On the hunt for a new Kabuki brush since it seems my usual supplier has disappeared.
This is SUPER soft and the packaging says it's made from Taklon (YAY!). It's $14 from Kmart so not a bad purchase if the product didn't meet my expectations.
I like a full coverage and use kabuki brushes because that is what they help to provide so I expect it takes a while for the brush to start performing to its best once I've washed it from new.
It has shed a little and so far has been providing light coverage and I've had to use my other kabuki to go over to buff my foundation to the coverage I like.
The ferule (handle) is shorter than I'm used to so if you suffer from arthritis in the hands, you'll probably want something with a longer handle.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to tell just how good it is until I've used it for a couple of months but so far I'm quite happy with it, I just wanted to put something up for people looking at purchasing this so they don't have any unrealistic expectations that it will perform straight out of the packet and I can come back in a couple of months to recap.
Edit - 30 April 2014 I've used this for just over a month now and I've decided that it just isn't doing it for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful brush and beautifully soft but the bristles are too loose and to get any sort of decent coverage from my mineral foundation, they need to be more tightly packed.
I would suggest this is probably better for bronzers, illuminators or for those that are blessed with only needing light coverage mineral foundation rather than full.
When my last kabuki brush died (I can't even remember where I got it from, it was that old) I was so sad as it picked up product with ease and applied it well. Thankfully at the time I managed to get a Kabuki brush as part of an Elizabeth Arden set from BR's fabulous vault. It was lovely and soft but for some reason the product just never made it on to my cheeks (I use Kabuki for blusher mainly). So I thought it was my new blusher being average. Then I tried it with my old blusher and it still didn't apply that well. Clearly it was the brush - the search continued. So after reading the reviews of the e.l.f Kabuki Face Brush on iherb I decided to splash out a few dollars ($6US) and give it a go. And I'm so glad I did because it's amazing. It picks up colour beautifully and applies it to the face easily. I love a rosy glow and this brush gives me one. It's also nice and soft! Great product - amazing price - what's not to love?
