Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Glove

Absolutely love this product. When it arrived I thought I was going to have to get the scissors out to open the plastic packaging, which always annoys me as my hand don't work the best sometimes. So it was a great surprise that the packaging was extremely easy to open. Then I got to examine this awesome brush cleaning glove. What a fantastic idea. Prior to using this the palm of my hand would get extremely sore as I have nearly a hundred brushes and I have been doing a makeup course aswell as volunteering with a runway project. I was cleaning thirty brushes a day for a week. This glove makes cleaning them so much quicker and a more pleasurable job to do.

Tips: If you love your brushes, invest it one of these. They are amazing. I would also recommend these to my artist friend for their brushes too.

Fast and Effective Brush Cleaning

The Sigma spa express brush cleaning glove arrived on my doorstep in all of its pretty pink glory. It came with full instructions as well as a glossy information sheet on Sigma’s full range. The Sigma products scream high quality, and the spa express brush cleaning glove is no exception. The ‘glove’ itself is hot pink with a pocket to slip your hand into, and a strap to keep it in place. It is made of a rubbery, flexible and water resistant material. This product is an investment – I cannot see how it could ever be broken, damaged or in need of replacement, even after years of use.

The glove is covered in bumps and groves that assist the makeup to be washed off the brushes. The glove is slipped on, the brush is wet, your soap of choice is applied to either the glove or brush, and the brush is rubbed over the glove. It really is a more effective process than washing without any equipment. I personally don’t use the strap, as I like to be able to slip the glove off to rinse the brush and squeeze out the water. Antibacterial soap, shampoo or brush cleaner could be used with this product. The end result is squeaky clean brushes, with no makeup, residue or bacteria in sight. I have used this to wash everything from a delicate lip brush, to a dense, fluffy powder brush, and the results were brilliant every time.

In comparison to washing with equipment the Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Glove is faster and more effective. Brush cleaning time is cut in half, and brushes are more deeply cleaned. This is particularly valuable to a makeup artist, or someone with a fair amount of brushes who really doesn’t like washing them.

In comparison to the Bossy Cosmetics Brush Cleaning Pad the Sigma brush cleaning glove is more expensive, and more effective. It is larger and easier to hold, making the brush cleaning process more manageable. It has more groves and feels sturdier.

The accessibility of this product is what would hold me back from recommending it. If you are already placing a Sigma order, absolutely, add it to your order. Some Sigma products are available on makeup.co.nz however the brush cleaning glove is currently not loaded on the site.

The final verdict: the Sigma brush cleaning glove is a great product. It does exactly what it says, is high quality and makes the brush cleaning process faster and easier. After using the Sigma brush cleaning glove and the Bossy Cosmetics brush cleaning pad, I would purchase the Sigma brush cleaning mat. I know – it’s a bit of a leap, but I love the idea of having the high quality, functional aspects of the Sigma brush cleaning glove, whilst being able to use both hands to pump soap, squeeze out water etc. I won’t actually be purchasing the mat, because I already have a great product in my hands, but that is my recommendation to others. I am absolutely convinced of the high quality and attention to detail within the Sigma brand, so I will be looking into their other products.

Tips: I personally don't use the strap so that I can easily slip the glove off to rinse the brushes and squeeze out the water.

Meets all my expectations

When I was chosen to trial this product, I was so excited & had high expectations because I had wanted this product for so long. When it arrived, well let’s just say it screamed luxury. It comes in general plastic packaging, but it also comes with an invitation like envelope, which tells you all about Sigma, and the brush cleansing glove.

So the glove.. well it’s probably the fanciest glove I own. Its bright pink (yay), and made of a thick high quality silicon. It’s a glove that is designed more as an oven glove, with your whole hand fitting in the one pocket and it has a strap which keeps it in place. The glove is covered in bumps, grooves, and indents, with the glove having different areas, for different phases of cleaning your brushes.

The glove is made up different sections including a criss-cross section or a dome section for cleaning brushes, a squiggly line or straight line section for rinsing brushes. It also has a refine section which is made up of little bumps and this area is for deep cleaning, and the refine plus which is a big swirl and used for another cleaning surface. There are also two sides to this glove as it is reversible. One side is for larger brushes (face brushes), and the other is for smaller brushes (eye brushes). I think this idea is amazing, because smaller brushes need smaller textures of the surface to really cleanse the brush.

The way I use this is I wet my brush, and put a small drop of cleanser onto the cleansing section of the brush. I swirl my brush around on here until a good lather is created, then I put it onto the rinsing section, where I put run my brush side to side with the grooves. Then I swirl it over the refine section which creates another lather (even without adding more cleanser), followed by a rinse. Then for the extra dirty brushes, I swirl them over the refine plus and then rinse them. I know it sounds like a lot, but its takes just over a minute for each brush, and you would not believe how clean my brushes are. There is not one spec of dirt, or dust… or anything on them!

The reason why I would invest in this product is because it’s made of high quality product and its feels sturdy. Plus the way it is designed makes me feel like this will last forever. It’s so thick, I can’t imagine the silicon tearing or wearing down anytime soon. Plus this is so easy to clean up. This is super easy to pack away because it’s quite compact and can be folded up, which also means it’s easy to take away with you as well (not like anyone ever wanted to wash their brushes when they were on holiday but still).

There is one slight downside to this product and that is the fact that I would consider it pricey. The only place I know where to get this from is the sigma website, which means you would also have to pay a shipping cost. And these things add up. However, this is the best brush cleansing mat I have used so I do think it is worth it.

Tips: Make sure you use the right side of the mat to ensure your brushes are getting cleaned effectively (one side for small brushes, and one side for the bigger ones).

Awesome review! Love that it is double sided with one side for face brushes. I think that is what let the Bossy one down is that it is so small.

Oh la la love

Wow on first impressions of this beauty I was like 'what the!?' But I had a little play around with the mit and was pleasantly surprised how many different grooves and textures it has to throughly clean your brushes. Now I've never had a brush cleaner and don't have any cleanser I've only used baby shampoo in the past and just my fingers so in fairness I'm a novice. I followed the instructions too a tee and I as I said above I don't have any brush cleanser so I used my garnier micellular water as I'd read that can be really good. Wow how easy is this! I had a go at cleaning all my brushes and now I'm just waiting on them to dry but I'm really impressed what a great design and honestly all the different textures really make a difference with getting into the grooves and helping rid your makeup.

Tips: Hide it away from your man, mine thought it would be great to clean his paint brushes!!!

Undecided

I clean my brushes about once a week; and it's an ordeal. It takes me about an hour, so much brush cleaner and enough 90's throwback hits to keep me sane. So when I got the Sigma brush cleaning glove I was really hoping it would cut down on my cleaning time a lot. I've seen this everywhere as well so I had high hopes. Sadly they fell a bit flat. I'm hoping this is a process you need to practice at to get better because if anything it took me longer then normal and my brushes weren't as sparkling clean as I usually am able to get them. I will check back in if i'm able to improve over time, cause you know what they say - practice makes perfect! For now it's more third eye blind and backstreet boys!

Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Glove

Thank you so much BR for giving me the chance to trial this product. I was so excited when i found out i had been picked to trial this brush cleaning glove! I had heard so much about sigma as a brand and they defiantly are all they are hyped up to be. I really wanted to test out this product to the best i could so i got around 20 brushes which ranged from eyes to face etc and also read all the instructions. I don't use anything special to wash my brushes in just a Palmolive liquid soap that i saw a youtuber use and it has always been fine! I found the glove easy to use as it had writing on it of where you need to wash, refine and rinse. It had so many features that made the job so much easier and faster! i now will actually look forward to washing them instead of not doing it every week. When i first used it i didn't realize it had water drains and thought ahh no it will fill up with water but no i was wrong there. They defiantly thought of everything! I used to clean my brushes with a brush egg that i brought off ebay, it is a lot smaller then the sigma glove and it doesn't do any where as near of a good job as the glove does. My brushes are the cleanest i have seen them and dried so much faster then they normally would. I loved the packaging it came in it told you everything you needed to know! Also bright pink? love it! i can not get enough of just how amazing it was to use, its also perfect for traveling as its very compact and bendy. Sigma really worked hard on this product, normally id think US25 for just a brush cleaner would be a bit much well not this one!! i will defiantly be buying one once mine is stuffed. I also got a envelope with information about sigmas brushes, cleaning products and make up! which was really cool and helpful! i might just have to try something else out from sigma. i 100% recommend and wont be looking back!!

Tips: make sure to put your thumb in the strap as well otherwise the glove moves around to much if you don't!

Life changer

Let me preface this review by saying cleaning makeup brushes is one of my least favourite chores. Seriously, I hate it, it always takes forever & I tend to get frustrated and avoid doing it until absolutely necessary (to the detriment of my brushes and skin). I know its gross but sometimes it would be 3-4 weeks in between cleans! It would get to a point where I’d have to stop using them until I could be bothered. My old routine was to scrub them on old dinner plates or with my hands. So you can imagine how excited I was to receive an email saying I had been accepted onto this particular trial team! I decided to skip cleaning them until the product arrived so it would be a good trial. My foundation brush in particular was quite disgusting, covered in solidified product a week or two old (don’t worry, I didn’t let it near my face). Conveniently it arrived just before the weekend so I set aside a good chunk of time on Sunday. It usually takes me roughly 30 minutes to clean all of my brushes (I have about 12), this weekend it took about 10 minutes to be completely rid of built up product on all of my brushes. This product is seriously amazing. First impressions: for a start it is bright fluoro pink, so very aesthetically pleasing! The glove is comfortable, it slips over your wrist and there are grooves on both sides to slip your thumb through so you can use the glove on whichever hand you prefer. It is a rubbery texture so holds in place quite well, although did get a bit slippery once it got wet. It has a few different textures, called wash, rinse, refine, and refine plus. The instructions were really straightforward, basically said to rub brushes on the cleaning textures and then rinse under running water on the rinse texture. All I did was put a glob of baby shampoo on the wash part of the glove, rub the brushes on it for a bit, and then run under warm water while rubbing brush back and forth on the “rinse” setting. Repeat until the water ran clear and no sign of product still in the brushes. Only my foundation brush needed anything beyond the wash setting, the others all did well enough on the wash texture. The smaller eye brushes were completely clean after a quick rub on the wash and rinse textures. Tried it again last night with far less product build up on the brushes and it honestly took me about 5 minutes and I was done. Stoked! This express cleaning glove exceeded my expectations. I must say I have never used a specific brush cleaning tool before so I have nothing to compare it to, but I would highly recommend it! I honestly don’t know why I didn’t buy something like this sooner. I had a browse online and looks like a relatively cheap product– worth every dollar I say! I might invest in some high quality brushes now – my collection is mostly a bunch of cheapies since I could never be bothered with the high maintenance of keeping them clean. I will definitely be cleaning my brushes much more frequently, thanks BR for changing my life <3

Tips: Keep a towel on hand to give it a quick dry now and then as it does get quite slippery. Its pretty straightforward to use but might pay to give the instructions a quick read (otherwise you might forget there is more than one texture like I did).

Never have dirty brushes again!!!!

So happy with this Brush cleaning glove. Does exactly what it says it will, is super easy to use and gets brushes like new in no time at all.

All the different textures work well with different style brushes for a great deep clean.

Glove fits well to different hand sizes as both me and my husband were able to wear comfortably, but is also small and compact and doesn't take up too much room in the bathroom.

If you are a fan of Sigma Brushes, you will absolutely love this glove

Get those brushes clean!

This product is pretty awesome and pretty well put together. It has 8 areas for different purposes. You may not use them all but it does cater to all brushes.

Easy to hold with your hand tucked in the pocket, also has a couple of thumb holes that I didn't bother using as I found it made holding it more awkward.

The pocket part flips inside out for the other rinsing options and is a little bit of a pain to d when its wet.

I found it cleaned all brushes really well. Brilliant for the smaller eyeshadow brushes with the 'refine' part of the pad.

The product also smells like bubblegum(as told by my four year old) even before washing.

Tips: Don't wear long sleeves as water tends to run down your arm a bit

Hey AliceS, I have this one and then I have a more basic bossy(when it was called that) one which I use a lot more. I think it's worth having this product if you dont have anything else if that make sense. Still really like it but prefer my other one

For the ultimate deep clean for your brushes

I was lucky enough to be sent this by BR to trial. I made sure to amass quite a collection of grubby brushes prior to receiving this glove so I could really test it to the limits! I was quite surprised initially by the size of the brush cleaning glove, when I read travel sized I imagined something quite dainty- this is the size of a large man's hand. This is good though as it would encompass a wide range of hand sizes from my baby hands to someone with lovely long fingers. For travel this can be compressed by tucking the portion that covers your palm/wrist area into the pocket that covers your fingers, effectively cutting the size of the glove in half and thereby taking up less space in your makeup bag.

I love how this glove is reversible enabling you to use a cleaning texture appropriate to the size and bristle style of your brush. I cleaned all of my face brushes first on the face side, turned the glove inside out and cleaned my eye brushes. There are different textures on the glove; wash, rinse, refine and refine plus. I found these textures did a fantastic job at really getting in between the bristles and cleaning out the gunk-particularly on very dense brushes such as my foundation buffing brush. This is a perfect option if you really want to look after your brushes and are having problems with giving them a really deep clean. If you are someone who applies your foundation with a brush this is also a great option for you and makes the whole arduous process of cleaning your brushes just that little bit easier. If you don't tend to use a lot of brushes for your makeup (i.e. just the odd eye brush) then something easier on the budget would probably be a fine option for you. As for me I am gifting my previous brush cleaning pad to my sister and will be sticking to this one. Thanks BR!

Tips: There are two sides to this glove (it is reversible). One side is for large brushes and the other for small. Place the strap around the thumb and wrist for a secure fit. Wet your brushes and the 'wash' portion of the glove. Add your brush shampoo of choice (I used Bossy) and swirl brush over texture to clean. Rinse the glove and run your brush back and forth over the area marked as 'rinse'. For an extra clean swirl your brush around the portion of the brush marked as 'refine'. Return to the rinse texture of the glove and set brush aside to dry on a towel. There is a 'refine plus' texture also if your brushes are extra grubby and in need of a bit more of a clean.
