I have pale yellowy olive skin, and dark brown hair. I have enough hair on my upper lip that it bothers me, so I have been waxing it off for years and have tried lots of different kinds of wax strips. I’ve never bothered to get it done by a beautician as I find it’s so easy and cheap to do in the privacy of your own home. I tend to wax every couple of months, with tweezing in between to maintain. I find that even blonde upper lip hair becomes super noticeable in the sun, so I much prefer to wax rather than bleach.
Before use, I always warm the strips up really well. I use body heat or warm the strips up in my hands. This makes the product much softer and ensures that the wax is evenly distributed on both sides of the strip. I rip the strip back in the opposite direction of the hair growth and use baby oil to remove any wax residue. I then wash my face with a gentle cleanser. My skin is red immediately after use, and occasionally will develop some irritation a day after use, usually in the same spot – right at the end of the wax strip.
These strips are pretty standard, though they do contain camomile. I'm not sure this is a great advantage though and doubt it makes the waxing any less harsh on your skin. I suspect it is only present in trace amounts for marketing purposes. They also take longer than 'seconds' to heat up. I find they perform better when properly warm. That said, they do the job and I will be buying them again.
I have a european background and hair removal on the upper lip is a must! i have to do it on a regular basis to keep it smooth (maybe around every 3 to 4 weeks which isn't too bad) and these are so easy and helpful! The strip is the perfect size to fit on the upper lip and and one strip can wax the whole upper lip, as when pulled apart it makes two, with 20 in a pack it last up to 20 uses, which is a long time if you are only needing to wax every month or so! Love them so much and will definitely be repurchasing when i run out, which will not be for a long time!
Tips: Make sure they are fully warmed up before you try to pull the strip apart! Its super easy just a quick rub between your palms for 2 seconds and it should be fine!
