High Performer

It is only in the past 6 months that I have introduced night creams into my routine, rather than using a standard moisturiser before bed. Since doing so I have noticed my skin is much brighter, plumper, and my morning makeup application is smoother. It's also gives me a lovely 30 second luxury pamper moment before bed.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Concentrate has been a lovely addition to my skincare routine and is very comparable to the high end night creams I had previously been using. The packaging is sturdy and glossy in a stand out aqua shade. The fragrance can be noticed as soon as the product is opened, although it isn't as potent on the skin. It is fresh and light, although I don't know that it would sway me to purchase this product. Inside is a formula that sits between a gel and cream form, with tiny beads filled with Vitamin E. It is reasonably thick like a cream, but lightweight, glossy and fast absorbing like a gel. It is fully absorbed within 3-5 minutes and penetrates deep into the skin like a high end night cream, rather than creating a film on top of the skin. My skin instantly feels hydrated, plump and soothed from the days air conditioning and drying foundation.

The real test is how my skin feels the next morning, and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Concentrate certainly performs. My skin is hydrated, smooth, plump and bright. This lasts through my morning cleanser, and I almost feel like I could skip my morning moisturiser. This is my actual skin, not a product sitting on top of it.

Only the tiniest amount of product is needed so I can see that this will last me a long time and the Vitamin E is a total bonus for my acne scarred skin. I use this product every night, although coming into summer I may switch to every second night if my skin becomes oily.

Tips: For oily skin, use this every second night.

Average :/

I'm currently using this as my night cream. I'm not wowed by it but I'm not hating it either.

My skin is hydrated and it hasn't caused any break outs but when I see 'night concentrate' I think of something with more oomph to it. This feels like a light moisturiser. I think the 'beads' are a gimmic, my skin hasn't changed into more supple hydrated skin. It is just.... Average!

The smell is nice and subtle, very fresh. It isn't irritating around my eye area at all. The packaging is a nice blue sturdy pot. You don't need too much product as it spreads a long way and quickly absorbs.

Overall it does the job but it's not a wonder product. I currently have normal skin, which leads more to dry then oily. I have been prone to break outs due to different night creams but this hasn't done that. I do feel I need a slightly more heavy night cream.

Great alternative to heavy night creams

As with the day cream in this range it has actually performed as promised, without the application of oils and serums that I usually apply on a daily basis under my moisturisers day or night, I was thrilled to find that after just 2 nights I woke to find nice, soft and supple skin. Normally I only even wear night cream 3-4 times a week as I find it to be too heavy for my dry/combination skin and can lead to areas getting greasy/oily from over hydration that I get breakout, I did with this concentrate also as I used it every night without fail for the first week I had to try as recommended for a fair review even though I know that this can be too much for my skin. On morning number 8 of reviewing it was too much I woke to a very oily T-Zone and pimples along the forehead and chin line that I can only put down to the night concentrate. So I decided then and there to switch back to my every other night application and found that I got the oily areas under control and the pimples retreated. It left the dry patches around my cheeks for dead and they were un-noticeable after just 6 days.

Design wise, similar to the water gel in design, a chunky jar with a screw lid. In that lovely aqua blue colour to match the range and clear acrylic outer, the only thing that makes this different to the water gel is the lid, the lid on this night concentrate is a darker blue, so if you make a mistake and put the wrong lid back on then you’ll get confused if you don’t take the time to read what your putting on your face at the time.

Formula, this light blue watery gel formula is studded with little darker spots of blue which are micro beads containing extra vitamins to really get into that hydration into you as you sleep, with no fragrance that I registered and no residue sticky or tacky feeling, this easily absorbed into skin.

Application, a little amount of this watery gel is all you need to rub into your face at night after cleansing; the little beads of darker blue are not hard and actually just squish into the gel as if they melted for an easy application. Once applied, it sinks almost immediately leaving no sticky after thought which is perfect when you just want to hit the pillow and get some sleep.

Hydro Boost Night Concentrate

Out of the 4 Neutrogena Hydro Boost range products I was sent to trial this is my least favourite. This product comes in a heavy, translucent blue jar and feels luxurious and expensive. It has the same aquatic fragrance as the rest of the range and the product itself is a creamy-translucent pale blue gel filled with tiny moisture beads purported to contain vitamin e. I love the smell and the concept of the beads breaking into the gel upon application but I cannot tolerate the texture of this product unfortunately - I find it incredibly sticky, it dries down to quite a gummy feeling texture on the skin and doesn't sink in like the Hydroboost water gel or spf day lotion in the range do. It sits on top of the skin and feels uncomfortable and I feel like I want to wash it off. I find my face sticking to the pillows at night and after a week of use I have found I have developed pimples all around my hairline. I stopped using this cream for a day and they went away so it must have been this product causing it. I love the rest of this range and I feel that this product is un-necessary as the Water Gel which is very similar (minus the moisture beads) is more effective, better value for money (as it serves several purposes) and gives a great night time moisture boost (see my separate review for this product). Overall I would not use again and did not enjoy using this product due to the after-feel and I felt it did nothing to help my skin.

Concentrate those wrinkles!

This was my most favorite product of the Neutrogena hydro boost range.

The jar is gorgeous, simple but luxurious feel when you pick it up it feels quite heavy for a cream jar.

Its only been this year upon joining the beauty review team that I have started taking better care of my skin, night creams have been a must do in my skin care routine.

The moisturizer is very thick compared to the other night creams I have used. A small dot on each cheek, chin, forehead and neck is all you need for your skin, I learnt this the hard way the first night i trialed this and used it like normal moisturizer and looked like I had gone for a swim in some goo! The small blue beads that are in the cream makes it fun, when you gently massage the cream into your skin they dissolve. Your skin feels so smooth and plump. My skin feels amazing every night I apply this before bed.

My most favorite part about using this moisturizer is waking up the next day and seeing my skin, it looks smooth, dewy and hydrated, it feels so smooth, its incredible!

The Neutrogena hydro boost night concentration is absolutely amazing,I recommend this to everyone who is looking for a hydrating luxurious night cream.

Light Night But Heavy Duty.

For years I have used night creams that come in very expensive packages and have not found a holy grail night cream. I have struggled to find balance between the feel of a heavy sticky cream that I don't like the sensation of but gives me good hydration and a cream that is lighter but helps deliver the moisture I need in my dry areas. In this hydro boost night cream I have found a winner. The gel formula absorbs really quickly and doesn't leave a sticky feeling yet packs a serious punch in the hydration department. I go lightly through my TZone as I am prone to being oily there but use it liberally through my cheeks forehead and down my neck. I pair this with different day moisturisers not from the hydro boost range and find that this helps keep oil at bay during the day but not leaving my skin too thirsty! Balance achieved in this wee gem of a night cream.

Tips: Don't be afraid to mix up your moisturizer placement to target different areas/issues on your face. I concentrate this where I am driest.

Ok night cream

I purchased this moisturiser as multiple people recommended it on TikTok. I was a bit disappointed. It does dry well. Does not leave skin feeling oily. I did expect more of a hydrating aspect to it though. It did not leave my skin as hydrated as I would like for a night cream. I am now using it as a day cream. It drys well and I’m am able to apply makeup over it perfectly.

I think I like it

I decided to but the hydro boost moisturizer after seeing a lot of positive reviews on the internet. I meant to get the normal day one however accidentally bought the night concentrate instead. I usually hate the feeling of moisturizer as I have typically bought ones that leave a greasy feel however I love the feeling of this moisturiser as I believe it is water-based and does not leave the skin feeling greasy. My skin normally feels nice and hydrated in the morning.

Pretty decent for a drug store brand. Will probably look into buying more from this line.
