For the perfect Golden Glow

I have been thinking about reviewing this product for over 6 months, but I keep putting it off. Not because it’s a bad product, or because I don’t know what to write about, but I was just procrastinating and biding my time until I could make this product my 400th review. (Clearly I spend a lot of time of BR).

Becca Highlighter in Opal

This highlight has hype around it that other products just don’t have, especially since highlighting and strobing seems to be the best thing since sliced bread. Honestly, even I brought this product because of the huge hype around it, if so many people loved, there had to be a reason why right?

This highlighter comes in a round compact with a metal looking plate on the lid and a slightly rubberised base. The compact opens up to reveal a great mirror and a beautiful pressed powder which has a gold sheen to it. Drool Upon swatching this highlight, I realised why this product has hype to it. Not only is the product pigmented, silky smooth, buttery and finely milled, it’s also a drop dead beautiful colour. I’m talking a stunning gold that’s not too intense metallic but beautiful, warm, and just stunning.

I love wearing this on the high points on my cheekbones, and it’s so pigmented that a little bit goes a long way. Not only that, but because it is pigmented it looks stunning on darker skin tones with the gold tones really complimenting my own skin tone.

I really like using this product. I find a little goes a long way, it wears really well, and it doesn’t emphasise my pores. I will say when I try built this product up; it can ‘sit’ on my skin in a weird way especially if I am using a matte foundation. I’m not sure why this is but i just opt for a dewy foundation instead and the problem seems to go away.

This highlighter is stunning, and it’s a must have for any makeup user. You won’t regret this purchase.

Oh thats a hard one, I actually love both colours! Pearl is more basic though and is a colour a lot of other brands seem to offer similar options (IMO) where as Opal is a bit more unique. If you were near me you'd be welcome to come swatch and play

Congratulations on making this your 400th review - epic!!! I just read your fantastic review on your blog for all the Becca highlighters (high five). I've always wanted to try Opal or Pearl but only want to purchase 1 - your thoughts? Opal maybe?

Moonstone - the perfect highlighter!

In my opinion, after using quite a few highlighters I can say at this moment in time this is by far the best I have or have owned.

Pretty strong statement you probably agree but if like me you wear makeup as an experience not just to cover your face up, then you will probably agree with me as this highlighter just gives you a luxurious feeling from the moment you open the compact case.

The packaging of the Becca powder is pretty! a round compact with a silver metal effect relief, the clasp snaps shut to keep the unit air tight and secure. Inside there is a mirror and the shimmering powder gleaming up at you like liquid gold poured into the bottom of the pan. Up close you can see tiny micro-glitter particles that help you get that high beam effect once applied to your face, but it isn't over the top glitter that makes you look like you have been smacked in the face by disco, no! this is a subtle glow and reflective effect.

I apply by using a fluffy blush brush and swirling it into the powder then onto the face in an upward sweep to get that strobe effect that is so desirable right now, using a more refined duo fibre blending brush I also apply it to the tip of my nose, under my lips, sides of my nose and middle of my forehead as it is versatile to use all over your face if you go lightly, but back up and put a second coat on and this makes your face beam bright enough to be seen from space!

This is the luxury item that has made my other highlighters come a poor second too

Becca Shimmering Pressed Powder

I was quite new to highlighting before I received a sample size of one of these beauties. Since then, I have never looked back, highlighting is a regular part of my make up routine.

This highlighter comes in a round brown compact with a mirror. It is the easiest thing to apply, honestly! Just a swipe with your favourite brush and a light touch onto your face to highlight your cheeks, and down the middle of your face, down to your chin.

This highlight powder stays in place and lasts all day, really, all day.

I now own a full sized product and it will last for an age!

Tips: Try a sample at your becca supplier, it will not dissapoint.

Wow

This is by far the best highlighter i've used. I've tried the 'poured' version (cream) as well but prefer the powders. They look glowy not sparkly. The shimmers are so fine that it doesn't look metalic on my skin but rather like dewy. Plus there's so much product that they will last for ages.

Becca Shimmering Highlighter 4 Eyes + Cupid's Bow

I paid pretty pennies for a set that had deluxe minis of the pressed shimmering powder and the liquid highlighter in the shade Opal. Opal is described as a neutral white gold with soft pink undertones that's universally flattering, it looks like has slight peach undertone. The mini has 2.40g of product and a small mirror inside and the clasp on the small compact is good. There's no chance it would open your makeup bag. The pan size can fit my Real Techniques setting brush, fan brush and cheek hightlighting brush so it's a good size. Now while everyone online went into this major highlighting craze and went gaga trying to collect every highlighter that would make their cheeks shimmer from a mile away, I didn't jump on the bandwagon. But I wanted to try it out and so I just wanted a small amount which is plenty for the amount of use it gets since I'm more into a glow rather than a shimmer. So I do go for a more subtle highlight usually, but there is a couple places where I prefer to use a shimmery highlight to a more glowy one and that's the inner corners of my eyes and cupid's bow. If I'm using a glowy highlighter on the inner corners of my eyes then I have to really build it up and it doesn't show much, whereas with this I can just apply a bit and my eyes look much more open. Sme with the cupid's bow, it doesn't show much with other more subtle highlighters but add a tiny bit of this and my cupid's bow stands out a bit more and makes my lips look more full, well my upper one that is. I'm into using matte eyeshadow but to make my monolids look a bit bigger and less like monolids I put a shimmery, metallic, or this highlighter in the center of my eyelid to make it pop a tad bit. I have used this on my cheeks and it doesn't look bad but it's just not my style to wear shimmer there especially during the day. This mini will last me a long time and when I do years from now hit pan I would consider repurchasing.

Tips: Excellent highlighter for those wanting more shimmer and less glow, but not chunks of glitter. Can be also used as an eyeshadow. I like this best for highlighting the inner corners of my eyes and my cupid's bow and use a more glowy highlighter on the larger areas of my face.

Got your sunglasses ready?

I was totally enabled into getting this by chikoboo. She is so bad for my bank account. Anyway I was asked what kind of a glow I wanted. I went for sunglasses. I didn't really know what was turning up so it was exciting!

This industrial looking compact, with mirror inside and this pretty coloured pressed powder is what turned up. I got the Jaclyn Hill colab champagne pop. On my it's sort of a gold colour. It gives my skin a gorgeous glow that looks dewy in photos. I've been playing with brushes and ways of putting it on. The best way for me is a blush brush swiped once, then very lightly swipe over my cheek bone and temples. It's easy to build up.

I find I reach for this over my hourglass one! Shock horror I know but it's true!

Highlight LOVE

I bought this after seeing many great reviews and comments on the forums from some of the regular BR girls about this highlighter. For some reason at the moment I'm a sucker for a new highlighter!

This comes in a cute little round compact wit a silver top with the BECCA written around the outside. There is a mirror on the inside of the compact.

From the minute I opened this compact I knew I would be in love !. I got this in the shade Moonstone - its a beautiful light golden champagne type colour with serious illuminating flecks but its the fairest of all the shades and has quite a cool tone to it.

This is one serious highlighter!

I applied this using my real techniques contour brush I only swiped once an applied to the tops of my cheeks cupids bow and under my brow line.

It has a super soft buttery texture, the brush picks the product up easily, not a lot of fallout and its super super duper pigmented.

This is really buildable but for me personally I only needed the one swipe. It was a beautiful highlight , packed a real punch it is definitely more dramatic than my other highlighters.

It made me look absolutely glowing I am totally in love with this product and really want to try Champagne Pop next

One of the best things I've acquired this year!

I was in the insanely fortunate position during my time as a BR superhero to be given the opportunity to mystery shop Sephora Sydney with the objective of finding an amazing highlighter. This is it! I had actually not heard of Becca before my mission and now I wouldn't be without this. BR - THANK YOU s much for giving me such a cool mission to complete!

The Becca Shimmering Pressed Powder (ie highlighter) comes in a simple box, which I promptly threw away (if I start hoarding boxes I'll need a room just for those). The compact is almost industrial looking - an intriguing contrast to the ultra pretty girly product within. It's a brown circular compact with a brushed metal insert simply reading 'Becca'. It opens on a (sightly flimsy) hinge to reveal a good sized mirror and the circe of pressed powder. I have this product in 'Moonstone' - a glorious golden champagne shimmer.

This is amazing. The merest touch of a brush to this, then to your face, produces subtle yet noticeable shimmery highlight points that reflect light and play up the angles and contours of your face. It plays with light without going to the awkward glimmery glittery places cheaper ones do.

This is such a sheer, lightweight powder that the tiniest bit has huge impact - so go easy. On the advice of the Sephora makeup girl I actually bought a fluffy eyeshadow brush to use for this and it works well. i apply a little down my nose, under my brow arches, and buff it onto cheekbones and temples lightly, and that's enough.

Used this way this should easily last the 24 months until it expires. I also got Too Faced Candlelight Glow but I just prefer this on so many levels. It almost makes me look radiantly lit from within. I'm obsessed, it's awesome, and again I have to thank BR for this one! The colour is that of a nice, light, dry champagne, and applying this to my face always makes me smile. Sure, it's expensive, but who can put a price on a product guaranteed to make you look better AND make you smile?

Tips: Buy all the things! Or at least one of these :) Sephora Aus now ship to NZ - I got this in Sephora Sydney.

In my top favourite highlighters!

There's literally only 1 other highlighter (by the balm) that I prefer to these. I'm a highlighter fanatic and these Becca highlighters are freaking INCREDIBLE. I have Moonstone and Champagne Pop. Moonstone is a beautiful yellow-vanilla, perfect for pale skin. Champagne Pop was created by youtuber Jaclyn Hill, it's a gorgeous rose-gold-champagne colour. These powders are incredibly soft, I adore them. They go on the skin like a dream, no fall out, and blend in like butter. They don't look powdery on the skin either. They're so soft, just be careful not to drop them! They could shatter.

Tips: To intensify (as if they need it!), spray with Mac Fix+ after application.

Beautiful but lacking luminosity: Rose Gold

My review and rating is purely based on Rose Gold - it doesn't by any means apply to the other beautiful colours in this range.

I’ve been using Becca Rose Gold (permanent) for the past 2 years and more recently Blushed Copper (Limited Edition) for the past month. It looks absolutely stunning in the compact but I was unexpectedly let down by the fact that it’s lacking luminosity which I feel any good highlighter should have. I have to use Rose Gold in conjunction with another highlighter that gives me the ‘dream highlight’ I’m after for the day / night. If you like sheen with fine shimmer then this could work really well for you but I’m sure we could all pick up one that is more affordable if that’s what we’re after.

It comes in a sturdy rubber compact, a silver metal lid with BECCA embossed on it and a good quality mirror. Note if you purchase a limited edition shade (with the exception of Champagne Gold) that the lid is the same but the rest of the compact is mirrored plastic and the pressed powder has raised triangular patterns – seriously it’s royalty! Rose Gold used to be limited edition but has since become part of the permanent range and still has the raised patterns which will disappear over time with use; even after 2 years I can still make them out.

In the compact, the pressed powder looks beautiful under any lighting; it’s incredibly pigmented and soft when swatched. However upon application you will notice that there is very little colour left behind on your skin because it’s so soft and blendable that the colour just disappears – I’ve always wondered if that’s how it’s suppose to be or whether it’s just my dark skintone. I do feel that those with a lighter complexion will be lucky enough to see more warmth and added colour with this highlighter. On me, it’s a glowing natural sheen with super fine shimmer - smaller than specks – what do you even call that – fairy dust!? The shimmer transfers quite easily so it’s a good incentive not to touch your face because you’ll be sporting sparkly fine shimmers all day. Lasting power is average even with a primer and another highlighter over the top of it; I can get a maximum of 4 hours.

Would I recommend this highlighter? No. However I would recommend looking at the other shades they have available which may work better with your skintone. In my case I would possibly look towards Opal or Moonstone based on what I have seen online.

Tips: If you’re a chocolate skinned beauty; I’d highly recommend using Rose Gold with another highlighter to give it luminosity – I use The Balm Mary Lou Manizer or MAC Soft and Gentle.
