Who doesn't love the feeling of soft hydrated skin? This is a great all-round family soap. I am personally not fan of solid bar soaps and prefer liquid one but this keeps the husbands skin from being too dry, and is great on the kids as well. It acts as a regular soap should... lathers but doesn't over dry, leaves it feeling balanced and not greasy.
Occasionally we shift away from this brand only to come back to it... and now I buy the liquid version for in the shower as well.
I don't usually use bar soaps as I prefer liquid soap as I find they dry your skin out. But this wasn't the case with this dove bar soap. I found this soap moisturising and it doesn't dry your skin out. This soap is very delicate and gentle on your skin.
When lathered, the soap has a creamy and foamy texture that feels very soft against your skin. It cleans your skin well and removes all the dirt and bacteria for a fresh feeling. It doesn't strip the natural oil away from your skin like other bar soaps do. The smell of this soap reminds me of body lotion. It has a subtle fresh and delicate smell
This bar soap has a very simple look. The bar is a pure white oval shape with the word dove imprinted in the top. The bar is easy to hold and use while you are in the shower. I have small hands, so sometimes I find the bigger bars harder to hold and they tend to slip out of my hands in the shower.
Overall, I like the moisturising properties of this soap, and for this reason I would purchase this soap again.
The fresh, clean linen smell of Dove Beauty Bar unfortunately reminds me of elderly people, as both my gran and nana use to use it and my hubby's grandparents still do.
The creamy, rich lather leaves my skin feeling clean but unfortunately the distinctive scent has put me off. I just can't get over the "old person" association that my brain seems to have with the scent of this "original" Dove Beauty Bar and although it claims to contain one quarter moisturing lotion, I find it to be quite drying on my face, if I happen to run out of cleanser (it does remove make-up wonderfully though) but it is definitely gentler on my skin than normal soap bars.
Would I recommend or repurchase? Probably not the "original" Dove Beauty Bar because of the scent association that I have. The "extra sensitive" version of this is apparently fragrance-free and the "fresh touch" has cucumber and green tea extracts, so I might give one of those variants a try next.
Tips: Moisturise after using. The 1/4 moisturising lotion claim is not enough to leave skin feeling hydrated.
I decided after the firsttime I had used this soap that this was the soap for me. It moisturisers and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. Beats the competitors easily I feel.
Tips: Use all the time
This soap is a notch above the other ones out there as it has a very fresh scent and feels very moisturizing when applying. Often soaps strip the oils from your skin but I found the Dove bar retained some of the suppleness of my natural skin. My skin is naturally dry and some soaps irritate my hands - especially in the winter whereas the Dove bar was a refreshing change.
Really good for dry skin, smells nice too a bit like cocoa butter, it is not quite like soap- it doesn’t create heaps of bubbles like a normal soap would
As they advertise apparently this is not a soap so it's super creamy and lovely on the skin. I still find it gets a bit messy near the end of the bar. It does smell really good and not something that you seem to get too tired of. It feels really good and my skin doesn't seem to get too dried out. I like it but and I also like that there aren't plastics involved in this which is definitely something that I am thinking about more with trying to reduce plastics. I will probably try to use this again.
Leaves you skin feeling moisturized yet still a little dryness afterwards but if you moisturize this isnt a problem has a fantastic smell and lathers up really nicely soft and gentle can get a little slippery to hold on too but I would for sure go for this before any bar of soap
Tips: Maybe get a net soap bag to pop it into
While taking stock of my beauty cupboard (one of my favourite hobbies), I found a mini box of this soap, which I think was a supermarket freebie during a Beauty Week. I was almost out of liquid hand soap so have been using this instead.
As a hand soap, it works really well. It lathers up quickly and cleans my hands well. I find it slightly drying, but that may be due to the change in seasons and my hands being predisposed to dryness anyway. The mild scent and 1/4 moisturiser is great for dry and reactive skins.
I have not used this on my body or face as I prefer the portability of liquid products for these. I would consider repurchasing if it was available in a liquid, as I find it tiresome to lather the soap and once you get close to the end the little soap slither is hard to work with.
A good basic soap but I prefer liquid hand soap over bars.
