I never thought I could love a brow powder, until I got my hands on this little beauty. I managed to snag this in the vault, I'd had my eye on it for a while as I'm constantly changing my hair colour and thought it would be a handy product to have in my arsenal, so I was super lucky to get this.
Packaging: Love this packaging! The palette is sleek and compact, making it great for travel. There's no extra bulk, no unnecessary frills - you get a decent sized mirror that's excellent quality, there's a good amount of space between the pans, the shades are labelled (thank you BDB!), there's a slot for the brush and the magnetic closure is strong. The cardboard is hefty, nice and thick and covered with a material that's easily cleaned. A lot of companies could take note from this packaging!
Scent: Very faint cosmetic scent but it's only noticeable if you stick your nose right up to the product.
Shades: Blonde - this is an interesting shade, it's on the cooler end of the spectrum but I feel like it has almost a hint of purple to it and just a touch of warmth. Light Brown - this is a light/medium warm toned brown with a touch of red in it. Taupe - this is the most universal of the four shades, it's a medium cool toned brown with a slight ashy-ness to it. Raven - this is, in my opinion the only let down of the palette. It's a true cool toned black. I think this shade would have been better replaced with a deep cool brown.
Product: I'll start with the wax since that's the first thing you use from the palette. It's very smooth, lightly tacky but not sticky. It doesn't feel greasy or wet and it's quite stiff in the pan. It's absolutely clear and it just melts into the skin/hairs perfectly. The powders are just as great quality. They aren't your typical coloured powder formula, they are definitely not comparable to eyeshadows. In the pan they are very stiff, there is little to no product kick up, they're not dusty in the slightest and they're incredibly smooth. I think it's for this reason that they're so good, the pigmentation is high and application is great since they're so smooth, whereas using eyeshadows for your brows can be a little difficult since the formula is often very soft, creamy and can give off a lot of dust/product kick up. On my brows this lasts all day, 6+ hours and there is no fading or smudging or melting. They stay just as crisp as when I first apply them. The double ended brush that this comes with is actually good too, the angled brush is too large for my liking to use with powder but it's great to apply the wax and the spooli is a good size to comb through the brows.
Overall: I really love this product and I can't wait to try out the Blonde shade when I return to platinum hair. The quality of this is truly exceptional and I recommend it to anyone who, like me, changes hair colour often or to makeup artists looking for a good brow palette.
I was very, very lucky to receive this in the last BR vault- thanks so much BR. I'm still a novice when it comes to brows, I always look at friends, bloggers and you tubers with envy. They have the best, most gorgeous eyebrows and then there is me with unshaped brows, ok they are groomed but shapely nope that is what they are not. So I thought this would be perfect to experiment with.
The packaging is cute it's like a cardboard palette with a magnet that closes it shut I also love that it's black, who doesn't love black? I open it up and see a decent sized mirror on the top half and then the shades, oh those pretty shades, there is two lighter shades blonde and light brown, these are very light then there is the sculpting wax then taupe and raven. Taupe is like a brown and raven is a very dark brown/black. I've been using taupe which is the perfect shade for me it's almost like the shade from the BDB universal pencil we received in a beauty box. It also has a small applicator with a spoolie at one end and an angled brush at the other end.
I start off with the spoolie and shape my brows as best I can and tame any wayward hairs. I then dip the angled brush into the wax and sculpt them, this is awesome because the wax isn't greasy or oily and the hairs stay in place. I then go lightly into 'Taupe' and start filling in the sparse areas on my brows. Two things with the powder is, it looks so dry and almost chalky in the pan but when you actually apply it, it's quite creamy and holy moly it's pigmented! It really wasn't wasn't what I was expecting but I am truly in love with it.
I have even been a bit more bold and gone for a bolder brow look, which yes it looked amazing but I don't feel overly confident going to town with it on, but hey gotta start sometime right?
Overall this has to be hands down the best brow product I have used and it only takes me a few minutes to create nice looking brows. Would I repurchase? Yip in a heartbeat, it's totally worth every penny.
