SugarBaby Tan of the Hour

I was super excited to try this as I am a huge fan of the Sugar Baby bronzer, but hate that it washes off.

This tanning lotion is pretty cool, the bottle looks great (and somehow eco friendly!?!) and the lotion is a dark brown almost gel like consistency. You can definitely see where you have applied, it goes on smoothly and evenly - a little goes a long way which I realised too late! - and dries quickly. It has a nice tropical scent but you can still smell it’s a fake tan until you shower or off.

It’s effective right away and goes really dark after a few hours. I put this on at night and wasn’t sure I had applied enough and woke up to a SUPER tanned bod! It’s definitely olive toned and picks up natural pigmentation on the skin, but it did settle a bit after a gentle exfoliation the next night. Even with the back applicator, it was quite tricky to get it even as the colour develops so dark. The longevity seems good too and lasts at least three days before going patchy.

This is definitely a welcome addition to my fake tan collection as I need all the help I can get. It looks a bit overly fake given it’s only just spring and I’m super tan, but for tropical holidays or in summer will look a bit more natural.

I have to admit, as much as I was looking forward to trying this product, I was a bit nervous. I'm no stranger to fake tan; I'm almost 40, and have been fake-tanning on and off since I was 15.

But, you see, I am very pale. Like, pasty pale, get sunburnt within five minutes of being in the sun without sunscreen, use the lightest shades of foundation I can find, that level of pale. And this tan is extra dark. So I was slightly worried that it would look unnatural on me. I usually go for a gradual tan, so as not to overdo it.

I exfoliated the night before, and applied the tan in the morning, making sure to first apply body lotion to drier areas like knees, wrists, elbows, and feet. The squeezy tube makes for easy application, and it was pretty quick, taking only about five minutes. The tint helps show where it's been applied. The back applicator was also very helpful for application. Great to have this included!

I know most people don't like the typical 'fake tan' smell, but I actually like it. However, this didn't really have that typical smell. I did notice a nice scent, but it's fairly mild, and didn't linger. I found that it dried down well, and didn't feel sticky.

The tan developed over a few hours, and I'm happy to say, it looks very natural! I'm sure it could be built up to be a lot darker with another application or two, but for me, one application is just right. It doesn't look overdone at all.

I applied it on Thursday morning, it's now Monday afternoon, and it still looks really good, and not at all patchy, so it lasts well too.

It's my new favourite for this summer!

This is a fantastic product for instant bronze goddesss! I love the colour it gave and it smells great as an added bonus. Super easy to apply with the sugar baby back mitt (which I have never seen before, what a great invention). Totally recommend for a last minute tan.

SugarBaby Tan of the Hour is a really luxurious product to use! Overall it goes on easily and quickly and doesn't get patchy or weird once it starts to wear off. I do think that the formula could have been darker because I'm fairly pale and after using it, I didn't get the deep tan I was expecting, more of a bronzed glow - which is totally fine, but I was expecting it to be darker considering it says it's ultra dark. The bottle itself is a bit difficult to use because it takes a bit to squeeze it out of the small hole at the bottom, and I do worry it's going to get clogged over time. The texture of the product is amazing though! I squeezed it onto a mitt (always use a mitt with tanning products by the way!) and it was quite dark when it came out and was similar to a body lotion. Because of that, I was worried about how well it would rub in but it was fantastic! Really easy to apply and spreads very well. The scent of it was a bit weird, but it's not like other tanning products where you smell very obviously like you've tanned until you wash it off, the scent goes away pretty quick. Using this product with the SugarBaby The Back Up Deluxe Back and Body Mitt was amazing and made applying it to my back super easy. Overall, I loved the consistency and the fact that it aged well, but I would have liked a better bottle and a darker tan.

I was a bit nervous about this tan being too dark for my pale skin but it’s perfect!! The product has a smooth but almost moussey texture and a lovely subtle vanilla smell. I had tried to apply it with gloves but that went terribly so swapped out for a cloth and it went on nice and smooth. No stains on my clothes after the 10 mins waiting period and in the morning I was so impressed with my newly tanned skin. I managed to get patchiness on my feet, which was deliberate to test the product since I only wear covered shoes right now, and definitely got patches with rough hand application so a cloth is key, but my legs applied with the cloth are perfect. It went a fairly long way too. Needless to say, I will feel more comfortable getting out and about in summer without having to build up that tan first. I am very pleased with this product

A very nice and very natural looking tan. Packaging is super cute and it smells amazing and doesn’t have that stinky fake tan odour just smells like a lovely moisturiser. I was slightly worried at first as the tan itself was a very dark colour but it goes on great and develops into a really beautiful natural tan/bronzed colour. It goes on really easily (cannot recommend a sugar baby tanning mitt enough) blends out great - would recommend working rather quickly but it’s very easy to use and blend. It’s a reasonably thick consistency tan so I feel like I used a decent amount I was worried it might be streaky but it developed great and really wasn’t streaky at all even on ankles and knees. I was originally slightly confused as the packaging said it would develop within the hour but then also says it’s not developed until 2 hours but don’t wash it off for 4 hours. But you are bronzed in the first hour and it just continues to get darker. Even though it says ultra dark I am a light to medium skin tone and I slept in this and it was a beautiful natural tan in the morning when I washed it off and wasn’t too dark or orange ish. It is uncomfortably sticky for the first 10-20 minutes so definitely follow the instructions and don’t get dressed for that time - I popped on a silk dressing gown and that was fine but wouldn’t hop into bed or put jeans on until it’s dried down. The back tanning strap is absolutely fantastic also. It is the quickest and most even tan I have done on my own back and it’s so easy. I really recommend this product.

OK, I am shook! I never thought this product could be better or compare to Bondi Sands or COMPARE to Loving Tan. This tan was so easy and quick to apply (with a mitt and the back-up deluxe mitt). The tan dried insanely fast, it didn't leave my skin feeling all sticky at all. I slept in the tan so it could develop overnight and I woke up with the most beautiful bronze tan - probably a bit darker than I was expecting but that just means it will last longer, and I can confirm it has! The scent is vanilla/coconut and wasn't overpowered by the classic fake tan scent at all. I am now on day 4 and the tan is holding up very well! I am super impressed and will definitely be buying this once I run out!

I've found my holy grail tanning product in this!! I've been a foam tan girlie for the last 20 years so this was a new experience for me, I wish I had discovered this sooner. When I say this product GLIDES on, I mean it, using a mitt it is so effortless to apply, there's no streaking at all, it has a bronzer indicator so you can see where it's applied but doesn't look overly dark and patchy like foam can. It blends like butter. The colour this develops into is exquisite, it's legitimately perfect, the best tan and colour I've ever used. The colour depth is strong, it doesn't wash out in the sun like some fake tans do, it seems to penetrate the skin better. Also the wear is really good, I'm on day 6 and it is still flawless apart from where Deodorant has disturbed it. It's easy to patch up though. Also does not sit in the dry patches between fingers, Elbows etc. And lastly, it smells nice! It doesn't have that strong fake tan smell, it is mild and coconutty without the DHA smell that can be hard to disguise. I love this tan and am ordering more immediatly. I am a huge fake tanner and I'm serious when I say I will be disposing of all my other tanning products. This is the one.

I was surprised by the beautiful coconut, vanilla scent of this product, as most tans say they have a coconut scent or no bad smell, but I can always smell that tanning product smell. Not with this one though! It smells so good. It was easy to apply, though I wish I’d got a mitt instead of trying to use the back applicator for my whole body. It’s great to be able to see where I’m applying it due to the instant bronzing effect. I was worried it was going to be too dark given the way it is described on the bottle and the colour of the product before application, but if anything, it could be darker. This may be due to my hesitancy in applying it and worrying it would go too dark, so next time I will apply more and see if it’s darker. But it gave a beautiful golden, natural looking tan that has lasted several days with no flaking and no patchiness. 100% recommend, and my only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that it wasn’t as dark as it said, but that may be due to my application, and also I prefer it a bit lighter as it’s much more natural.
