Sometimes I think I expect too much out of cosmetics. I read the reviews and purchased this thinking I had found something to stop my makeup wearing off after 8 hours but I didn't.
I honestly think this product is not suited to those of us with slightly oily skin as I am having limited success - it seems to work on the colder days we are having now, but I purchased at the end of summer, hoping it would eliminate that shine you get at the end of the day and the patches that wear off around your chin and its just not happening. Come 2 O'Clock and my makeup just looks shiny.
Good points, its cheap as chips on iHerb and applies easily and doesn't smell bad at all. You can also see at a glance how much is left in the bottle.
Tips: I would consider using this if you don't have very oily skin, it's not a bad product, just not suited for my skin type. Also don't apply once you've put your mascara on as it will make it run!
I really love this. It's such a great, affordable product, it smells great and it helps my makeup last all day. I use this pretty much every day after I've applied my makeup and also during the day when I feel like refreshing.
Tips: Spray with the bottle a decent length from your face. Quite a lot comes out with one spray so you don't want to get your face too wet after just doing your makeup.
I only use this for times I really want my makeup to last but I do believe it makes a difference.
I like to spritz on after applying powder to set my foundation and remove any excess powder. Sometimes I will spritz on mid day just to refresh my skin.
Packaging is nice and simple, I really like the aloe vera scent!
Tips: Apply before mascara as it can cause mascara to transfer onto your under eyes!
I am in love with elf and think majority of their products are fab and at a great price too. This spray is extremely refreshing- with vitamins and aloe as well . Fab for on a hot day or on a flight when you need to refresh . I do think it helps set your makeup as well- after a few seconds of it sinking in it looks really good and helps it stay put :)
I purchased this as I had never actually used setting spray for finishing my make up before, seeing it was such an affordable price gave it ago.
Giving the bottle a shake I spritzed on a couple over my finished face, letting it dry I braved the mirror to see what the difference was, I noticed that it made my face look matte, hiding my usual shiny spot on my forehead but it also hydrated my makeup surprising the foundation areas that go a bit flaky cue to dry skin actually got tamed flat and smotthed down. It made my skin look nicde and matte all day and not look dull.
The packaging is to be expected from this value of product, plastic but effective for its purpose, it sprays easy and tbe lid stays on which is a bonus.
This product is designed to set your makeup so it stays on your face longer. I'm not sure if this really makes any difference, not a major one anyway. It is super refreshing when you put in on, but don't spray it too close to your face because it has quite a powerful spray to it. The biggest mistake I made with this was putting in on after my mascara was applied, my mascara ended up on my checks and the spray kind of set it on and I had to take a layer of foundation off to get the mascara off my cheeks (fail!). I don't really see the benefits of this product, my foundation stays on just as well without it.
Prior to this I had never used a makeup setting spray. When ELF had a sale, I got this directly from their website.
This comes in a small bottle that easily fits in your hand. I like that although the plastic is tinted, you can see how much product you have left.
ELF say that this has natural ingredients in it such as green tea, cucumber, aloe vera and vitamins A, C and E. When this is sprayed it feels really cooling and refreshing on your skin, so I use this as a refreshing spray when it is hot as well.
The pump is a regular spray nozzle and it doesn't spray a super fine mist. That is my only gripe with this. However, I find that if I hold this about 30cms away from my face then it dispenses the product just fine.
I use this every time I wear makeup and I spray it on my face after applying it. It really does prolong the wear I get from my makeup, as well as hydrating my skin. Even when dry, this doesn't make your skin feel sticky or dry whatsoever.
Luckily I purchased 2 bottles of this, so I am not in danger of running out any time soon. However, when I next buy from ELF or iherb, I will definitely be repurchasing this. I highly recommend it.
Tips: Buy this from either ELF's website, or iherb as it is only US $3 on there :)
I LOVE this product! I was initially a little skeptical about makeup setting sprays as the only one I had previously tried was the Australis one which I did not rate at all. However after asking on Beauty Review forums for recommendations to help stop my makeup from transferring so much onto my poor boyfriend's shirts, this was recommended to me and I decided to take the plunge!
It comes in a small plastic spray bottle. I picked mine up from K-Mart for $10 but you can also get them a lot cheaper online. I really do like the packaging of this, the transparent plastic allows you to see how much product remains which I like in a container as I hate when you run out of something by suprise. I actually found that the nozzle on mine was pretty good, delivering a fine, even amount of spray.
I use this every day to set my makeup, applying it after I have applied all my 'face' makeup e.g. bb cream, foundation, powder, bronzer, blusher. I tend to spray it with the bottle about elbows-length from my face four times - on my forehead, cheeks and chin, to ensure I get good coverage across my face.
It feels very cool and refreshing on the skin and only has a light scent to it. Initially it looks like you have a fine mist of water on your skin which is great for refreshing the skin but it did make me worry that it would mess up my makeup like standing in the rain. Instead the mist absorbs really quickly leaving you with a natural finish so you can't even tell at a glance that you have applied it, but boy does it work well!
After using this my makeup really does last ALL DAY! This is from 6am when I apply it, to 6pm when I leave on days I do overtime. After 12 hours all it really needs is a quick powder touch-up and you're good to go. I initially purchased this to stop makeup transferring, and while I found this is still possible, it is a LOT less than what used to transfer without using Mist and Set. I work in an operating theatre so often have to wear a mask which would be absolutely covered in makeup after removing it, now there is only ever a small amount which is pretty impressive to me.
I have been using this religiously now for over a month ago and it's about a third used. I use it every day so I would say using how I do you could expect to get a good 3-4 months use from one bottle, which is incredibly good value considering the small price tag.
I will definately be repurchasing this (next time online!) and I recommend trying it to anyone after a great finishing spray for a bargain. Buy it now!!
Tips: Spray it at elbow-length from your face to avoid either too fine a mist or getting too large droplets on your skin.
My first setting spray I ever used and still my favourite.
The product size is 60ml which is really not a lot if you using a setting spray everyday. For me, a setting spray is a must for my make-up and I use 3-4 squirts of this twice a day. The bottle is small, but if you compare the price, you are getting a fair amount. It's cheap. I purchase it off iherb for about $5NZD depending on the conversion. I know Kmart sells it but have yet to find a bottle in a Kmart store in both Dunedin and Auckland.
I don't recommend it if you have a shiny face, I have a shiny face in summer so the setting spray is put away then but dry in winter and I like the natural shine it gives.
It takes a while to set, so give it about 2 minutes and you will notice it doesn't look wet anymore but rather looks like a natural shine. I like to spray it on my top cheek bones holding it about 3-5cm away from my face.
I wish it had a nice, fresh smell because it's the last thing I put on my face. It smells like nothing, which could be a plus. It's not sticky at all and the ingredients are good for your skin like the aloe, green tea and vitamins A,C & E so it shouldn't affect acne. I have acne and I use this religiously every day and it hasn't affected my acne at all.
Would recommend it to anyone and everyone, for the amazing price would be hard to sway me into buying a more expensive product because this product delivers what it's meant to for me. Great product E.L.F!
Tips: If you have shiny skin, I recommend a setting powder rather than a setting spray.
