high and my lips excited..
Expectation vs reality.. I was let down.
I like the packaging its gorgeous. I love the color its the most perfect rich red. I love the scent.. An almost vanilla.
The formula.. Errr.. Okay yes its opaque. The applicator.. Not a fan.. Personally I do not think its the right kind of tip for this sort of product. You are most definitely left with rich color with one application.. Its a bit messy to apply and takes a bit of getting used to due to the applicator.
Now the finish.. Yes the finish is matte.. I am a huge fan of matte but clearly not this kind. It didn't look nice up close at all.
The stayability.. Honestly.. Did I get a dud? Because this was leaving all sorts of marks on anything my lips touched and wore off pretty damn fast. I applied this a good hour and a half before going out to Dinner.. Didn't eat or drink anything in that time period and the minute I had a sip of my drink it started leaving lip marks everywhere! After finishing Dinner it was totally gone except for what looked like a lip liner only line surrounding my lips.
The second and third and fourth tries.. I tried to love this and was left with the same disappointing results.
Would I try again.. I might buy another color and hope that one doesn't fail me but at this point in time I am not impressed and do not get the fuss!
Tips: Not for me.. Or I got a dud.. Hard to decide!
Lime crime has always been on my must try list until I saw they were releasing the new shade Utopia, It is the most gorgeous pinky purple colour you will ever see. I just had to buy it, just to imagine a grown woman running out to her mail box every day for 2 weeks until the parcel arrived, I was that excited, you think about what it will be like until you actually get it in your hands and you try it for yourself.
The packaging is gorgeous, the box I have kept because it is so sparkly and fabulous and im not normally the type of person to keep any boxes of any sort! The velvetine was exactly as it sounds, velvety and smooth, the colour is pigmented and thick, it slides on your lips and the applicator is smaller than I thought it would be. Its a lot more precise to outline your lips and get all the corners, AND THE SMELL! Who knew a lip product could smell so good!
It is by far the best lip product I own of any sort, the packaging, the colour, the quality and the smell are all amazing. I have already planned to buy more.
Tips: Make sure your lips are freshly exfoliated before applying as it is quite drying after a while.
I finally purchased two Lime Crime Velvetines the other week after seeing a gorgeous girl wearing them last summer and adding it to my "to buy" list. I bought wicked and Suedeberry after red velvet was sold out worldwide. Having become so used to applying stick lipstick the applicator too a few attempts to get used to on the first wear. However, they dry beautifully and mine lasted all night and I got at least 7 compliments. Can't wait to see what my friends think of Suede Berry, hopefully I'll be a bit more used to the applicator by then. Loved the Matte look and will definitely recommend to others.
Tips: On the first few applications wipe excess off the applicator to avoid running. Make sure your lips aren't too dry to begin with, as it dries matte so can leave your lips looking shrivelled.
I love the valvetines range! I have four colours which I only wear on special occassions/nights out. The only reason I don't wear this during the day is because of how bold the colour is and seems a bit over the top for a daytime look. They really do dry matte and don't budge at all! Eating, drinking and kissing doesn't seem to affect it, it really clings to your lips! It can feel a bit drying but it's not that bad and I get used to the feeling. I love how vibrant the colours are, although that might be a bit scary for someone who isn't used to such a bold lip. The only reason I haven't given it a 5/5 for recommending it to a friend is because of how strong the colour is. Anther reason is that lot of product comes on the wand and because comes out a liquid, it can be difficult to apply at first. Sometimes I even wipe a little bit off.
Tips: Make sure your lips are completely clean, dry and well exfoliated! Start in the middle of my lips so that when I get to the outline, there isn't as much liquid and it's easier to control. Less is more! I use the Loreal Gentle Eyes + Lips makeup remover to get it off.
So i got black velvet to wear for my special birthday night. I ordered it from beautybliss and it was $34.50 including overnight shipping which was great.
It was my first ever black lippy and i wanted it for a special event so i thought i should get something of great quality. Expecting it to look fabulous and flawless throughout the night. Even through eating and drinking as i had heard about in reviews. The brand is extremely well known and reputable so i thought i couldn't go wrong.
Firstly i do love the packaging. Its very cute and eye catching. The applicator wasnt very good for the kind of formula it is. It was quiet difficult to apply and being black you cant really afford a little mistake. I practiced a few times before the big night but still found it was difficult to perfect.
The color intensity is AMAZING i was very impressed. Its extremely opaque and as black as possible. One application was enough to achieve perfect coverage. The formula is very thin and liquidy when you apply. It dries to a very very matte finish, which is what i like.
So i went out for dinner. As i was eating and drinking i started to notice it wearing away in the center of my lips. I thought that wasnt too bad and to be expected. However when i tried to re-apply over the top it felt really gross and weird. Like it was caked on and kind of crusty.
Throughout the night it got much worse. It ended up flaking everywhere the more i applied/touched up. It just would not settle on my lips properly. It looked so terrible and i was so disapointed. I ended up just accepting that it looked bad and went on with my night.
By the way i did exfoliate and my prime my lips in preparation for this. Unfortunately that didn't help.
I expected a lot more from this product considering its reputation and price! Needless to say i will not be purchasing any more velvetines. Unfortunately they are not for me
