Bobby Spinners

These are such a great Idea! They actually have more hold than your average bobby pins. I never used to wear my hair in a bun as it never used to have any hold. Bobby pins and hair spray failed. I was looking forward to trying these. They are basically self explanatory. They spiral into your bin instead of placing them in straight like a bobby pin. I now wear buns more often and I have never had one of these Bobby Spinners let me down yet!

Amazing strength

I received these in my March BRBB and when I first saw them I had absolutely no idea what the heck they were! Obviously by the packaging they were hair thingys, but for what?!

So after reading the back, doing a bit of googling I figured out how to try them. Essentially they're spiral bobby pins; they come in a pack of 3, they're incredibly strong (you can't bend them), and you use them for up-dos by spinning them into your hair.

My first attempt was not entirely successful, but after trying again I managed a gorgeous bun with little effort. I have a LOT of hair, and it's quite long so I was really pleased to see that the 3 pins held it up all day without any problems.

Definitely something I will use again and again, although at $5 a 3 pack, I hope I don't lose them at the same rate I lose bobby pins, so it's something I'll keep an eye out and purchase when on sale.

Tips: Don't try to pull the spinners out, you have to spin them in the opposite direction to remove them - just like a screw

Great if you have a lot of hair

Bobby pins are necessity to me, any up-do requires them so this new and improved innovative design caught my interest.

These spinner pins function the same as regular bobby pins but they're much sturdier, they aren't flimsy and bendable like regular ones can be, in fact they are very strong you can't bend them out of shape if you try.

To put these in your hair you simply screw them in and screw them out to remove, they don't catch and tangle my hair as I thought they might. They hold a lot more hair than the average bobby pin, you need to get a good chunk of hair through the middle of the pin to keep it in place otherwise they fall out. These pins have about a 1cm diametre of space so if you have long and/or thick hair they could be very helpful, whereas if you have fine and/or very short hair they may not be much use to you.

The thing that I don't like about these is that the enamel coating eventually flakes and scratches off, revealing the silver tone metal underneath. I generally chuck my bobby pins when they get to that stage, it's not a big deal when you can buy a mega pack of them for $5. These on the other hand, at $5 for 3 of them, I feel a bit reluctant to throw them out.

While I enjoyed trying these spinner pins I probably won't buy any more unless I saw them for about $2, in which case I absolutely would. They're handy to have when your up-do requires some solid support, but for an item that becomes expendable because of the peeling enamel coating, I think i'll stick to the regular bobby pin value packs.

Perfect bun holders

I really like these. I usually wear my hair in a ponytail, and don't bother with anything fancy. Occasionally I like to wear a bun, but it's often difficult since I have to use a million bobby pins and even then it still doesn't look right.

These spinners make life (and hairstyles) easier. I simply put my hair up and spin the three pins through the bun. It holds perfectly and for a very long time. I find these really easy to use, to get in and out of my hair, and they make it simple to do my hair. They won't give you the perfect immaculate bun, as there are always hair stragglers, but they certainly make it a lot easier!

Wouldn't have bought myself, but brilliant.

When I saw these in the BRBB I didn't quite know what to think. I have long-ish blonde (coloured) thin hair, and I don't get particularly creative with my looks. It is either a ponytail or down and straight. On the odd special occasion it gets curled but that is about it. So seeing these spirally 'spinners' scared me to start out with... what sort of knots will I get my hair into with these!

The spinners themselves are just metal spirals. They come in different colours to match your hair colour, mine being blonde. My favourite thing is that although they are not completely solid you don't get that problem of them opening out like you do with bobby pins.

I have found these great for putting my hair up in a bun or in a french twist. Just turn them clockwise and they slip in. I like that they don't make my hair feel really tight against my scalp when wearing an up-do. These keep my hair in place all day and come out of my hair without creating any knots. My only fear with these is losing them! I hope they don't disappear as easily as bobby pins do.

You spin me right round baby...

I still, cannot for the life of me, get these things to work. I've tried every angle possible and in the end I just get so angry with them I almost pull my hair out in an attempt to get them out.

I have tried using one, I have tried using all three spinners, but they just turn me into a spinner and I can't use them. I can get a very, very loose messy bun, but I like my buns a bit tight (hahaha), My hair still falls out, the spinners don't stay in place and I just get frustrated.

I think they're a cool idea in theory but really, just not for me. I'll stick to my trusty hair ties and regular bobby pins.

Maree and Julieal - I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I certainly feel a bit stupid for not being able to work them when everyone else is having great success!

"Tight buns" lol! Yeah I'm the same, I still haven't been able to make these work for me. I'm sticking with bobby pins, that is, when/if I can find them.

Oh dear me

I received these in the March Beauty Box. I really could not figure out what to do with them and I was worried I would end up with them stuck fast in my hair, or worse, a serious injury!

I do have hair slighty longer than shoulder length, and it's always tied up and clipped back, so I would have used them if I could have worked out how to.

In theory they sound like a good idea, but in reality? not for me!

These intrigue me but I still can't figure out in my head how they work! I haven't bought any to try as I think it would be a waste if I couldn't use them.

Perfect Bun

The bobby spinners came in the March Beauty Box. It was nice seeing something in the box for hair. When I first saw it I was worried I wouldn't know what to do. I turned the packet around and on the back it had a guide on how to use them. Thank goodness for that.

These Bobby Spinners come in a Three pack. They were securely placed in the packet the came in. They feel like metal Springs. Their spiralled metal springs to secure and bind the hair.

On application of this bobby spinner, I grabbed my hair wrapped it into a bun then inserted the spinner in the middle of my hair and screwed it in. It was quite easy to do this. I found my hair had tension and felt secure and tight. I found it easy to unravel my hair when I was finished using it.

My results was nice tight secure bun. It did need a hair band to give it extra support. I wasn't able to use it solely on its own. I did enjoy using this product.

Works for me!

I should preface this review by saying that I have very thick, long hair. Usually that means 20+ regular bobby pins to achieve any sort of up-do, but after picking these spinners up from the vault my life has changed for the better! They look super complicated and a little dangerous, but for most situations I prefer them to regular bobby pins. I can keep my hair up in a bun with only one hair tie and one spinner, which means no hunting through my hair at the end of the night trying to find stray bobby pins to remove. For smaller sections I still use regular bobby pins, but only one or two. They also don't slip out of place once they're screwed in, and are surprisingly easy to use. I've never needed more than the three that come in a pack of these, and they're only a couple of dollars, so definitely worth a try in my opinion.

Finally a Bobby I can use!

My daughter & I have a lot of hair! When I got a set of these in my BRBB, I was hoping this could be the greatest thing for us. but first - how does one use these?? The instructions on the back werent too clear, so off to youtube I went & within minutes I was attempting to get them to stay in my hair. turning them clockwise to get them in & anticlockwise to get them out. it wasnt quite happening for me, but when I tried a half hair bun I had more success. Putting them into my daughter hair, was easy as pie! She has to have a very neat bun every week & low enough for her to wear a hat. 3 of these spinners inserted like a star & we are winning. I do put a bun net over the top, but seriously the easiest & quickest way yet. Also, these spinners are seriously strong, the metal hasn't distorted, although a little of the colour has worn off from where they cross each other. Colour wise - it doesnt really matter, they disappear into the hair & hide very effectively. I need to play some more with these for my hair.

Edit: the colour is coming off these more than I would like, but soon they will be silver, which will be ok.

Tips: To get them out, unscrew them anti clockwise. Insert them so they cross, like an X if using two, or a star if using 3.
