Soooo I’ve got very dry skin, and that goes for my lips too. A problem I always experience with lipsticks is after applying it looks cakey and really enhances the dry patches on my lips. I’ll end up just removing my lippie altogether. Even after a lip scrub, I mostly have to apply lipstick over a chapstick, and that really impacts the wear. Mellow’s got the secret formula solution to my problems. I’ve got about 5 shades, and have gifted a few more to my mother that I steal from time to time. It glides over my lips, with or without lip scrub first, and settles in place leaving then looking and feeling fab! I thought that the matte finish would enhance the dryness but it’s so creamy (yet without feeling thick) that my lips look full and plump and perfect. They’re super long lasting and gradually come off so that you’re not left with a weird lip liner situation.

Mellow Creamy Matte Lipstick (all shades) Review
Mellow Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly, leaving a velvety-smooth, moisturising finish.

I have the shade ‘nude’ and although it’s a little darker than I was expecting, it goes on easily, it’s nice and creamy and it has a lot of pigment. It does transfer onto other things, but I find my lips don’t look like it has, only whatever it transferred onto which is really great for me!
I am a big fan of these lipsticks, as they aim to give you safe, ethical products, without a hefty price tag.
They have a big range of beautiful colours, and I admit I dream of owning every shade. They are smooth, creamy and easy to apply, without any strange taste or smell. The packaging is elegant and I feel glamorous just having this in my handbag, even on lippy-free days!
My one issue is that when I wear very dark or bright colours I find it does fade quickly in the middle with eating or drinking. I assume this is a standard issue for bright/dark shades as this is the only brand I've used for dramatic shades, but it does put me off a bit - who wants to go to the bathroom at the end of a family BBQ to find a dark outline but the rest of your lippy has come off??
Tips: If you're going for bright or dark shades take steps to help your lipstick stay so you don't end up with the dreaded lip ring!
I recently purchased this in the shade New York; liking both the colour and the name.
I had previously tried Mellow's liquid lipsticks and was curious to see how they standard lipsticks compared.
I have always preferred bullet lipsticks as they can be quicker to apply and less likely to dry out your lips and these things stayed true with Mellow.
The colour pay off on this lipstick was still good and the deep colour looked lovely on. It did find it slightly more gritty than some other lipsticks I have, but not majorly so.
I also found it reasonably priced and would consider buying another shade in future.
Mellow Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in "Passion" arrived as my day 24 gift in the 2016 Beautiful Christmas Advent Calendar, and is a beautiful mid-pink colour packaged in a classy looking 3.8g matte beige bullet with gold trim. The formula of the lipstick is not as drying as I thought a matte lipstick would be (this is my first matte lipstick. I usually avoid matte because of them being drying and not moisturizing).
Mellow's matte lipsticks are highly pigmented, so they give a rich colour with a long-wearing formula that feels velvety smooth upon application and have an ultra matte finish yet still retains a surprisingly moisturizing consistency that I find doesn't dry out my lips. When applied properly, like all lipstick should be (a thin layer rubbed into the lips, blotted (optional with matte), and then another thin layer applied), I found that it lasted hours without needing to be retouched, and even when it did start to wear off, the colour stain still remained.
I'm not sure if this lipstick is creamy matte or ultra matte, as the packaging I received seems to be a little confusing. The gold printing on the side of the pale beige box says, "Mellow Ultra Matte Lipstick", yet the little sticker on the bottom of the bullet where the colour name is just says, "Matte Lipstick", and I've read reviews that others have written saying that this is a creamy matte lipstick and not a true (ultra) matte lipstick, and when I search for "Passion" on Mellow's website, it pops up as one of their Creamy Matte Lipsticks. Either way, it has a matte finish, and is not drying.
I'd definitely recommend Mellow's Matte Lipstick, as it's comfortable to wear, has good pigmentation, and does not leave lips feeling dry and flaky.
Tips: Apply a thin layer, rub your lips together to work the colour in, and apply a little more, if necessary.
I don't usually use bullet lipsticks, so getting one as a gift I was kinda like... ahhh... thank you... very nice... Luckily, it was in a gift set to myself than from someone who was watching me open it eagerly, so there were no hurt feelings.
I really like the packaging. The matte beige bullet with the strip of gold screams high class. It feels good quality in the hand and looks really pretty sitting on the lipstick stand. The lid pops off easily, but sits securely so there should be no issue with it coming loose in the hand bag. The bottom turns, like most bullet lipsticks, and the colored wax enters the light.
I can’t remember what color I got, but I remember knowing that it wasn’t a shade I liked or thought I suited. However, that didn’t stop me from applying it and wearing it around the house. I didn’t notice any smell, which is great because I absolutely hate badly scented lipsticks! I did think it was very creamy and incredibly pigmented though, but I didn’t really notice.
I also didn’t think these were really matte either, I thought it transferred easily. Without eating or drinking the lipstick lasted quite a good amount of time, but it did need to be reapplied in the middle of the lips. I’d probably repurchase after looking at shades in store, but otherwise I prefer other lippies!
This lipstick come in a typical lipstick tube shaped like a Mac lipstick. A nice shape, one that I prefer.
The actual lipstick I feel is the most pigmented one I have used for a number of years, that is a real plus. I found the colour is true to the description on the website so was very happy when it arrived. Electro was my colour of choice. I found it rich and creamy with a smmoth matte finish and not at all drying. It glides on seemlessly.
It lasted a good few hours without having to be retouched which for me equals good value for money.
Tips: Mellow lipsticks are fabulous to wear and come in a number of great shades, there will be one to suit everyone.
After a few days wearing "Danger Zone," I felt like a total badass sultry babe, This pinkish-red bullet lipstick is unlike any hue I've found- almost indescribable colour. It suits my fair pinkish skin but it isn't a red-blue tone. It has a tangerine tinge but definitely not orange. This pigment-packed lippy evades characterisation and I totally love it. It would be fascinating to see DZ on different skin tones and see if it is one of those universally-flattering lipsticks. The tube is sleek in stylish mushroom brown with gold accents (a gilded lily so to speak),
Tips: Be careful handling the tube as it is easy to smudge and stain the light-coloured tube.
Loving this mellow ultra matte lipstick
It comes in a box with gold writing and the colour sticker on the end is the same as the lippy I feel some lipstick can be a bit misleading.
It applies easily and the first time I put it on I was sold. I've noticed a few different reds popping up in my makeup case but this is a new favourite it just seems to pop.
I don't really feel like I have a lipstick on which is great it does how ever feel a little drying like I need to put some thing else on my lips sometimes.
I’ve tried couple of shades from this range over the years - posh, danger zone and madness. Posh is a nude shade, danger zone is like a redy pink and madness is a deep red shade.
The packaging is a creamy gold applicator, kind of like a stylish bullet. It’s very cute and convenient to carry around.
I found the lipstick formula to be hydrating and nourishing. I wouldn’t say it’s fully matte, it does have a slight shine to them. These glide on easy and feels very creamy. The final look is a highly pigmented colour.
I believe this lipstick is so underrated. It’s worth a try for how affordable it is. I highly recommend it.
Tips: Use a lip scrub to remove dead skin before applying the lipstick.
