Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3 In 1 Mask Review

When i first used this product and saw the charcoal colour, i was a bit worried that it may stain my face. This is obviously not the case. The texture isnt thick like a mask, it actually rubs onto your skin quite easily. The smell of the mask is quite refreshing. You wouldnt think there would be any smell to charcoal, but this has a nice clean refreshing smell to it. Easy to use, just squeeze and place on your face. Scrub for a few seconds, then rinse off. I have used this for the past couple weeks and my skin has felt so much healthier and softer. The scrub from the charcoal definitely gets rid of the blackheads. Whenever i use this, my skin feels cleansed and so soft. Definitely a product i will continue using.

This is a bit of a mixed review for me. And I would like to make it clear from the beginning I am reviewing on behalf of myself and my flatmate (who also tried it out).

For me personally, this mask did not agree with my skin. My skin is temperamental at best; sensitive (sometimes more so than others), it can be dry (especially in these colder months) and it often feels tight after some cleansers (which I hate). This product made my skin redder, felt dry and tight and actually made me break out in the following days. Now this isn't necessarily a bad thing as I am aware charcoal can often draw all the nasties out of the skin (so it may have just been doing that). Needless to say, this product was just not for me!

But seeing as we had a few weeks to trial it, I passed it on to my flatmate who has normal skin (lucky one). And I am happy to report she really liked it! She came rushing out of the bathroom after the first use (as a scrub) all excited about how smooth her skin felt! Even her friends thought so (because she made them feel her face as she was so excited). So for everyday, normal skin with no sensitivities, this product could be great! For anyone with sensitivities or skin on the drier side, give this one a miss.

The other I did not like, but my flatmate did not mind, was the scent. I personally found it a little too fragranced for my liking and it became quite sickly. As I said though, this is more a personal annoyance as my flatmate did not mind it at all.

Would I purchase again? Not for me, no. However, my flatmate quite liked it and might buy it again (provided it was on sale). Thus, I rate it in the middle (I can't rate it lower knowing that my skin likes to hate products).

This product is the best... did what it said it would do by clearing up the oils that my skin produced and clearing up my current family of blackheads on my chin and nose. I washed my face twice a day and have noticed a big change..my face is clearer and feels clearer.. i used it as a mask a few times but preferred it as a face wash.

First of all, this product claims to be for people with oily skin that is prone to pimples and blackheads, as it will help reduce them and prevent reoccurrence. I have oily skin that is prone to both, and I definitely found that both pimples and blackheads became much less frequent as I kept using it. It didn't do anything in terms of reducing oiliness, but it seems to be more focused on reducing breakouts.

The packaging is fairly standard, the exact same as some other Garnier scrubs and masks. You get heaps of product for the price, so it is definitely worth it.

In terms of consistency, it is quite thick and the charcoal in it makes it stain face cloths, so be careful if using one to remove it. You don't need too much product when using it as a wash or scrub, but I found I needed a little more when applying it as a mask. It also took a little longer than 5 minutes to dry so I tended to leave it on for a little longer.

The fragrance is quite strong but it's hard to describe, maybe almost a little like aftershave. I found it to be a little off-putting the first few times I used it, but I got used to it.

Overall, although it has a couple downsides, like the staining and the fragrance, I think the fact that it does what it says, and the fact you get so much product for quite a low price, it is most definitely worth it. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with oily skin that is prone to pimples and blackheads.

The first thing that struck me about the Garnier Pure Active Charcoal 3 In 1 was that it means business. The packaging with its sleek black, blue and red colouring and graphics makes it look more like a prescribed chemist product rather than one you can buy off the supermarket shelf.

I love that it is gender neutral - it is not dressed up with pink colouring and doesn't smell fruity or flowery (smells more earthy) - it's here to do the job, not just sit there looking pretty. Both men and women can feel comfortable purchasing and using it.

The product is black (from the charcoal) and the texture is quite thick and gritty, but not abrasive. You only need a small dollop to wash your face so I can see this bottle lasting a long time - great value for money. The black colouring makes it easy to see if you have washed it off your face (and got out of your nose!), or if you splashed any around the shower (so you can wipe it off - not that I found that it stains).

After using it, it left my skin feeling hydrated and clean, and surprisingly soft. Using it as a mask (once a week) is really easy to use - and also feels my skin feeling clean and soft.

And the best part about this product is it does what it says it will do - I have no blackheads since using it. Hurrah! I would definitely recommend for anyone with oily/combination skin and/or have clogged pores and blackheads.

I found the consistency of this product to be quite thick, in a good way! It provided great coverage, was easy to blend and the exfoliating beads weren’t too rough. It provided a thorough clean and I really felt When used as a face mask it didn’t entirely dry but I did like that, because it meant it was easy to remove. The product was extremely easy to use for all of its three uses; a cleanser, exfoliator and mask. The instructions on the bottle made it very clear how long to use the product for and for what results you wanted to achieve. I also didn't get that '5 o'clock shadow' which i have experienced with other charcoal face products. The fragrance was pleasant, I enjoyed that it didn’t have an overly floral scent like a lot of other products do. Another amazing positive about this product is that it is going to last me FOREVER. You need the smallest pea size amount for any of its three uses; a little goes a very long way. An extremely economical product. The price is one of the many reasons I would repurchase this product or recommend it to others. It’s very reasonably priced, plus, it really saves money given it’s a 3 in 1 and no need to purchase 3 different products. The packaging is nice and simple. The only thing that would make it a little easier to use would be a pump. When you’re all slippery in the shower trying to flip the top of bottles can sometimes be tricky, and given it’s a thick dark product, the current flip-top lid has become a little messy. However, given the consistency of the product I’m unsure whether a pump would be a possibility or not. Initially I did notice my skin began to break out when I started using this product, however after roughly a week all of my spots began to clear and has continued to stay clear with regular use as a cleanser, exfoliator and face mask, following the instructions on the bottle as to how often each should be used. My skin feels great, is very smooth and not dry at all (initially I was hesitant as I felt this could be a drying product). I usually have oily/combination skin, and I feel that if anything this product has made my skin more “normal”. My foundation applies easier and my pores and blackheads on my nose are clearly smaller. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone having skin troubles, or those who simply want a clearer canvas to apply makeup on to. This product has worked wonders for me and I intend to repurchase when I run out. I’m reluctant to use anything else after seeing how well it has cleared my skin.

This stuff is a must have for those people who don't like to clutter their space with multiple products because it does it all. Firstly I would like to rate the smell on this product, as it was definitely not what I was expecting. Actually I don't know what I was expecting but it was so lovely and fresh, almost slightly minty. It made me feel so awake and fresh and when it comes to face wash in the morning there is nothing better than that feeling. I particularly like the intensity of the scrub, because of the fine beads you can do just as it says, use it as a standard face wash which is gentle of really get stuck in with the scrubbing turning it into a good exfoliator. Lastly as a mask it's fantastic, I always enjoy the feeling of clay type masques as they make me feel like the oil is really pulling from my skin. Over all I was definitely by this again, for the low price point which folk out on 3 more products when 1 can not only do the job of 3 but excel at it!

I primarily used this product as a face wash every day in the morning. Initially I found that it tingled a bit on first application, which was a slight concern as my skin can be a bit sensitive sometimes, however that mostly went away after a few uses and I didn’t experience any irritation. While it was an effective morning cleanser, if a little drying, I found that it didn’t do an amazing job removing make-up at night.

As a scrub I found this gentle enough for every day use, and as a mask it did a reasonable job of pulling out the excess oil which was nice!

After using this every day for a couple of weeks, I noticed that my skin was a little bit less oily than usual, however I haven’t noticed any visible reduction in stubborn blackheads yet. Overall this is a nice product for reducing oil, however if you have combo skin like me, make sure to use a decent moisturiser on your drier areas when you hop out of the shower!

I am always on the lookout for a new product that will help improve my skin and I’m and all for “one product does it all” so I was super excited to try this new face wash.

I first tried this out as a mask and it worked amazingly, it made my face tingle a little and that always makes me happy as it makes me believe that the product is working. I loved the way my skin felt afterwards, smooth and clean. Black heads were slightly less noticeable. The product itself has a chemical type scent, not too strong but it is noticeable. Once applied, the mask dried up pretty quickly which is a bonus as I don’t always have time to wait for masks to dry. When washing it off, I scrubbed it into my skin using circular motions and this helped exfoliate my skin, maybe even remove more blackheads. So all in all it works as a good mask and scrub.

I like a daily face wash that can remove all my makeup and I don’t have to do double the work to take my makeup off. Whilst this face wash did remove my makeup, I found it a little harsh for every day use. The tiny sand like particles were a little rough to be using every day. I also found it difficult to remove eye makeup with this face wash as the particles would get into my eyes. Again even as a face wash, it did leave my skin smooth and clean however mentioned, it was just a bit too harsh for every day.

If you are looking for one product to use as a mask and a scrub to get rid of blackheads then I would recommend this but maybe not so much as a daily face wash.

My skin condition changes I am one of those women who if I have not been sleeping or eating well / partying / stressed you can see it on my face. Lucky for me though BR gave me the opportunity to review this product. I had actually tried it once or twice before as my younger teen age sister uses it. Apparently oil & Dirt make pores look larger but I think people just genetically have more visible or bigger pores than others. The good things about this product are: Charcoal. tthis can help sooth irratated itchy skin. This helps remove and grab out sebum/oil/impurities from the skin giving a great cleanse and mattifying result ideal for helping control black heads. It also helps to brighten Salicylic acid - this is widely used in skin care targeted at reducing acne. Natural yes natural exfoliating granules. Good for the environment & marine life. Extract of blueberries. An anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, scar reducing, anti-aging vitamin-rich berry promotes good skin cellular support structure, it neautralises free radicals, helps balance oil even out skin tone and improves skin elasticity as well as treating acne. Kaolin. A clay that exfoliates, polishes and has various properties depending on the type it is such as anti-aging oil & acne control. I called up Garnier to find out but have not heard back yet I will update when I do. These things may be a little off putting. Too much use of this product will dry out skin and or over stimulate it so more oil will be produced. The colour of the product - you would not want to get this on your clothing. Very sensitive people might react to the product and it is not ideal for dry skin. You must ensure you wash this off very well not just because of the colour but because the small exfoliating granules could become trapped in pores which could actually cause acne and blackheads. When I first used this my skin was a bit sore as I had been absent minded and put some of my shower gel on my face before I remembered I had this product to trail. Next time I had no irritation at all and it removed oil and. foundation it left skin feeling nice and soft. Ensure you moisturize after using this as it can be drying and some times you may feel you want to use a little more as this product provides quite a deep cleanse as well as exfoliation which prepares the skin to absorb your skin care products better than just using a regular cleanser. I like how this product is multipurpose so saves time space and money and I had fun giving my boyfriend a fright when using it as a mask. I would re buy this but It is not ideal to use everyday on my skin a few times a week is enough.
